exiLe's WDP Daily Driver Build
I figured as the list of 'mods' that I'm going to do to this car contiuously grows (thanks AcuraZine) I might as well start a build thread to document the progress of this car.
As of right now the car is bone stock. I purchased the car from an Acura dealer with ALL of it's service records. It was a one owner vehicle that was bought/serviced/and sold back to the same dealer.
I picked up the 2004 WDP TL with 104K miles on it and the dealer performed the timing belt service with a valve adjustment and new water pump prior to me taking delivery.
Current mods planned for this car are as follows...
- Brembo Brake Swap (had these on my old vehicle and loved the confidence they inspired in braking - the looks aren't half bad either)
- TEIN SA coils (stock suspension currently at 114K as I write this is shot and needs to be replaced - OEM suspension is more expensive than these coils, so why not?)
- XXR 530's in Chromium Black [18x8.75 +20] (seems to be THE wheel WDP owners go with, and for good reason, it's clean yet aggressive and perfect fitment)
- 20% Tint all around
- Aspec Front Lip
I have some cellphone shots of the car but we all know those are no good. I'll be breaking out the DSLR here when the weather is semi-warm in Ohio and grab a few shots for the thread.
Until then, I have calipers on their way and I'll be sure to document the refresh I do on them (I'm thinking yellow for the caliper color).

I'll try to snag some pictures when I can this weekend. The car is bone stock and we're supposed to get hammered with 5-8" of snow throughout the weekend lol. Not sure how well WDP will show up with all white everywhere in the background and foreground but I'll give it a shot.
Considering she's my daily it'll be out there quite often! It'll be nice to see your Type S in person finally man.

Do your wheels come with 225/40 tires? How many miles on his TEIN SAs?
Not what my wallet needed during the Christmas season but you can't control when deals arise lol.

As promised, here are the pictures of the bone stock car.
Not much to look at but after the few mods I have planned it should look like a clean daily!

Yea, luckily the car has multiple layers of sealant and wax on it to safeguard the paint from winter and all the fun it brings along.
Brembos should be here Monday so I can start documenting the process of prepping them, painting them, applying the decals, and clear coating them.

Can't justify spending money on those when our winters are so hit or miss... Also, most of my life I have driven cars so I have had no way to pull a sled/atv around. I am looking at a 02, CrewCab 4x4, Dakota this evening though. 1st, 2nd and 3rd are almost useless with the tires on the wheels now. This will fix my need for a hunting vehicle so I don't have to bug my girlfriend to take her Jeep so I don't get stuck! Kill 2 birds with one stone.

No, I have a set of aftermarket waffles on it with All-Seasons. I have winter wheels on steelies but you know, Big Brake Problems, they don't clear. Don't feel like running my spacers to make them work since the salt will make them pretty nasty looking! This Dakota looks clean from the pics. If all checks out I will get it and straight to the shop for an under body coat as well as the wheel wells. I have seen some rust dumpers rolling around, so I am well aware of that!

Keep me posted on the Dakota man! That'd be a sweet winter rig if it's clean body wise.

Torn on the Dakota, has rust as usual, but not too bad. Strong runner but the owner had an OBDII reader in the console and that was it in the truck. Probably didn't think I would open things up. That has me questioning if he turned off the CEL before I saw it. Needs a little work but nothing I can't do myself. Do I spend the money on the truck and hope for the best or save the money for spring mods or winter rust repair. Rear fenders were rolled and the paint split before I purchased it. I am hoping if I wash it enough it will be fine but I will prepare for the worst... Quoted $3500 to have it fixed and paint blended, might try a different shop to see what they come in at. Reason I wanna look for a truck.

Just got these set of beauts in off a Type S part out - complete swap kit.
I'll be sanding them down, priming, painting, applying a Brembo decal, and clear coating them here over the next few weeks as I get time. (Gotta find something car related to do in the winter, right?)

Gonna go yellow caliper with a black "Brembo" decal.
I think between the WDP, yellow caliper, black decal, slotted rotor, and gun metal XXR 530 wheel the entire thing will really tie together nicely.

Trying to keep the mods of this car affordable and simple.
For yellow I can grab some VHT primer, yellow caliper paint, and clear coat for $40 tops and do it myself whereas a powder coater would run me at least $100 if not more.

Burnt copper requires me to go to a powder coater and I'd like to avoid that.

the actual color does not need to be high temp

no burnt copper will cost you 10 bucks haha. all you do is get some high temp base coat and then put ANY color you want from a spray can. then put clear coat on top (high temp). no issues and many members have done it. my current brembos are colored from a can of rustoleum that cost me $3 haha. my whole setup maybe cost me $30

Few more updates...
First, I owe BreezyTL a 6 pack of his favorite beer at a minimum. The guy is an outstanding dude, he knew I had interest in XXR 530's and contacted me via PM to offer his for sale at a very fair price. We did our best to arrange a local pick up when I traveled back to Chicago for the Christmas holiday but work called me back to OH the day after Christmas for an emergency onsite. Fast forward to today and I will be picking up a set of RPF1s local to me for an incredibly great price ($500). So Breezy held these wheels for me for several months with both of us anticipating a sale happening but due to circumstances around the holiday we were unable to complete the transaction. Breezy, PM me your drink of choice, I owe you this at the very least.
Second, I had an odd 60 degree day yesterday here in OH for January and decided it was time to debadge the TL after I washed it. The rear end on these cars look so much clear with just the acura logo in the middle, it's more aesthetically balanced.
I'll be placing my order for TEIN Street Advanced Z coilovers in the coming weeks. At that point I'll have all my parts ready to go for a spring install.
The RPF1s are silver instead of a gun metal colored wheel I was hoping to pair with my WDP and yellow Brembo calipers so I may give dipping them "Hyper Graphite" a shot. Or, I might just try them as silver first to see how it looks.

The specs on the RPF1s are nothing aggressive, just a 17x8 +45 wheel. I'm planning on running a 25mm spacer all around which will workout great because when winter hits next year I can just keep them on and re-torque them down before throwing on my stock wheels and it'll keep my stock wheels a more flush fitment as well.
Thanks man! I'm serious, let me know what beer of choice you have and I'll send an order out, I owe you one. The ass defintely needs an Aspec kit. I have plans of ordering WDP painted front and rear lips in the next few weeks, is yours already painted WDP?
I'm stoked to get the coils and Aspec parts in so I can finally get all these parts on come March/April! Hoping it looks as good as I envision it.
