"DIY" home depot lip

"DIY" home depot lip
After seeing this "lip mod" on ebay for $50 bucks, I did some googling and found out I can make one for about $10. So here is my quick write up on improving your A-Spec front lip.
You need
* garage door bottom seal 9ft.-Home depot(make sure it is foam rubber)
*(optional) a few wing nuts, bolts, and washers
*double sided trim tape(3m)
*scissors
1. Jack the front end up and use a jack stand. (yes my side skirts are missing)
2. Unravel the door seal the length of the front bumper. Hold the door seal up against the front lip to get an idea on how it will look.
3. Unravel the 3m tape and apply to one side of the door seal. I had to break up the tape into large sections due to the curves of the front lip. If you can neatly apply the tape in one long strip, go for it.
4. Starting on one side peel back the doble sided 3m tape, line up the door seal how you like, and apply pressure. Don't worry we can trim the excess by the wheel well later.
5.(optional) The spot where the front lip starts to curve upward was tricky for me to line up. This is why I had to split up my 3m tape instead of one straight line. To add some strength I drilled four holes, pushed a bolt through, added a large washer, and secured it with a wing nut.I have four total. 2 right where the lip curves and 2 near the wheel wells.DO NOT use screws, incase they fall out and pop a tire. These can be added anywhere you think the door seal may sag in the future.
Here is an under shot right under the "acura" logo. I decided to apply a little trim adhesive here, but thats up to you.
6. Apply some tire shine if you like.
You're done!!
Yay

just let them drive around like this for a while. it WILL eventually peel, fall, or tear off. once they wake up and realize how cheap and silly this is they'll completely remove it.
the "looks or appearance" of it is cool. the "REALITY" of it is, its a cheap temporary mod, that belongs on a garage door
not trying to hate on anyone who has this, just giving my

Stop this craziness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks much much better when installed carefully and patiently, good example is sandiegodrive's car
Seems like a bunch of people rush to get it on, then get all sorts of bulges and inconsistent alignments
And painting it!?? Are you fricken kidding me?

I don't see the big deal with the home depot RACING lip. Everyone who has seen it on my car is really impressed with it, plus it costs me around $10. It is only temporary until i can afford something nicer, like an A spec kit. A lot of people on here are making a big deal about, personal i think you should being flaming the guy with neon in his grill; that looks horrible! and he probably spent a lot more money than anyone with the lip.

You know what I do when I don't have the extra money for the mods I want?
Nothing.
I'm not afraid to admit that I've fallen on rough times (monetarily) over the past few months, but I don't go to HD looking for things I can stick on my car.
And I seriously LOL'd at the clamps the above poster used to attach his "lip".
