autumnfalls Jan 28, 2008 11:53 AM

dude that suxxxxxx. hopefully ur not injured

timmahh Jan 28, 2008 11:55 AM

Interesting.. I take it you were not at a 4 way stop since that looks like a pretty good speed impact?

korrupted Jan 28, 2008 11:55 AM

Just as long as you're OK, a car can be replace, I'm suprised the windows didn't shatter.

ILLustriousUA6 Jan 28, 2008 12:27 PM

wow... real glad to see that you are OK.. geezus...

Soccer_playa1579 Jan 28, 2008 12:42 PM

djbonsu Jan 28, 2008 12:43 PM

DEFINTELY GLAD you are ok man.....it really could have been alot worse....lets hope they can fix ur TL and have it back to the way it was before the wreck IF IT IS NOT DEEMED TOTALED!!....g' luck man...

stillhere153 Jan 28, 2008 01:49 PM

it's not fucked up if it's his fault...

sixsixfour Jan 28, 2008 02:52 PM

was it a 4-way stop? if it wasnt and your lane had a stop sign while the other car didnt, its gonna be tough proving you right.

glad you're okay though.

LyfeIs Jan 28, 2008 03:34 PM

Without knowing any details, I would think that if the cop and the insurance said he ran the stop sign, then he probably did. :2cents: Down here right on red is legal and these ppl dont even slow down.

Just glad no one was seriously injured.

BLACKURA_NY Jan 28, 2008 04:24 PM

Hmmmm.. totalled? i dont think so. looks like most of the impact was inbetween the A & C pillars. Figure a couple of hours on the frame machine, airbags, new doors, molding and skirts and paint. $18k is probably pretty close.. maybe a little less... doubtful to be totalled, and car will probably run good as new

its hard to tell from the pics, but how is the front fender? if thats damaged you may be escalating towards $20k

If fixed, car will be fine....however, the alignment may never be the same again if the wheels got nipped

datnikkavinc Jan 28, 2008 07:37 PM

i picked up the gf to go to school on tuesday. and no it wasnt a four way stop. i was actually at the stop sign for a while and checked before getting on to the street. i was trying to cross to make a left turn onto the main street when i got hit. the girl got onto the main street a little before i did so technically, she was already on the main road and had right of way. when the cop got there, it seemed like he knew her family cuz they were bein all friendly with each other and he was bein an ass towards me :tantrum: . pretty bull shit imo but w'e. the gf and i are ok. just kinda sore. the insurance company says the car is totalled :rip: . i think it was both doors on the driver side, side skirt, interior stuff on the doors, both driver side curtain air bags, and prolly frame damage. imma try to rip out my k40 tomorrow and whatever else they'll let me take from the car before they take it away

datnikkavinc Jan 28, 2008 07:46 PM

i doubt im getting the car fixed tho cuz insurance rates are crazy. they're already charging around 4k for 6 months of coverage and threatening to double/triple the rates after this accident. mom said she wants to find me a car that's around 4-5 years old to drive for a while til our rates go down :(

mrpickem Jan 28, 2008 08:05 PM

Bummer dude. Glad you're ok at least.

Kinda surprised they totaled it...what year, 06?

Hatin it with them insurance rates :ugh: , thankfully you got mom to pay it.

bigBLACKTL Jan 28, 2008 08:49 PM

daymm that sucks dude, but atleast your alright and thats the most important thing

DarkSithCL Jan 28, 2008 08:52 PM

1st... Im so really glad you guys are OK... sore you can fix... other things don't work out so well... anyhoo, 2nd... ur rates in Texas are so high anyway... they just want an excuse to jack you!!! I think it takes about 3 years for an at fault accident to fall off your driving record... anyone know otherwise? Plz correct me if I am wrong... Thx

DarkSithCL Jan 28, 2008 08:57 PM

...most insurance companies will total a car if the damage is equal to or exceeds about 70% of the BB value... my wife's truck just got totaled in a similar accident... but the guy hit her and then lied to the police... :tomato: suffice it to say we are looking for a new truck and we have a lawyer... :whyme:

azn_xxxd Jan 29, 2008 11:43 AM

I'm guessing his rates are already high because in has been in previous accidents. Add now add this one to the tally.

