It is not complete yet but most of the hard work is done.

DIY is not for the beginner in fiberglass or body work

I like the dark grill on the Silver TL too. You might consider doing your roof in black, since your grill is black.

That would be easy with vinyl. but i am going to hold off a bit on any painting just yet. Doing the stereo this week. I will start a tread for all the mods that i have done so far. Most of them are simple and easy but creative. the best on that i know of is the 10 watt leds for the back up lights. I can see out the dark tint at night and it looks factory still.

If you'd like to continue on with this thread and update it with future mods, go ahead. Myself or any other Moderator can change the title of the thread for you if and when you add more mods to your car and want the title of the thread changed.

Not bad, but your car doesn't look like it's finished; looks like it's still in a transition state which makes it look a bit awkward, not gonna lie.

Looks very unique... but at the same time it makes the TL look very incomplete and as if it's missing something.

+1^, It's like to grille is too custom because the rest of the car is fairly stock still. But I think it will look good once you have some other additional supporting mods.

I agree. It looks as if it's missing something.

It does look like it was done perfect and very clean, so I give you props for that

I personally don't really like that look. It just looks like something is missing... But if you like it that's all that matters.

It doesn't look good IMHO. But seems like everyone else likes it, I also agree that it looks in the transition state. Maybe if you finish it up, it will look good.

I think the part for me that makes it look weird is the cross piece of the grill. It just seems like something should be there on it and there is nothing. I'm curious to see what it would look like without the cross piece.

the quality of the work looks awesome, but like other people said. it looks like something is missing.
i think the grille could be pulled off if the car looked different, like noticeable drop, wheels, and lip kit.

Ok guys i just got the car about two months ago and was doing some little stuff and yes the car is in a transition state currently.

Planned Mods

Exterior
debaged
xm antenna delete (possibly, need to look at it when the stereo is oing in to see how big of a hole is there)
19" Wheels Black center and silver lip to match the car
Finish the grill
struts and springs ( about 1 inch"ish")
front and rear lips (a-spec??)
roof spoiler
trunk lip
10 watt LED back up lights (done)
Lens Film (lamix-x charcoal film all the way around)
8k Hid Bulbs (done)
Piaa Ion Yellow Fogs (done)
(maybe ) lower fogs/driving lights
tint 18% (done)

Performance
lite exhaust work, mid muffler delete (something to add a bit a note to it)
nothing else

interior
Stereo going in this week
Image dynamic xs65 (front)
Image dynamic ctx6 (rear)
JL Audio 8"w3v2 Sub in the deck tray
JL Audio xd 6/600 amp
Cache coe8 (signal /line driver)
pac audio (nav to tv)
Back up cam
Dice ipod adapter (done)
stereo will 100% stealth with 0 loss of space (i have two kids need the trunk space)

interior led swap blue/white
doom light / marker lights leds (done)

still have a long way to go but that is why they call it a project right?

and yes i do agree that some thing is missing with the grill

the OE grill was used to create this grill. the acura ""A" was cut out and replaced with fiberglass and smoothed and painted the bumper had to be trimmed to fit correctly

Well first was take the bumper off
then remove the silver trim pieces
then the two grill pieces
I will call the silver one with the "A" on/in it "Bar"
and the other with the mesh in it "mesh"

take the "mesh" and trim out the mesh from it leaving a ring of meterial and the mounting cross area for the "bar"
at this stage you will see that the bumper of the car is also intergrated with the grill, that was trimed down so that the slimmer "bar" piece would fit back on.

the same goes for the "mesh" piece.

at this point i painted the other two trim pieces (originally brushed alum looking) Black

then i started on the "bar" i cut the top half of the "A" logo out and then laid some fiberglass weave across the open area , from the back side. started with about three layers. before applying the fiberglass make sure to rough up the back side of the "bar" and feather (taper the top side and back side) so the cross section would look more like " < " than " [ ".

after that layer dryed i followed up with about three more layers from the front again rough up that side as well.

you may have to build up areas if the glass droops

repeat same process for the bottom half.
i didn't cut the "bar" in two pieces i didn't know if i would be able to get them re aligned right

at this point sand smooth ( i use a 12" piece of mdf as a backing to sand 60 grit paper for a rough smoothing

i used bondo to smooth it out the rest of the way. but the guy at the paint shop said that i should have used a plastic bumper repair material instead of the bondo.

then had some one prime and paint it

that is it in a nut shell

I am planning on adding a mesh simmiler to the factory style if i can find it but i have been side tracked on the exterior mods for a bit.
