If you want your fogs to match identical to your headlights, you'll need to get a HID kit with some 4300k bulbs.

Like CLtotheTL said you will have to get the whole set (w/ballasts) to get the OEM look. You can't put HIDs in without the ballast. DDMtuning.com is a good cheap site to get the HID kit if your looking not to spend a much. I have a kit from them in my fogs but its 3k so there yellow but so far there holding up fine and I'm loving them.

I got 5K and its a tad bit more whiter than the OEM bulbs. I say shoot for maybe a 4300 or 4500.

I'm getting ready to order 4300k for my fog lights. What bulb type do I select?

If I remember right, DDM is in the process of halting sales on HID kits, but will keep a stock for warranty replacements.

OEM bulb temperature is at 4300K. OEM ballast brands are Mitsubishi, Matsuhita, Denso, and Valeo (only OEM ones I know of off of the top of my head). For bulbs, can't go wrong with Osram or Phillips for OEM bulbs. If I remember right, the TL's OEM ballast is a Mitsubishi. All OEM ballasts run at 35w.

Then there's always those halogen bulbs out there like Hoen Xenonmatch bulbs.

I run DDM 6k heads/3k fogs in my TL and mustang...I've had zero problems.

My only gripe with the 3k is they give off a yellow glow on the street, but the light itself looks white. I just ordered some yellow film to take care of that.

That is correct. DDM Tuning is NOT going to be selling HID kits anymore. They have had a set of mine on back order for over a month now. I plan on calling some time this week to just cancel my order and then I plan on ordering from HIDextra.com they have a great deal going on. $59.99 shipped to your door. Then slims are $79.99 shipped which still isn't too bad at all.

i am running 3000k fogs from ddm tuning. fully agree with you, not happy with the appearance of the bulb being white but the output being yellow. i also had to get a relay kit. the bulbs would blink when the engine wasnt on (headlights and fogs on only), even tho i switched out for a 15A fuse

Cool I thought so. I was originally going to get the 4300k but then more and more I became attracted to the whiter brighter look. Now I'm almost positive I'm going to go with the 6000k for my headlights and fog lights. Where did you get yours?

So from my understanding 6000k has a hint of blue?

depends on the bulbs too.

4300k = white + slight yellow tint

5000k = pure white

6000k = white with slight hint of blue

higher kelvins, the less brighter it is. stock is 4300k for reference. but I have 6000k low/fogs with no problem in visibility

to match it i would go 6000K

to add contrast i would go 3000K (yellow) or 8000K (blue) nothing more/less than that...

i have 8000K installed

Hey thanks for all your help flip_side. I bought 6000k for my heads/fogs from HIDExtra. Should be getting them in the mail today or tomorrow. I'll make sure to post a pic when installed.

5000K has a very slight bluish tint too, just not as much as 6K.

Here is a daytime pic of 4.3K Philips 85122+ headlights, and ebay 4.3K HID kit lower fogs. This pic didn't capture the color well, looks a little different in person especially at dusk or night. The ebay bulbs are slightly more yellow and red/pinkish, compared to the headlights.

The light output on the Philips rock.
