I Can't Believe It

I was at some rave thing tonight, having a great time, when I walk out with my friends to this. I just sat on the ground next to my car and stared at it, for easily 5 minutes. I was just speechless. My friends all knew how bad I felt. I'm going to give the insurance company a call tomorrow. It was a hit and run, no witnesses, nothing. The cop around the parking lot said he didn't see it happen and there really wasn't much to do. I spent about 15 minutes looking around to see if any cars were damaged, but I found nothing. My guess is someone hit it while leaving.

Sorry to hear that.

Look at it from the bright side, at least you don't have a Carbon Gray Pearl car with a type-s aspec rear.

If I got rear ended, oh boy. Time to get a new bumper, cut the bumper, get the a-spec, have it painted to match the color... blah blah.

Insurance should cover it with the comprehensive coverage

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you just take the bumper off and push that out from the inside? The bumper is just plastic that bends and flexes anyways right?

You could do this but chances are the paint will crack.

take a hair dryer to the outside for about 5 minutes before you pop it out. this will soften the paint a bit and hopefully prevent it from cracking.

ROFLMAO....you were at a rave what the fuck did you think was gonna happen? hummm a place where people are F'ed up on drugs, drunk, and overall retarded. Probably not the safest place for your car to be.

As far as your bumper goes you can probably pop it out from the inside and it will look ok, but there is still going to be stress/stretch marks fromt it being pushed in. Sorry bro, but thats the kinda shit that happens if your going to hang out at places like that. Hope you get it taken care of.

I went and looked at it in the light and the way it was hit, the bumper did more a crunch, it's not just a dent.

Stay away from those places, 1, you're too young, and 2 its a bad road that leads nowhere fast.

Ouch. I'd feel the same way you probably do right now. Sorry to hear. Insurance will get it all better though. New bumper FTW.

LOL, and also why the OP sat there for 5 minutes looking at it.

OP, sorry to see this, I know how much pride and time you put into your car, and for this to happen, just sucks! Looks like an easy fix though.

Just get a TL-S bumper cover instead. You would have to paint a new OEM bumper anyway, adding the lip in the mix wouldn't be too bad.

yeah not trying to sounds like a smartass, but damn OP, u were at a f'ing rave! people are faaar from just a little f'ed up...they're out of their minds. i've went to many of these when i was in high school and i've seen some pretty crazy shit. aside from a war zone, i can't think of too many other places with a more chaotic environment and a place that is anything but 'care free'. lesson learned i guess...

anyways, the bumper isn't that bad...it can certainly be 'fixed' without much effort. no biggie...but yeah, i understand that does suck.

on a side note, i just saw ur 17 so u still think ur invincible...take it from me man and relax on the whole rave scene if that's ur thing.

I still wasn't expecting to get hit. Yes I understand the circumstances, but it could of easily happened to anyone else. I was still careful as to where I parked and what not, but it happened. I've spent all morning looking at my options and I found a decent repair price which is right around the deductible of our insurance, so I don't think we are getting them involved. You live and you learn.

Lol I don't think I'm invincible, you don't even know anything about me, just that my age is 17. And this was the first rave I've ever gone to, a friend had an extra ticket and offered to take me. It was fun, but it definitely isn't my thing.

I'm going to see if I can find a bumper with a type-s lip on it for the same price or near a new oem one. I've been wanting ATLP quads for a while now, maybe this is my gateway.

Man that sucks.

That's why I always ride with someone else when I go to a party or something. And if I can't find a ride with someone else, I don't go. I know it sounds extreme but it's during these events that stupid stuff happens to your car.

GL with everything.

He said he went to a rave thing (that word kind of tells me it's not something he's familiar with), the car was hit, & you guys let him know that's the kind of shit that happens at raves; it's a life lesson for him.
But, I don't see any of his posts that could lead one to believe he thinks he's invincible. Maybe if he argued with everyone & made excuses for why this shouldn't have happened, sure, but he didn't. He accepted everyone's opinion.

I'll be blunt, though. I've known d-town long enough in person to figure out he's not one of these kids with that mindset. He actually takes incredible care of his car like any of the other well-known members here & doesn't take what he has with it for granted.

We don't know about the OP's life and judging him simply based on his age isn't needed.

Your best bet if you want to keep the car as "Factory" as possible is to get the factory bumper refinished (they will pop out the dent and realign it and such) and then get a TL-S A-Spec Kit and have the shop paint it to match your car!

The insurance will pay for the new kit and paint, and as well you'll still have the factory VIN sticker on your bumper.

Thanks for the advice. I went around all day and everywhere (Acura and 3rd party shops) told me that the way it was hit, it can't just be popped out and aligned. Acura quoted me 842 for everything, I went to my guy and he told me 500. Car goes to the shop on Thursday. I'm just going to stick with the base a-spec lip, I was just throwing that idea out there to see what feedback I got. I'm not sure why, but I expected Acura to quote me around 1000.

It's most likely a Dance Dance Revolution party at his friends' house and someone brought some glow sticks.

No offense to those shops, but I call BS. I had a license plate bracket and 4 bolt heads imprinted into my bumper and a shop refnished it without an issue. That dent is EASY to pop out and with some minor refinishing can look good. Most shops don't want to waste the time to get it to look right, they rather just order a new bumper and call it a day.

If you go with a new rear bumper, new paint and reuse your old a-spec lip, it'll be about 750 all said and done at the MOST. However if you get the TL-S one, it'd be about 950 since they would have to paint it.

In my opinion, if you really want to go for a TL-S style quad exhaust in the future, you should get it done now and save the money on putting on a new kit and having insurance paying to paint it.

I had some other members look at it tonight, including Rick_TL-S and trancemission and they all agreed it's a new bumper. I can't get a picture to show how it really looks.

The type-s looks the same as the base doesn't it? Isn't it only the lip that makes a difference?
