HIDextra 8000K HID install

Let me start off by saying, what a pita it was to do it, possibly because i was tired from the gym but yep, here we go.

Ordered HID's from the forum sponsor HIDextra last thursday, I live in Canada, so it arrived yesterday...which imo was wicked fast

I got myself some 8000K d2s for the headlights and 8000K H8's for the fogs. Very simple to install, just tedious

Came in a tiny package with no damage

Everything layed out

Since I didnt acurazine search the best way to get to the headlights, I just started taking shit apart.

Passenger side 8000K installed VS. Stock 4300K on Driver side.

^^^Stock

^^^8000K

Both installed...now time for the fog's

In stock form

The difference between the two...wow!

All done, and a nice blue tinge.

Sorry it wasnt much of a step by step install, just wanted to start the 8000k movement by showing the color different, and how damn good it looks!!!

Looks great!! Did you have to take off the bumper for the head lights only? Did you wire the fog lights to a separate switch? Was it just plug and play? Thanks!~

Had to take the bumper off to pull the headlight housing out to change the bulb.
It also makes life easier to mount the ballasts for the fogs.

My fogs are on the factory switch, but I had my friend rewire the switch so that I can turn the fogs on at anytime when the car is on, rather than just when the headlights are on

I don't think the picture is an accurate representation of what they look like in real life.

Ah, my blackberry makes them look more blue than they really are, once I find my camera, I will take some better shots

No glare from the headlights or the fogs surprisingly, so I dont think it will be an issue!

You might get pulled over if the police are grumpy, the light output is good, i can still see the road fine.

I used to have 8000K hid's in my pathfinder, loved it in winter

I had 8000k in my headlights for a while and dumped them, back to 4300k for me. After you run those for awhile at night (and if you do a lot night driving) You'll soon be going back to stock to see better lol It does flow very well with the car though

Too each their own.

I have 8000K in my Camry but I don't like them. I feel as if they shine as much as stock halogen bulbs.

looks good...i think 8k is too much and you lose visibility

i ended up going with 6k for the headlights and 3k for the fogs

I went from 8000k back to 6000k. The color of the 8000k are great but I couldn't see shit with them, especially when it was raining at night. Btw KBP FTW. I love that color

Lets see some pictures of that Smart Car

Btw I clicked the link in your signature and you have a SEXY 240. I love it.

110% agreed. 8000K gives you shit light output.. I noticed this when one of my 6000K bulbs went out so for the mean time I had 4300K in one headlight, and 6000K in the other. I thought there was something wrong with the 6000K bulb but I just realized that the output sucked ass. I can't imagine how crappy 8000K will be...

"To each his own" doesn't really apply since it's a proven fact that the light output is horrible haha. But......... cool beans, for matching the color of your car? lol.

Thinking of 5000K.

8000K was too blue and too low of light output for me. It does look nice tho since it matches the car lol.

Yeah, im going to have to agree with you folks. Granted the light output isnt THAT bad, compared to what im used to...which is the stock halogens in my s13

I will probably switch to 6000k soon enough or even stockers, who knows.

The smart car is my dads, bought it with those lame ass hubcaps lol.

and thanks CLtotheTL32 ... I love my 240...although it is broken right now

Yea I did so that I could mount the ballasts nicely.
Also you have to remove the bumper to pull the headlight housing out.

Job will done . Too bright for my taste but each to their own. Why didn't you go 3000k for the fogs? 3000k is great in any weather especially in the rain.

Looks really good. Nice job DIYing it!

IMO 6000k for headlights is perfect. That and 3000k yellow for the fogs

I got 6000k in my fogs and used yellow tint and love it!

The blue might attract too much attention from cops...plus I've seen way to many civics/tegs/other ricers with bright blue/pink headlights
