I'm sorry to hear that Eric
OH CRAP I'm SCARED!! Last Friday I changed my axle, and I used the same HONDA technique that this guy used. The reason why I said Honda Technique is because I know 5 Friends that work for Acura and Honda. For some reason I always have been tough (by them) to beat the shit out of the lower control arm so the joint would pop out!!
I have been doing that every time I change axles, but nothing happens. But this was the first time I have changed an axle on a TL, and I’m scared that the same thing is going to happen.
My question is, did he not tighten the bolt down and put the cotter pin back in, or was it a defect in the joint?

eric,
same thing happened to me on my accord coupe too few years back....
it happened right after i got off the hwy!! i'm glad i'm still alive. i wouldn't want this snap on me on the hwy.
it just gave up on me, nothing was done or modified too.
sorry to hear what happened to your TL.

DAMN Eric! Just read the whole thread. I am just thankful that you are OK and the PERFECT ride is repairable. It would be a sad day to lose another MEGA TL (Blackura TL RIP). That is why I am VERY anal about who works on mine. Found a tech at my dealer who personally explains everything to me. I request him to work on my car every time. Good luck with your future "endevours" on dealing with the banned member.
And if you all haven't met Eric, you couldn't meet a nicer person. I met Eric at NOPI Nationals in Atlanta in 2007 and he is the top class of AZ folk!![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Keep your head up, Eric. And while most people, including myself, don't understand your non-aggressive nature, in the end, you're better off for it. The last thing you need is assault charges on top of a $2k bill (on top of the $1.2k bill
). When you tally the two bills, it might be worth a trip to civil court, although you would probably have a hard time collecting any judgement since he doesn't have a job.

Sorry to hear you're going through this...I can't even post all the disappointments and lessons learned over the years from trusting and repeatedly letting people rip me off. Now, I have learned from the past and don't look forward to all I still need to learn in the future! I guess it keeps it interesting. The guy is jobless...probably somewhat friendless...karma gave this guy a cash advance. Just do your thing...fix it and move on.
Take care and good luck with getting it back on the road!

wow.. This guy has cost you thousands.. you were so nice to him.. what a douchebag.. I can't believe he removed your driveshaft to remove your 3rd Cat.. and didn't even mount it back correctly, yet says "its fine".. what an asshole. I would have K.O.'d this mofo. Glad you're okay..
Wow Eric, I just read the story and I am at loss of words.
Like everyone else said, I am really glad to hear that this didn't happen as you were on the freeway or driving with your girlfriend.
Its unfortunate that he wont come forward and at least to offer help pay for at least SOME of the damage.
Hopefully everything gets sorted out, your gets fixed, and then once again you will reign supreme.
Don't worry about that guy, Karma is a b*tch. What goes around, comes around...

The TL is now mobile, thanks to Hendrick Acura and one of their certified technicians. I will now fix the bumper tab and swap the fender with the one off the auto TL.
It basically cost about the same as the passenger side, which was $1,187.

Eric I'm glad you got your beauty up and running again. I still can't believe what happened. I guess not everybody was taught when younger to take responsibility for their actions
.
Btw, there is talk brewing in the Southeast Region threads of a possible East Coast version of AcuraFest since the West Coast one was baller as hell. You should check it out and throw your input in there

Glad to see your car's back on the road. I dont think you should have too much trouble getting your money back. Then you can get back to doing what you do with that beauty.

I don't mean to go on a tangent, but a good way to prevent to have to risk "the gamble" is to squeeze 4 red spots around your bellybutton. There is some nerve there that relaxes your stomach. I just use my thumbs and index fingers squeeze the bottom, the top, and the sides until they're red. It should look like a diamond. It works everytime. This usually holds it an hour or two.
Sorry Eric. I'd hate for that to happen to anybody.
