Exclamation It's only 20 inch's!

This weekend, my new Tein SS & Comptech swaybar were installed. This was needed in order to compliment the wheels I ordered. It was a hard decision for me because I didnt want to regret what I ordered. I researched quite a bit and this is the outcome. I custom ordered these wheels in late December 05 and they finally made it to my doorstep. Just like everyone else, if the thread turns out positive, I will continue to add more progress pictures & information. The tires will be in this Friday.

Oh and I also had a professional cut out the inside of where the fender meets the front bumber (in the wheel well) since someone with the same 35mm offset had this problem as it cut his tires because of the agressive fit. Enjoy!

It's been a long time coming

Invincible, I remember last year when you were new to AZ and you started doing research on wheels. You were pretty thorough in your search if I remember correctly. Glad to see you found what you were lookin for! Can't wait to see the pics of them mounted on your car Congrats

This is the car they will be mounted on. I will respond to all of your questions soon. I was actually pretty nervous about getting these wheels because I didnt want them to be too big or too small. After I opened the first box, I knew I made the right decision.

The packaging was very neat. It was stacked around with a lot of cardboard and was also wrapped around the edges of the lip which I took off for the pic.

Donte99: I will give out the stats of the wheels after I post a pic of them on the car. I want the picture to show a true representation instead of people assuming by the sizing numbers. I will use an analogy... some people look really hot and healthy fitness wise, but the scale says otherwise. Thats a common misconception people have and it hold true to the wheel size's. I promise I will post specs soon. And thank you for the "damn" compliment.

Acuracy: I will do so. I took home the cut out piece because I knew someone was going to ask. I will also take a pic of where it came from. It's right behind the wheel well plastic housing (by headlights).

gotboost: They do come with centercaps.

PPLAPW: Thank you. I will post pics soon!

JPTL: I remember too. I used to be in the car scene yrs ago when imports were first hitting 11's. Then I got burned out because I was doing so much of it with a local magazine and helping run car show/race events. From that time, a lot has changed and I was doing catchup. Before we didnt have the Internet, but now we do and that helped me catch up quick. Anyhow, ordering these wheels was nerve racking because there were so many options and also other things you couldnt do. I was heading for step lip, but the size I wanted wasnt available for the front's. Oh well!

CTLgo: Suprisingly, I dont see much of a difference. I measured and I am 1" lower. I will take pics, but I dont think it will show much of a difference. I had the installed put it for as high as possible so I can just lower once i install the wheels. I am still getting used to the Tein SS. Its pretty bumpy.

CL PLatano: Thank you and I agree!

clay: Thank you too!

Blue Eyes: Hopefully this weekend??

I like the wheels. Are those I-forged or Kinesis? I personally think they are gonna be too big. I have always thought that 19's are the perfect size for the 3GTL. However, I'm gonna reserve my judgement until I see the pics. Hopefully you can prove me wrong on the 19's vs 20's debate.

So hurry up with the damn pics. lol

Trust me, i wasnt so sure if 20's would be too big. It was a hard decision for me. I think it will be ok. If for some reason, my calculations were incorrect, I still have an option to add the RJ kit to bring the car to proportional levels. Sometimes the perception of the wheel design & color is what makes the wheels look larger or smaller. It actually made me feel better when someone in Japan added OZ 20's to his TL. That sealed the deal knowing that was the look i was going for.

As for the maker, they are IForged. You can ask madhetsobi as I was in the middle of picking out which brand to go with. Either Kinesis or IForged. I was going to go with Kinesis until Iforged released this design. The price difference was $5000 vs $3500 for wheels only. I was thinking those $1500 could pay off the Tein SS and tires. So instead of paying close to $7K total, I would only pay a little over $5K. The IForged name wasnt appealing to me in the beginning. But the more I read about them especially with most Lambo-power.com owners owning this brand, I didnt need any more reassurance. Recently, John Hennessy who is well known in Houston for his Vipers just broke another record riding on Iforged. Just more reassurance. I was turned off by HRE's in the beginning becuase they couldnt offer me the lip I wanted. So I was limited to Kinesis and IForged who could give me more lip. I felt like I made the right decision and now time will tell if I did.

Oh one other thing... I wanted the wheels to remain silver and Kinesis charged me a couple hundred extra for this since their wheels come in shot peened and anodized which is a darker color.