I'm not an advocate for insurance companies but I understand they need to turn a profit and high risk drivers usually pay out the nose or lose insurance because they lose the company money.

S PAW 1 Jan 29, 2008 01:08 PM

Another example of just how safe our Acuras are.
Glad you're OK.

korrupted Jan 29, 2008 02:39 PM

yup, still amazed that not of the windows are broken.

I think mostly because he's only 18. First time drivers get the worst rates ever and that fact that it was almost a brand new TL-S.

datnikkavinc Feb 4, 2008 05:43 PM

lol it was a brand new tl-s when i bought it. but yea..like you guy ssaid, i got a quote from the dealership to fix it and they said after taking it apart and everything, it'll end up costing around 20k. two dealerships won't fix it and an outside shop won't even fix it cuz they said it'll be too much trouble. mom said the same so yea..i dont think im getting it fixed. been car huntin for a couple days but still dunno what to get. i've had pretty bad luck with acuras so i doubt i'll be getting another one even though i loved the tl.

mmade22 Feb 4, 2008 07:25 PM

So what junk yard is it going to? I am looking to buy a type-S exhaust setup.

stillhere153 Feb 5, 2008 07:04 AM

I'd get a m35x big dogg

darksom1 Feb 5, 2008 08:39 AM

Damn man, Moms paid $4K for 6 mos PRIOR to this??? Oh shit, you might have to get a Civic! Moms must be paid in full for you to be out there shopping high dollar value again! But hey, if you got it like that playboy...roll with it!

datnikkavinc Feb 27, 2008 11:28 AM

i drive an 01 avalon xls now =[

godizus Feb 27, 2008 12:56 PM

interesting choice

psheu Feb 27, 2008 01:55 PM

here in South Florida they might be able to fix that thing up for ~$8k including parts and labor... and more on the labor portion

You could pick up a 2nd Gen TL, those are nice too.

Also what I would do is see if anyone would want to buy things from your car that are valuable, like the Type-S wheels, that's probably worth $600.

I would've gotten a Celica or a Civic instead, because at least those rides can be modified.

handy911 Feb 28, 2008 01:13 AM

wao...you can probably tell your "side" of the story....if the police wasnt there when it happened, how did he know that the other car had the right of way???

Don't assume it's your fault, dude!....She got you on the side...many insurance companies will believe it wasnt your fault.

yeah, but he's the guy that was taking the left turn, now if he was the one driving on the main road and then got nailed on the side..theres a good chance that it wasnt his fault. Since he's the one that was actually going across traffic, chances are they will blame him. In any case, he nor his gf were injured and he's moved on..

btw OP..ure a traitor going to Toyota..should have at least stayed with Honda :tomato:

vinnier6 Feb 28, 2008 10:20 AM

how could it not be his fault...he had a stop sign, and the car that t boned him did not have a stop sign...its a no brainer...his fault...

vinnier6 Feb 28, 2008 10:21 AM

where at in texas is that car going to end up...i would like to get some parts from it....

datnikkavinc Jun 28, 2008 09:47 AM

my bad. i forgot to check up on this thread but yea..i have no idea where they took that car. i didnt really have much of a choice with that avalon. it was my aunt's car and mom said my aunt needed the money so she bought it but now i'm back to acura. mom's bf bought me an 08 tl-s for my birthday back in may. hopefully i'll get some pictures up in a new thread sometime this week =P

wtf?? you're paying 4k/6mo on coverage?? Geezus, why is it so much? Did you get like 5 tickets your 1st day driving?

Anyways, glad to see you back in an Acura. Does your mom's bf want to adopt a kid? My birthday is not for another 6 months :tomato:
