Thumbs up Center grille mod

Hey guys just painted my center grille thought I'd show you guys and get your opinion because I'm about to sell this 06 base bumper within a month and do the same to my type s bumper. I think it looks great!

First I took off the bumper:

and disassembled the center grill.
Then I painted the trimmings and emblem sanding all of them before hand:

the bar holding the emblem I painted flat black and the rest of the trimmings including the emblem I painted flat gold:

This is the final product:

If I don't go snowboarding this weekend I'm planning on debadging the rear and painting the rear emblem and trimming flat gold =]. I think it looks great I'm digging it.

Thanks man, the only thing is I'm trying to go with a gold theme there for gold emblem and trimmings I was iffy about gold too but I like it lol.

I don't have much else on the car so I don't see the point with more angles lol. maybe when i put on my tien ss's and lower it.

Because it shows off what you have done on a larger scale....
we cant really tell what your grill looks like on your car when its only focused on your grill.

take some pics farther back.

meh...

it's a clean job but you need to have some sort of gold theme going on if you want it to work. wheels, rear emblems, and def lower it.

I agree. Excellent execution, you obviously took your time and did things right. I'm just not feeling the gold on black, feels kind of "gaudy" to me.

Yeah, I never liked the gold emblems even on cars that came with them from the factory. But it is your car and if you ultimately decide that you like it, then who gives a shit what the rest of us think!

You did an excellent job but I'm not feeling it. Like others have said, once you get more gold accents on your car it will all tie in, but as of right now it doesn't look right.

You did a great job i just wish you would have done it all blacked out with so clear. The whole gold think just looks over board and in your face. But if you like it keep it!

We don't call this a 'fail' in the modding world, we call this a 'learning experience'

Not a fan of the gold either.

Did you put a bunch of coats of clear on top? If not, it's going to start chipping in a few weeks.

It's not clear coated i tried clear coating flat gold before and it's hideous, and I'm sure it won't chip I did the same thing to my engine cover and it's holding up fine.

I thought about a gun metal color but i tried to blend it in with my car color with a little contrast hence the flat black, but i thought about it.

KN, well executed indeed. And if you like it, it doesn't matter what any of us say!

The gold wheels will definitely compliment the grill.

When the gold accents were highly popular, people would also gold plate the badges on the trunk too.

Lmao yeah I figured that so I put on a lot of layers just so that if something did do damage that hopefully it'll just dent and not chip paint off the only thing i'm worried about is i didn't get to bake or cure the paint with heat but I feel like i should be fine it's been in the sun and hot these past couple days
