Any reason you decided to go with the meatier tire in the rear despite the square setup?

Only reason was because I already had the 235's on hand that came off my Cosmis when I switched to snow tires. If I hadn't, I would've gone with 225/40's. There is some rubbing on hard bumps, so I may back off to a 10mm spacer w/ extended lugs.

if it's just for the 5MM set up, John...get another set of 225 and swap out. Extended stud install wasn't THAT bad for me, but my car has never been in snow/salt so I'm not sure you'll get the assembly off easily.

Either way...I LOVE how they look on your car. If we were local, we could totally do a good vs evil photoshoot.

Love the shots John...car and the wheels look amazing...

235 tires on a 18x9 +14 is very damn aggressive and impressive

Yeah, I've been weighing my options of going with a 225/40 versus the 10mm+extended studs route. I do want to swap my rear rotors with the zinc-coated black ones, so I figure I could kill 2 birds and throw on the extended studs at the same time.

Question, with the extended studs, I was looking at an Ichiba kit, but it doesn't say how long the extended studs are. Can I assume that they will be 10mm longer than the stock studs??

Thank you sir...it aggressive indeed. I shaved off more of my rear fender last night and it definitely helped but didn't 100% cure it, so I may shave off more. It never ends hehe

Love the Advans! They looked darker in your teaser shot but still look great on your car John!

Your car is what my car aspires to be... (or is the material of its wet dreams at night...)

^LMAO! Yeah, the finish is called "bright chrome" and is pretty unique. It is definitely NOT chrome...more of a gunmetal chrome. It looks different in different lighting/angles. I'm really liking it.

Thanks for all the compliments!!

wheels look great, i love that color and have always loved similar wheel designs to these (but could never afford them so i got the xxr 530s haha).

did the 18x9 +29 clear brembos without spacers? any chance you get the weight of the rims before you put them on?

They clear the Brembos with plenty of space. No issues there.

I didn't weigh them, but they are significantly lighter than the Cosmis were. This guy weighs the 18x10 versions in this vid:

IIRC, they are 41.5 lbs for 18*9 +29 with 225/40/18 so give or take for added rubber, and that's when they were new.

John...the studs that come in the kit normally can accommodate a lot more than only 10MM. Biggest complication I faced was having it be long enough for v1 10's...but short enough to run the stock lugnuts if I ever drop back to no spacer. They did accomplish that but there was a lot of work involved.

On the rear, the studs are easier and harder to swap because you need to remove that huge axle nut to take the entire assembly out, bearing and all...then you can hammer them out and back in and hope you didn't slip and hit bearing etc...

definitely within your capabilities but if you can avoid it, I would.

I like that they now have an even more aggressive offset option of +25 for 18x9 available too!

Its really between these and the Volk ZE40s if you want a wheel with this look in my mind, but the ZE40s are at LEAST 200$ more per wheel

Then again I didn't even know they made the ZE40s until this morning when I stumbled on them on a local Craigs ad lol

I wholeheartedly blame you two for turning me into a wheelwhore that's craving his fix lol. I'd love to see a joint photoshoot with these two cars. Would be epicccccc

Definitely agree. I'm not so sold on the look of the Volks either, and I'm not itching for the Rays brand name either, just not my thing

My only worry is that the studs will be too long for the Mu lugs (even with the 10mm spacer mounted), and I'll strip/ruin them as I torque them down. FKK...now I'm reconsidering just ordering 225/40's.

yeah the Advan RS were definitely in my list when I was looking for lightweight wheels...I was surprised since the Advans are cast wheels and they weigh very very close to the some of forged wheels...

if I remember right, the Advan RS 18x9 +29 weigh in right under 18lbs (17.8 or 17.9)...

John, being steel, they likely won't strip, but they WILL kick the aluminum teal endcap off the mu lugs!

I can dig around for measurements if you need help ordering the correct size studs. I'm assuming none of your stocks are messed up so other than for the spacer, you don't need to change studs, right?

Between this car and Jeremy's, it doesn't get much better than these 2 TL's.

I know exactly what you mean...
I love that you can now roll at a nice low height, that was my only gripe about the air with the aggressive wheels was having to look stock while rolling...

It ate at me for a long time, but it looked so good when aired out, so I dealt with it. All good now!
