CTL's 08 WDP Base Progres Thread
CTL's 08 WDP Base Progres Thread
I finally had some time this weekend to give the car a nice cleaning and start the first bits of my mod work! So I figured I'd create a progression thread since there are about 10 things that I want to do.
I called the thread CTL's because I hate this username, made it 7 years ago for I don't know what reason and its already associated with my main email so I didn't feel like making a new account
I had a '92 vette at the time, but not any more so the name was oh so clever at the time
Onto the pictures! First, here are some before pictures, all taken with a canon rebel Ti2.

fat a$$

New floor mats! (ty ebay)

Interior

More ass

And onto the first mod attempt! Blacking out the grill, 'cept for the emblem. Here's the tape job:

And this is after the first coat still wet:

I didn't finish until 8PM so this is the best I have for a finished shot. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to-redo the middle bar because some of the tape was too close to the piece I was removing from which pulled it funny. I tried using a razor to cut it as I pulled, but apparently plastidip doesn't really like that so much and it left this serrated edge. Oh well, I learned a lot and think the rest of my plastidip project will go very smoothly after understanding how it works

Next up: Plasti-dip madness!!
-Chrome piece on hood
-Chrome pieces near fog lights
-Chrome license plate accent
-Stock wheels, mostly for me to decide whether or not I like black rims before spending $1k on them.
I'm still debating on spoilers, not sure the car needs them so at the very least I'll hold off on them. More to come!

haha, unfortunately I have OCD when it comes to a car's paint condition and there are a bunch of little pits and spots that I *need* to have taken care of... but I have no clue how to do any of that yet. add that to the list of crap to learn over the next few months!

Two things....
1. Nice work on the TL.
2. If you'd like to change your user name, shoot me a Personal Message and I'll help you get it changed to whatever you like.

Here's a new shot of the grill, completed AND in the daytime. I'm still planning on redoing the middle chrome piece, but I'm very happy with how it came out, overall. I will say this: the little handle attachment for using with spray paint is well worth the $6 it costs...

next up: the back chrome piece. I really like doing 1 thing per weekend, keeps me from feeling rushed and it will keep me busy for a while. I still need to find someone in northeast Ohio to do tints and the vinyl roof, that'll be the first major part of the build (aka stuff I don't think I can do myself).
