Sure. The thing is that here in this area of N Cal, Sam's club offers gas prices nearly $0.30 cheaper than other places. Naturally, it gets pretty packed on weekends, and that's when I go grocery shopping. The summer here is pretty intense usually 100+ during the mid day, so in order to avoid baking in the sun sitting (with engine off) on a long line or building up a ton of engine heat with the a/c (engine on), I'll pretty much go to the shortest line. Usually these opposite pumps have less people waiting, and sometimes none, so that's where I developed my "technique" when I pump gas on the other side. It's mostly to keep the hose from scuffing/scratching the exterior. I actually finish very quick, and there is still plenty of room to pull around me, it really just looks interesting.
