DEPO side markers

Sorry I am sure this has been talked about before but i can't find any info using search on this forum. I even tried it in google with "acurazine" in the search field.
I just taled to the dealer ship and they want 105$/side for rear type s side markers. I don't wanna spend that much money so I hit up the good old ebay and I found some DEPO side markes. They only come in a set of 4 because they are different then the stock front ones. Does anyone have these sidemarkers on their car and if so can I see some pictures? They look darker so I dont know how they will look on my SSM and what is the quality of these?

I just bought the set from eBay. I've installed just the rears yet, I'll try to get pics for you later, but I have a NBP 08. Quality seems ok, however my biggest gripe so far is that they don't "click" in as hard as the stock on one side, so I don't think the "seal" is as good as OEM. It actually rained this weekend, so I was afraid water was getting in. Also, note that they look different from OEM. The OEM is a light gray, whereas this product is more of a darker, black/gray in color, and is more "clear", rather than "translucent". the Seller on eBay was very communicative. I'm still happy w/ them so far, just not happy about the fitment, but I don't think I would have paid for the OEM, but 105 is close to the 70 bucks I paid. In hindsight, maybe I would have paid the 105, but now it's too late for me.

you paid 70$ for all 4, dealer wanted 105$ for 1 rear side marker. There is a huge difference haha. Yea please put up some pictures even if it is a NBP. I just wanna see how the sides themselves look. Also if you can take a picture at night with them on.

just installed the type-s sides and tails from depo.... I agree with the lack of tight fight that OEM has... I ended up shaving a little bit of the padding on the side marker and was able to get it to "click" in a little better, but still no where near the fit of the OEM sides... I will definitely be checking after it rains to make sure I am dry inside...

Not the best pics...

DEPO

OEM

Like you, I couldn't imagine spending that much on the OEM side markers. These don't look THAT terribly bad as some people think imo. The leds look a hell of a lot better than the stock ones (I have an 04), and you can see the difference in the pics above.

I had no problem with getting these in and I have no leaks. I like the OEM ones, but I'm trying to keep everything on the outside of my car black and white, and these are more black and the OEM ones are more of a grey.

Not everybody may think this looks the best and may hate it, but then again, the car is yours, not theirs.

+1

I had to point them out at the last meet I went to. Nobody really noticed or even cared that they weren't OEM. Well worth the money imo.

yea I saw that but exchange rate to canadian dollars, shipping to canada, duty=not worth it. Also those darker ones go better with blacked out headlight. And that's a future mod

pics and a video

This is an ANCIENT video of mine and a few pics. It shows the depot sidemarkers. BTW, in this video, I had modded the front pair with white LED's. Since then, I have gone back to stock fronts which I turned into switchback sidemarkers

They are both are nice, the OEM are a like grey smoked and the depo look a little more blacked out. So depends on what look you like more. Functionally they are the same.

I bought these from ebay and personally I think they are garbage. I tried putting one in and it didn't click. I tried shaving a little bit of the foam gasket to see if that helped and still nothing. It kept popping out. Then when I went to take it out, the light fell apart in my hand. I had to return them and file a claim with paypal because the seller didn't want to exchange or refund. It was a big hassle. Personally, I would spend the extra $30 and get it done the right way. It's worth the extra money just to save the time and hassle.

Holy shit that's a huge bummer man! I can't believe that happened! I didn't have that problem whatsoever. Good luck getting it all resolved. So you are planning on just getting the OEM ones?

What is the price difference between OEM and Depot? I like OEM to have the piece of mind.. but its all cost dependant. I wonder how much just the 2 rears cost... since the fronts are already smoked.

I think I got them on a group buy at $105. And the Depot or $70 for all 4? In that case I'd still do the OEM for just another $35 more.. I mean I understand you get 2 front with the DEPOT package but.. we don't need them. Thats my take.

I did get the oem's and I am very happy now. It was worth the extra $35. Trust me on that one.

Well shit...when I ordered my DEPO ones, there was no way in hell I could find the OEM ones for that cheap

I love my DEPO ones though. I had a perfect and flush fit with installing mine, no problems whatsoever.

I think the OEM ones are more grey than black and therefore I actually wanted the depo DEPO ones. Also, the OEM ones still have regular bulbs in the, while the DEPO ones have really bright LEDs (2 amber LEDs in the front and 3 red LEDs in the rear) and they look really good, very clear. Below are a few pics of the DEPO ones on my car to show the brightness of the LEDs at night. In the 2nd and 3rd pic, you can actually see the reflection off of the wall from the LEDs.

I'm not trying to sway people to or from getting the OEM ones, I'm just giving my experience with the DEPO ones and giving pictures of them in action since the pictures on eBay don't really do so.

Thanks man, I appreciate it

I'm going for the all white/black theme for my car, and the OEM ones are neither one of those colors haha. I'm blacking them out soon too. Just a light coat so the LEDs still look good.

ebay. 100$ or so for the type s rear, or 80$ for all 4 depo ones that a little bit different than type s ones.

I had them for a short while befroe modding them. They arent more amber, just brighter because the lens is clearer so more light escapes

oh ok.. becuse I installed some amber LEDs in my turn signals and the side markers are more yellow then amber. So I need to figure out how to make my side markers MORE amber.

Agreed. They do seem brighter because of the clear cover over the LEDs. LEDs just look better and clearer than traditional bulbs anyways

These aren't the best pictures, but they are the best that I could find that sort-of show the brightness and amberness (I made up a word) of my DEPO side markers.

Since these pictures have been taken, I "smoked" all 4 of them using a can of Nite-Shadez. The same stuff that's used for blacking out tail lights and such. I did two coats on each one not really thinking about how the light would look through it. Even though I did two heavy coats on each, the LEDs still shine through nicely. I'll try to post pics within the next few days if anybody wants.

Forgive me on this next picture. I was too busy messing with the settings to realize that it wasn't focused when I took it. You can still see the color and brightness just fine though.

One more thing....somebody buy my wheels!
