I didnt think it would happen to me!
So I have been on the forum for less than a year now enjoying pics and conversations about TLs and every now and again cringing at pictures of wrecked TLs. Well on Sat it was my time to have my 2007 TL/S ruined by some f'ing lady talkingon her cell phone ... long story short I was sitting at a Red light and this chic not paying attention (shocker!) plows into the back of my TL going 25-30 MPH, YES no brakes! She decided to use my bumper as a brake! Needless to say I am screwed now because the dealership only says there is 17K in damage when I know there has to be more. They havent even tested the electrical systems and I know they are jacked becuse when I drove it home a few lights turned on automatically... and yes I was less that a mile from my house when I got plowed into.
Whats even funnier is that in front of me was a BMW 740IL and in from of him a BMW 328. The impact was so hard is caused a chain reaction and did damage to the 2 cars in front of me!! She got a ticket and has to pay for all 3 cars! Sure was an expensive call she was making!
Here is the aftermath ... pics are a bit dark due to snaping these at night in the garage! enjoy my pain!
BEfore:
After:
I will add that this is one of the safest cars our there! Nothing in the interior cabin buckled ... the trunk is like an accordian and the front just folded under ... what a great car! Too bad mine is all Fk'd up!

Damn bro, that really sucks. It never ceases to amaze me people who continue to talk on their cell phone and never think while operating a motor vehicle that they should ever pay attention to their surroundings while driving. I would of given her way more tickets than just three. Hopefully the car is repairable or they total it out and you can get something else. Best of luck with this!

the air bags didnt deploy since the main impact was from the rear (again great technology and safty for this car). I agree that it should be more!!!! I want this thing totaled so I can go and get another unblimished TL/S. I think the value has to be around 75% with the car KBB at $27,160 .... that is $20,370 to total it ... it has to be claimed totaled!!!!!!! I am waiting to hear back from their insurance. I will say Liberty Mutual is very good so far, all me to set up everything, the rental car, inspections, etc. Lets hope they follow through and total this damn thing!

I would go to some other dealer and some private shops and get some other estimates. I cant see the pics at work, but sounds like its bad. Although if you were able to drive it home, Im not sure it would be totaled. If your frame is bent at all it will be though. Keep us updated and good luck.

Wow, I would have been HOT at that lady! My biggest fear is being rear-ended especially when I'm on my motorcycle. I hear Liberty Mutual is pretty good, though. Hopefully they will act quickly to total it so you can pick up an '08 TL before they are all gone or an '09 if you like them. Glad you are ok. It is bad that your car could be a loss but at least you walked away. Could have been worse.

nah, don't count on it being totaled.. insurance companies and body shops are working together. they are not there for you. the insurance company will not total your vehicle. it's cheaper to rebuild/repair your car instead of totaling it... and of course the insurance company will save money while the bodyshop will make money. it's happened to me too. i ended up taking a big loss on my 2007' honda ridgeline with $16,000 worth of damages when the truck was valued at $20,000. i traded it in and got only $12,500 for it.

That sucks, if its not considered totaled; go after the insurance company for diminished value. If they don't I would say hire a lawyer, they will take probably about 30% of the final claim, but still it will be more money for you!!

Whoa damn shame to see such damage to such a nice car. I feel your pain and agree, Honda does make safe cars. My previous car was messed up when a full-size SUV (GMC Yukon) rear-ended me. I thought is was totalled but amazingly my insurance company (AIG) decided to fix the car. It was never the same... Too much cutting corners to keep the repairs cost down like using LKQ parts instead of OEM parts. So I sold it and got a new car.

Wow that alot of damage for that speed.
I got tagged around 35-40mph and i had the same amount of damage. Cost $6900 to fix the rear alone.
PM me if your trunk wont open and you need into it. My release got broken in my accident and i found a way inside from the outside (Sub/Amp covers pass through).
Good luck with repairs. You were re-ended so you get to choose whatever shop you want, id go with the most expensive. Also make sure you get Depreciated Value for your car. Im still fighting with the insurance company of the guy who hit me because they dont want to pay up. Little do they know my girlfriends mom works for AAA so i know all their tricks.

A similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago in my Mazda3. I was rear ended at a light and pushed into the car in front (which was totalled). My Mazda was only 8 months old at the time and I didn't want to keep it but insurance insisted it was repairable. Cost over $12,000 to fix. Good thing it was only a lease. I got out of the lease 12 months early this summer and that's when I purchased the TL.
One thing you should be aware of is that although you might feel fine now, a whiplash injury can take several weeks or more before you feel any symptoms. After about 6 weeks I started getting daily migraines and a stiff neck which would not get better. I ended up having 8 months of physiotherapy and even now, 2 years later, I still don't feel quite right. Call your insurance company and tell them to keep the injury case file open just in case.
Sorry about the TL - It was a stunner!

i too got hit in the blackura stopped at a red light.... person hit me around ...30-40mph... my damage was actually alot less, because there was no car in front of me.. so most of the impact force just pushed my car into the intersection
its a littly fuzzy, but i think my estimate was about $9k.... and i had ALOT less damage then you!!!

Damn... another NBP. I call dibs on headlights!!! J/K
I was in a similar situation, about 2 weeks ago, where i was rear ended and pushed into a vehicle in front of me. Mine is not as badly damaged as yours. I was watching her holding her cell on top of her steering wheel, texting. She looked up a little too late. Still waiting on Geico....
I hope all is well with your situation.

UPDATE! I got a call from Liberty Mutual and they finally totaled my poor TL/S ... they had to reinspect it since it was so close to the 65% damaged mark and the total damage came out to around 18K-19K. They ended up giving me 32K for the car and now I am searching all over the frickin world for my old car (RIP) ... 2007 NBP Acura TL Type S with less that 20K miles with MANUAL Transmission!!!! Anyone know a dealer with TL/S MT ... they are few and far between which just aggravates me even more about this situation!

I forgot to mention ... the dealer that inspected my car was nice enough to let me go into the engine and rip out my Ingen CAI and P2R TB Spacer & Gaskets (since the insurace didnt include that in the payoff check). Funny thing was someone already got the HID headlights out of my car!

should of taken the motor and tranny out and just placed it into a base model so you could spend 20k or so on the base, and the labor to put it in and you would still have some money left over to get exhaust, wheels and drop and so on

Someone is going to fix that car and make a killing off of it. I'm sure that can be fixed to where nobody would be able to tell it was hit like that unless they look closely.
