Good news...

My wheels finally arrived!!!

After a 3 month wait, I got them all mounted up. They look right at home and the rear lip is crazy. Here's some shots I took with my Evo 4g:

And now for the bad news... what took 3 months to be created took all of 6 days to be destroyed!!!

The case is still open so I won't go into any details. Needless to say, it sucks that this happened right after putting my wheels on. But I'm still alive, so I gotta be thankful for that!

Thx guys... I'm still waiting to hear back from insurance co on wheter the car will be repaired or not. I'm kinda torn, on one hand I want my baby back but on the other I don't want to have a problem on my hands plus have to deal with the loss of value. We shall see!

Also... I gotta thank Acura for building quality cars, this car took a big hit and the pics don't justify it. I am very thankful I was able to walk away from this. A few years ago my Mom's 2000 TL was T-boned and the passenger side of her car was pushed all the way into the center console and she was pinned against a guard rail. She walked away with minor cuts and bruises. Needless to say either way I will be driving an Acura once this is all over

More bad news... insurance co just got back to me. They are gonna total the car out. According to the mechanic, the car has "extensive" engine damage. Keep an eye out for a part out soon.

WOW I'm surprised they totaled that out, doesn't look like its all that bad...but then again when I got side swiped and my mirror knocked off that was about 2k in damages just for a scratch, replace one mirror, replace two tires and repair a rim. At least your ok...keep your head up!

Thx for all the well wishes...

Question... I'm at the point where I need to start discussing the value for my car. It was an 07 w/ about 52,000 miles. Would KBB be a good idea for an idea of value? What else factors into this? I only owed about 11,000 on it so I should have a nice down payment for a new vehicle. Thx guys

That sucks. It's exactly what I'm afraid of. Dump a ton of money into it just to get it totaled. How hard was the hit?

What color is the interior? Just wondering if you're parting it out, I need some seats.

When I was in college, a lady hit my car and the insurance company decided it was a total loss. The claims adjuster literally took the local newspaper and highlighted "comparable" cars to mine and averaged the value. I asked about the blue book value for the car and told him it was higher than his estimated value. He told me that's how they do it. I demanded to see his list of cars. He had ten Honda Accords highlighted, all either 3-door or 4-door, most with 1.5-2 times as many miles. Mine was a 2-door. I told him he needed to recalculate his estimated value using only 2-door Accords within 5k miles or we would be having a very uncomfortable conversation with his boss about how bad he sucked at his job.

They revised the estimated value and sent me a check for a more reasonable amount.

Make sure you do your research on what comparable TLs, with similar miles in Philly are selling for. Don't forget the obvious, Navi vs. Non-Navi. Check the newspaper and cars.com.

Update: After driving numerous new and used vehicles, I decided to stay in the Honda/Acura family (my 4th straight). I picked up a '07 TL Type S color combo CBP w/ Ebony/silver. The car had a little more miles than I wanted, it had 48K miles but I got the dealer down to 23K for it so I'm satisfied. I originally was going to get a MRP w/ ebony/silver but the bastards at Bridgewater Acura screwed me twice. I'm not mad in the end I still got my Type S!

I came right home and put my Works on, so I'm back in business. Just need a drop and that should be done soon.

I'm sorry to here about your 07 TL, and glad you're okay.

Also, the TL-S is a very nice pick up. Hope to see some pictures after your drop.

Call me obsessed but the two tone Regal is what stood out to me in the first couple pictures...

Congrats on the new car. How do you like the S in comparison to the modded base?

Did you catch my Mom's 06 TL in the 5th pic ??? lol... But it's crazy you picked up on that, I never saw it there... I was in a zone!!!

As far a comparison, I never really got around to modding my Base TL to much (thank god). I can feel more power and better handling in the Type S, but then again that could be because I was driving a Focus since 7/25...

I'm glad to be back. For the price of this car it's hard to beat. I came very close to getting a '08 G35xS but i couldn't justify paying 32k, when the TL-S was almost 10K less. I can double up on my payment and it still is less than what I was paying for my Base TL