I am liking the wheels already by looking at this pic. Love the lip on that pic. Are they staggered 20's?? I am sure they will look really nice. Just make sure you lower your TL with no or little wheel gap. Can't wait to see the rims on your car buddy!!

i think 20s are perfect for the TL given it has the right offset and right drop. I have 20inch hre 547R on mine and im soo happy i went wit 20's and not 19's. I also have tein SS and wit the right drop 20's will be perfect. I have 20 inch staggared with 8.5 and 9.5 but i love it and looks great...I know someone u dont like staggered but i love the way it looks and gets eyes everywhere i go. Those Iforged look great man cant wait to see the pics.

Acuracy, as requested.. here is the cut out piece. I will get the actual cut out pic on the car once I get under it. I put a dime next to it so you can get a better understanding of the size.

you don't rub with it lowered on teins and a 9.5 in the back? are your fenders rolled?

i have an 8.5 in the back with a +45 offset on 245/35/20 tires. I have rubbing issues with two people in my back seat going over large dips in the road. this is why i haven't dropped it, I would assume it would only get worse. how are people pulling this off with 20s?

Good question, i have a hard time debating 19's and 20's

I know i want my car slammed but not over 1.75"s all around so 19's should fit perfectly, but 20's looks damn good w/ a slight drop. also another thing i took to consideration was that i live in the LA area where i can hit random potholes so if i have a stiff suspension i think i would bend the 20's

can't wait to see the pics

luda: thank you!! I hope so too!! Im anxious!

ed99: I agree with your drop recommendation. That is exactly how I want to set it up. Thats the reason why i went with Tein SS. I can get it to sit just right. Once I get the pics up, you will have your answer on your other question.

Old Blue Eyes: I will take pics of it soon. I cant tell a difference though? It just rides more stiff.

Velfare: I think we all agree that 20's with a nice drop is perfect.

claus: Thank you! I am very nervous taking these wheels in to get the tires mounted. Hopefully Saturday morning they will be on the car.

yea i rubbed like a bitch when i first put them on but i had the car sittin kinda low. So i raised it up and it was good for the most part but still rubben alittle bit....i then rollled the fenders and the rubbing stopped but have yet to put ppl in the back. I know if raise the car just alittle all the rubbin will go away but i love the stance of it riight now. I think i willl eventully have to raise the back up just alittle bit. But none the less i think u went the right way wit the 20s and urs look sick man..cant wait to see it on ur ride.

i was scared too with the tires and i live in new york. But it isnt badd at all...i hit some pretty mean holes and nothing so far...i just keep on top of my tire pressure..thats the main thing.

Thanks guys for the compliments...i had the pics but just recently learned how to post picss..i will try to get some more side shots this weekend...hopefully i can wash it and take some pics..its f*ckin dirty now.

da_illezt: Thank you!

Acuratein: Thats what I was after.. a nice lip! We will soon see how it turns out.

toyangel: Same here. The suspense is killing me. Its in UPS hands right now with the last two tires.

aznkikaz: Thank you!! I did check out DPE actually. The only problem with DPE's back in december is that every BMW on e46fanatics had DPE's. I kind of wanted to do something different. I was doing a lot of photoshop with a lot of wheels and these came out the best in my opinion. I know that DPE just released some new designs.

trancemission: You sure did. I promised you I would show you these pics before anyone else. I was afraid to post on here because some people can be pretty harsh... but I overcame it when I showed a couple of other people after you.

Acuracy: Your car looks sweet!!! What size tires do you have on your wheels? Can you get a far away pic of it? I bet it would look even better! Just curious if you get a lot of stares and compliments? I know I would be breaking my neck to see your car! Oh and I dotn think you siad this.. but what offset do you have?

madehtsobi: I owe you a big thank you for helping me decide on these wheels. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! Yea, whenever you are ready.. we will meet! Just let me know when! I was thinking the same thing about the pics.. just you, me and JR taking pics again. We need to go somewhere else and take them good. We will do it on a Saturday/Sunday. We can go wash our cars first, then snap some pics in a good background place. 3 WDP's!

Velfare: a twin of who?

Meek: Its bad in some areas of Houston. I have drove in 19's before.. but never 20's. Hopefully the forged will help eliminate any bending that I was used too with my 19's.

Quick Reply: It's only 20 inch's!
