Custom steering wheel and arm rest lid. Pics in the Type S!

Received my custom steering wheel and arm rest lid today from Dallas Custom Steering Wheel. Thanks to sockr1 and KJ-TLS I found out about this place and was able to improve upon one of the weakest things of the Type S interior....the incredibly skinny steering wheel!! This new wheel literally makes it feel like im driving an entirely new car. The total diameter of the new wheel is just a tad under 4 3/4". LOVE IT!!

I will let the pictures speak for themselves! Thanks KJ and sockr!

You're welcome!! Glad you like it especially knowing you're picky haha. It really does increase the daily driving feel and is a HUGE difference compared to the wimpy OEM wheel!!

Wheel and armrest look great!

The price is as follows:
Steering wheel = $449 + $30 for perforated leather on sides
Arm rest lid = $199
Shipping = $18

Total cost was $696....minus whatever I get for selling my original steering wheel. They offer $70 back core return which I just may end up doing since im not getting any interest on my original wheel.
So if you wanted just the wheel done you could get do it for $427 when all said and done after returning your original wheel (without doing arm rest lid).

I do have to get an alignment now as the steering wheel is slightly off center as each wheel is slightly different and it wasn't able to align in the notches like my original.

That looks absolutly amazing! How the TL-S wheel should have looked. I'm still working with a company on a flat bottom carbon fiber/2 tone leather wheel. I'm resisting sharing pics of the conecpt one until it's finished.

BTW, nice ride. Looks immaculate.

rather than the finish...

i like how the steering wheel looks more how do i say...bigger?..like they put extra foam inside of it?...

to be honest i hate the OEM wheel...because the circumference of the steering wheel is too small..not the full round of the wheel..but the bar you grab...

Agreed.

I'm anxious to see your flat bottom steering wheel pics......for obvious reasons.

Well good news I avoided having to take my car to the dealer and pay to get an alignment. I did some research and found it's actually pretty darn easy to recenter the wheel yourself. Since the car has such low mileage and a perfect alignment as is, and the fact that I try to do my best from letting anyone else touch the car, I did it myself. It was as easy as turning both tie rod adjustments equally just enough until the wheel was perfectly centered. Tightened the nuts back up and she's perfect!
I'm really diggin this wheel it makes the car so fun to drive lol

That's half the reason to get this upgrade...you have two choices for foam padding under the new wrap so it's going to be bigger either way. This is the thicker padding which is what I did too and it feels amazing.

When you put them side by side and feel the rewrapped wheel it's a huge difference

Looks awesome James! Glad you're enjoying it!

It's crazy how something like that makes the car feel so much more sporty. For awhile after I got it I was driving much faster just because it felt like I should!

Yeah I hear that. I keep emphasizing how it feels like an all new car, but I guess thats because its the main thing that you are constantly holding and using to control the vehicle so it makes sense. Not to mention its right in front of you so you also see it at all times. For anyone looking to burn a few hundred bucks this is highly recommended!
Also, I take back my previous post about saving the money and not having to do an alignment. This morning I wanted to tweak it a bit more and im still having a tough time getting it perfect. I messed with it so many times now that I feel like the sides are probably off now. Either way a fresh alignment cant hurt so im gonna get that done later today from Acura.

Now that is how the OEM wheel should be. The picture showing the two beside each other makes the stock wheel look way too skinny! I'm sure this one feels much better too.

I ordered a carbon fiber flat-bottom steering wheel for the Stingray. It arrives next week. It has that same material on the side of the wheel as yours.

Wow this is awesome! I dished out the cash for the OEM CF wheel and I think it's pretty cool. The only thing I wanted to do to it was change the color of the stitching. Now I'm second guessing lol.

Looks awesome James!!

I just saw this thread and I drove two TypeS with pretty much the same exact steering wheel. I thought it might have been a dealer option as a few others had the stock wheels. It makes sense now.

I love the look, but Yikes ~ $700 for an armrest & SW makes my wallet wince.

My Armrest is complete shit though so I'm going to have to do something with it, still, 199...I was considering doing this project:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...armrest+poland

How does the Houston compare to the Redline Center Console ArmRest in your guys opinions?
