Let me clarify my post. I don't want the lip to look like that E55. What I envision is something subtle, yet more sporty and aggressive. While the TL can slightly pull off the VIP look, I believe it looks better when dressed up as a sports sedan.
I think that following what tuners have done with the M and AMG cars would be best. They have found ways to make the car looks sportier and meaner while still retaining its lines and factory beauty. I hope that makes sense.
Here are some examples:

ATLP looks like it is gonna fill the niche that RJ could have. He went on to his obsession with wheels but I always thought doing body enhancements could get a better following just because we don't have many options out there. Mike you should corner that bodykit/spoiler/ grille upgrade market!!
I think that A-Spec fill does NOT look good! It looks like any old bodykit if you did that. That arch is a character line unique to the whole signature A-Spec look. Most importantly that arch is also present on the rear bumper spoiler (Another reason I like the 04-06 A-Spec over the Type-S style.)
I think the better approach is to go for a splitter since there isn't one on the market. The VERY best ideas is KB's design!! It can give the option of plain or carbon fiber. It doesn't come down but out instead. It has less of an "added on" look and is molded just right. I loved it and he actually sold a few of them about a year ago. Only problem is it was quite expensive, as much as the A-Spec kit itself, lol. I'd say you can sopy the design (it wasn't patented or anything) make it your own and price it at a volume inspiring price.
And just 2 more cents? I tried many times telling RJ to do an aftermarket grill update. He was interested at one point but changed his mind. Today all we got is that Chinese one on Ebay. I bet you could come up with something better!

That first chop is ugly. A straight line across the front of the car doesn't do anything for it. Its just a straight line. The high end tuners make lips that flow with the vehicle to make it look more aggressive/sporty. As long as the lip looks like it belongs on the car I will buy it.

Let's keep the constructive criticism coming! Thanks rockyfeller for the detailed post. Helps a lot to see what people are looking for. Let's keep this to front spoilers only at the moment.
I like the KB1's specs design, but I felt that the "flare" looks a little thin, as if it could just break of. What if that part were about .25" thicker? Not much just enough to notice?

Personally I don't like the flare out look, well depends on the extent of flare. I like the more flat, subtle sporty look, similar to what you PS'd.
The whole reason I converted to the 07+ Base was for the lip. I liked not having the gray textured plastic, and I liked the smoother shape to it. The lower fogs is an extra kicker though.
Those RJ designs were nice though. Probably would have bought one.

BUT YEAH ASPEC FRONT LIP ADD ON...
We could try something like the E46 CF add on 2 piece splitters like these on the bottom of the bumper.

It definitely looks VIP-ish. It's very clean and subtle looking that's for sure.

Cruising in my
I like those Hamann style lips.
I really like the a-spec, currently. An a-spec add-on would probably receive the most positive feedback because most of us have them.
If you were really thinking of redesigning a whole new front lip that would be really cool too. The black market would be flooded with a-spec lips though.... lol

i dont think a splitter would necessarily look good on an aspec front. Reason being is that the "curve" it has is what makes it so aggressive. A full splitter would take away from that. ARC winglets are the way to go IMO if you want that look, without taking away from the OEM shape of the a-spec lip. What i would REALLY want ( i know you wanted to keep it front lip only) is a base rear lip that fits a quad exhaust system, without having to cut it all ugly myself =[

Haha we're too alike in our car/modding choices, just wdp/nbp lol That's the exact combo I would go with.
WHAT!? 1k shipped is amazing. I'm not a HUGE fan of them but they would look phenomenal on the TL I would think.

Cuz this was EXACTLTY what I was thinking earlier.. some like that or the e92 Vorsteiner front lip CF, FTW!!!!
I will try to find the pic of what i am talking about. Possibly CSL CF trunk.. German'd out TL's are win/win.

Mike! PLEASE make something to replace the 07-08 type-s lip! I thing the lip they have is tooo big and bulky! i really wished the 04-06 lip would fit on the 07 bumper, but that's why i'm stuck right now with out the front lip on my type-s. offense to anyone that has the lip, it's just too aggressive for me. i want a clean look! those rj lips are nice tho!! to bad they never fell through!

I agree. Really like this style of bumper, however the majority of people already have an A-spec lip kit on their car. If you're going to design an entirely new bumper, this would be something to model it after (not exactly, but something like this, IMO).
In regards to just making an OE looking lip kit add on to our current A-spec lips: I like the corner flares/strakes on the sides of the front bumper. I do think an entire flared lip would be too much (unless you make it very subtle) however, the corner flares/strakes adds a little edge to the car and definitely sets it off.

I really liked the concept lip kit Ron Jon considered producing but was disappointed they didn't. I dunno.. something more of a addon would be very nice like
maybe in carbon fiber. im not sure if that's possible or whatever, but yeah go for something clean and simple
I think most people are content with A-Spec kit including myself, but thats just me

RonJon was contemplating a subtle lip kit for the 3rd gen. But for certain reasons it was passed up. These are the samples I found in the thread he posted OCT of 2007.

MIKE if you manage to get a kit done.... YOU WILL FOREVER BE MY HERO!
