I looked at a type s at the dealership with a new clutch at 40K. All I could think was that the previous owner did NOT know how to drive that baby. Worse than dumping...riding!
Yeah I really didn't think he could have destroyed the clutch that soon. The TL is by far the easiest manual I have ever driven to date. That dual weight clutch, or whatever the hell it is, makes operating the TL pretty much dummy proof.
Well.. Apparently not.

Curious.....Is it really that hard to drive a manual TL? I used to own a 03 rsx type s, it can't be too much different...
I knew this motherfucker couldn't drive stick. He was complaining how the clutch was shit after several months of ownership and thousands of miles.. blaming Paul and everyone bandwagoned like.. no way it was new clutch. Only a few were like.. this mother fucker probably can't drive stick.

Much easier to dump the issues on someone else.
What I do find interesting is that he could have been COMPLETELY honest - and told a potential buyer, "i did a transmission swap, and the case is cracked. A new case is $230, and labor would be about the price of a clutch job, maybe a tad more", dropped the price to $8500 for that, and BAM - the buyer would be stuck with a giant hunk of fuck with a bad trans.
I guarantee that everyone would still be siding with him that there was full disclosure and caveat emptor. I hope the next person that comes along to buy it doesn't get suckered...
I love this forum.. I'm new here y'all are funny and have made my depression of losing what I thought was a super sexy car, disappear. On the upside I ended up with a stock 2006 navi factory manual tl for a grand cheaper and 30k less miles that was actually close to mint.
After driving FROSTYs car and my new one I realize his tranny was far from right even when it had 4th gear. All the synchro were worn and when 4th went out 1st gear syncro was TOAST as well. Clutch engagement was pretty fucked up too. I had never driven any tl so the clutch engagement was not something I was familiar with. And the syncros I attributed to the shifter bushing replacements stiffening shit up. But nope. It was just fucked like Jenna Jameson.

I drove a turbo supra for 17 years (MT) and then switched to the 6MT. I stalled it out a few times on the test drive and occasionally the first month of ownership. It's a definite learning curve compared to other clutches. I won't even let anyone else drive it because I'm afraid they're going f'up the clutch...
Good goo

And a 2006. If you ever add a Hondata, that'll save you $300 in a harness..
As far as how these cars are to drive - I've been driving manuals for years - this car had the vaguest clutch engagement point of any car I've ever had - UNTIL I removed the check valve. One of the most important mods to do.

I think it's because the car I had before my TL was a 1999 Civic SiR and that clutch was the worst I've ever dealt with. It's like it had 18 inches of travel and was just a super soft clutch to begin with. There was nothing wrong with it- at least not over the 90k km I put on it. It just sucked. OEM too. Going to the TL was a nice upgrade.

For some strange reason this thread brings back memories of the thread where the kid posted pictures of an Audi (S5 I think) and claimed it was his. Shit got real when the actual owner came aboard
Damn I felt sorry for Frosty when I saw what happened to him with that swap! Now this!
CL is a shady place when I saw the ad and the cluster was a red flag of a swap and some shady business based of off the description.
Thankfully pushfour found out about this cars issues and saved himself from having to pay for an expensive lesson.

Genuinely asking for the record, we all know good/well done mods when we see them, regardless of who did them. And this is about as good a DD you can get. Especially for the right price, amirite Frosty??
I'd say it's naive to think he has any intention to update his ad. People of his caliber (lacking completely in morals) hardly turn over a new leaf immediately if ever.
I'd wager we've seen the last of him on this forum, since his true colors were shown. He could come and argue his point even more, but as I'm sure most everyone here would agree, his point is only valid to him, and he sees nothing wrong with what he did, and likely never will. Why would he change the ad now?
