Extreme! Floor Lighting !!
Floor lighting was a feature I immediately missed when I got my TL I mean seriously my 95 Acura legend had it WTF!
As I set out to install floor lighting in my TL it was very important to me how it was going to function. Honestly I put way to much thought into this then I should have, but once I get an idea in my head theres no turning back really. I made a little diagram below which basically explains how it functions but basically I wanted a mix of practicality with a cool factor rolled into one.
Wire Diagram This is the wire diagram I put together it literally took a weeks a few frustrating hours after work trying to figure out how to make it do what I wanted!! Im sure it could be simplified with micro controllers but my knowledge at this point is limited to diodes, resistors, & relays basically.
This picture shows both my dome & floor lighting in white plus my new phone mount!
I mounted the "Brain" of the unit inside the door near the speaker. It was a B*tch running new wires through the door!
For the LEDs I soldered my own units using blue superflix and these wonderful Nichie 20lm white leds which I was luckily enough to get through a group buy. These are one of the most powerful leds available that don't require a driver or heat sinks and the white color is amazing ! Not the cold cool white many probably associate with white LEDs. (Model if interested NSPWR70CSS-KI)
For the switch I used a spare heated seat switch I had and completely rewired it inside to function how I needed (This was a whole different wire diagram). The dimmer was a PWM dimmer I bought specially made to dim leds. I decided to mount it that little nook on the door.
I ran all the wiring under the carpet for the cleanest install possible
The rear lights I actually mounted in the carpet under the seats. (FYI- I have the shutter speed set fast so everything looks dimmer then it should)
MOVIE OF IT WORKING!!!

Love it! Love your work!
Is that a custom mount for your phone or did you buy it somewhere? Can you shed some light on it?
I'm in the process of making a custom phone holder for my N8 and that is a bit similar to what I had in mind.

Thanks everyone!
The mount is not custom, after much research I decided to go with the panavice car mount paired with the proclip phone mount.

The proclip is adjustable and will fit many different phones

The proclip, that's what I need! But it looks thick for what I had in mind.

Ya all the dome lights have contestant (+) and are triggered by a negative signal from the (IMCU). If you look at the diagram above the (-) PWM trigger is the same negative wire that goes to the dome lights to activate them. However I tapped into the wire near the fuse box not up at the dome lights.

Not really a huge fan of the blue under the dash... reminds me of something you would do to a Civic. Like i did in highschool! I love the white, its classy.

Trust me on a really nice new car like the TL that already has blue accents the blue floor lighting looks excellent. I agree though some cars it does not work, and all white is overwhelming not to mention terrible for night vision.

Maybe ill have to try it to see if i like it... I always thought it looked ricey but your right it would match the dash. Most likely ill stick with white! Props on the install, looks like it was cleanly done!

My last car was an Acura legend and I tried to add some blue accents and it looked terribly out of place and ricey. I ended up doing it all in white so I know what you mean for sure. When I got the TL I wasent sure what to do but blue accents just fit perfectly and looks really good so I went with it.
Not sure if you saw in the movie but I converted every interior LED to a mixture of blue/white so it all flows
However when the doors are open everything is white because it looks best against the leather, blue on leather to me looks shitty and ricey for sure. (Pics below are before the floor lighting project)

The floor lighting is awesome. I've got red underdash lighting in my Type S. The blue underdash lighting in the base TL I'm sure looks great.
