The end of a 5AT TL's journey.

Eric says: haha I think i'll have to agree with you. This is a crazy ass task, and i've only just now gotten started on it.

Man do you guys ever start typing a post, and then it's kind of lengthy,..and then when you go to submit the reply it says webpage not found?? Well that's what I happened last night when I was typing a reply.
SO what's going on is this...
I purchased a 05 WDP 6MT with 41,000 miles on her.
I've been swapping the parts over from the 5AT, and it's taking a lot of work.
The 6MT tranny is seriously a beast, and i love it.
Also, i've painted the interior panels, and now have a black and red color scheme going on.

Your new mission: Find a way to put some sort of Turbo/Twin Turbo engine in your new TL. Then you will be god of all TL's

Eric had stopped by last Friday to pick something up and I didn't hear the car pull up. I was in the garage, peaked out and saw a virgin wdp. I figured it was a loaner until he got out and pointed to the brembo brakes. I had a smile from ear to ear. The car is really clean and it sure looks well taken care of. It sure is a nice platform to make a beast out of her.
I might need to take a ride over the house to seehow many TL parts are laying around. You are doing it the right way by starting with a new car. A swap of transmissions is a problem waiting to happen. Nothing wrong with being under warranty during all of this.

I MIGHT do that too next year, switch my stuff over to a 6spd TL-S.
But only MIGHT, and I'd probably tell a shop to do it for me. Hahaha.
Cuz I need 6spd.
Hence the word "need"

Glad to see its staying. (well, a diff car, but it will appear the same)
You EASILY have one of my fav TLs ever. Your car actually made me kind of take a change in direction as far as modding goes.

Eric, this is awesome. Your car's the reason I venture over here from the TSX boards from time to time. The 6MT version is going to be an unholy beast of truly epic proportions, and I can't wait to see some dyno sheets/timeslips/videos/pictures/everything.
Do work!
Do work!

Are you going to strip the interior on the 6M/T like you did on the 5A/T?
The 6M/T will be faster for the 90lb weight reduction and the added gear will only mean you are that much faster than the 5A/T.

You did good! Thanks.
I've taken some pics along the way with both of the TLs apart.
Thanks! I've spent some time under the hood paying attention to some of the little details. I've been messing around with a wire brush attachment on the power drill and have been eating away some of the metal surfaces to give it a little shine.
haha he's done some crazy things as well. I'm glad you're liking your new wheels,...still waiting on my order.
Now that would be pretty cool. Would definitely take some ingenuity.
Thanks bro, how's your 6MT holding up? Did you make it to the show in Atlanta the other week?
6MT is a winner! haha a lot of people want to buy the bronze TEs.
Well I'm sure it can be done after seeing the longitudinally mounted J35, twin turbo, rear wheel drive drift Honda Element. Have you seen that thing?!..if you haven't search for it, and then imagine that setup in a TL.
I know Vinny, i've been sluggish on the photos this week, but they're coming though.
haha, you're right, it'll look about the same for the most part.
Versus Motorsport. Thanks!
It's called DEBT! haha.
I'm glad you made it by the other day. It was good car talk! And thanks for offering a helping hand.
You'll trade your 5AT in for a 6MT as well right?! Join the club!
haha key word need.
Thanks bro, that's a nice comment. I'm glad it served as a little inspiration to go a certain direction with your car.
haha you said epic proportions. I'm glad you ventured over from the TSX to check it out. and like Big said, DO WORK SON!
Vinny, are you still in town? Let's meet up.
haha sorry for scaring you. Thanks! I'm doing what I can for the TL world.
haha, and it feel likes i've gone back in time too. A world of driving in luxury, equipped with heated leather seats, and power tilt mirrors.
Yes i've already begun the interior strip. The rear seats and trunk components are out so far.
And starting with 90lbs lighter right off the bat is icing on the cake!
It's a small world man,..and the older i get, the smaller it becomes. My girlfriends brother lives there, and he'll be getting married next year, so maybe we'll try and meet up. And i'm glad you like what i've done to my car. Tell your buddy I said thanks too.
haha it was indeed about that time. And thanks!
Congrats on your new TL. It definitely feels like a different car. So your script says ex-wheelwhore, are you done going through wheels?!

Eric's TL will always be Legendary, lol. It's crazy because when i first met my friend in the s2k, he was actually talking about how much he liked my TL and how he's seen this hella modded ass TL in the east coast with a brother with a sick ass s2k.. First thing that popped in my head was their photoshoot together and i asked "Are u talking about Eric's TL?" he was like. YEA! that's him.. hella sikk!!!"
