Heads or Tails

Some of you have been following the thread of my custom taillights, but I also have custom headlights too. It was a beautiful day in Chicago so I decided to take some pics by the lake. I'll try to get some night pics soon.

The front turn signals light up white and so do the front side markers. The front turn signals only only light up when the turn signal is applied, and the front side markers flash too. I'll show them lit with the night pics.

Looking good! Do you have a thread on your headlight mod? Any pics of your turn signals / park lamps lit up?

Get some gunmetal rims and the A-SPEC body kit and you're set!

You know, I was in Chicago a few weeks back in that very same spot (without my TL). Why weren't the lights done then, so I could see them in person?! Just kidding. The lights do look killer on your car.

How long have you spent working on the front and rear lights?? By the way, do you have another car to drive while your TL didn't have lights, or did you buy another pair of lights?

Thanks, I'm better with lights than I am with a camera. I think the blurr is glare from the sun.

For the headlights I bought a used damaged one to practice on, and then did mine one night and morning. For the taillights I bought two used 04 lights and two used base 07 lights, and I worked on those in my spare time for a month.

I was all signed up to go to the May 5th meet, but since it has been changed to the 28th I won't be able to make it. We'll have to plan another one this summer.

A lot of you guys are recommending gunmetal or black rims. I was thinking the bright silver wheels give some contrast to the car, and it matches the silver grill and trim. I like the 19" Legends in silver, and I was also considering the 19" RDX wheels in silver. What do you guys think?

Yeah I was thinking that but I still like mine brighter. I really like the look, but that's a trade-off I guess. I'm sure theres not much difference @ night.

I think the problem is a dirty lens? The blur seems to appear in the same place on all the pics.

Hate to say it but I kinda agree with him... if black is too much for you, I'd look into gunmetal or something... otherwise you've got yourself a very sharp-looking anthracite there! Congratulations!

looks great!!! post some pics of them lit up! Did you just buy aftermarket LED fogs and splice them into your signals?

Sorry I haven't replied lately. I was away on vacation all week. It was nice not having to drive for a week, but I was still looking forward to the first ride in the TL today.

For those wondering about the the front turn signals, they are LED fog lights that I mounted inside the turn signal housing. Click here for the link. In order to make them fit, I had to dremel out part of the turn signal housing, and they still barely fit. The light output is ok, but I still might work on a way to make it brighter.

About the brightness of the tails' LEDs, they're very close to stock even during the day. On my old tails I had the 20% rockblocker films. That is the lighter of the two films they offer, and those decreased the light output noticeably. I really don't notice much of difference with the custom ones and stock.

I'm still going to put together a DIY for the tails, possibly this week. I will also get some night shots together.
