My father, son and I did some shooting this past Saturday. I know, I know, it's not cars, but guns and cars are about as American as one can get. My father was a career officer in the military and I was a police officer in Michigan and Alaska in a prior life. Here are a few pics we took:

Me and my boy

Here is the Browning 300

Here is the Browning 270

Pop and I sighting in the 300

The AR-15

AR-15, 270, and 300...you can see the difference

Sometimes you just have to keep the car garaged and get out and enjoy nature.

This coming weekend is the "Wake the Dead" car show in Searcy...so I will post some more pics of cars.

We attended the "Wake the Dead" Car Show this past weekend and had a good time. It was the fourth year for the show, and our first time attending. They still have some areas of improvement, i.e., they didn't park vehicles in classes but rather lumped them together. Nonetheless, we had a good time. I finally took the time to steam the engine.

My iPhone 5 finally arrived in the mail last week, so I was playing with the new pana option.

Just a few of the car the evening before the show.

ActRightSB (Sean) and his son, Will, the two of us.

This was an old 80s Chevy Astro Van...10,000 watts.

This was the inside of a Chrysler 300...not my thing, but to each his own. I believe he has 22 tvs in the car (2 are in the trunk). There are tvs on the floorboards (covered in plexi). Supposedly he has over $30,000 in the interior. Waste of $, in my opinion.

Tyler, buddy! Yeah, the truck was beautiful. The only thing (in my opinion) it needed was a chopped top...perhaps 8-12 inches. What's next? Still wanting to do a CAI. I may also go the route of the jpipe...still debating and researching.

With a military father and me as a former cop, we love our guns! LOL. The Browning 300 is what we took the bear with when we lived in Alaska. I fired it 5 times that day and it left some swelling and bruising. She is a beast.

I am fortunate that my son loves cars/guns as much as me, his old man.

I haven't posted anything in a while, so I thought I'd at least get a few pics up. A fellow AZiner, ActRightSB, and I took a nice cruise up Arkansas' Scenic Highway 7 this past Saturday. Here are a few pics.

(didn't realize I snapped this)

I'm jumping ship over here to the 3G section for a little bit. Lol I was trying to see if I could find the guy with the JDM VIP styled SSM TL from the MSA car show. Just got through looking at Phil's thread.

I like this pic because it captures "The Rock."

Mem04TL and I took a ride over to the infamous Tail of the Dragon last weekend. We met up in Memphis at the crack of dawn.

Mem04TL just got new kicks. They look great.

The $6,000 hit

What better time for a quick update.

On October 17, I had some extended studs installed in the front for some new spacers. I also had new tires put on. During my drive home, I was rear ended on 167 North (highway) by a moron texting on his cell. Here are a few iP5 shots:

The day of the accident, my new spacers arrived:

It's amazing how expensive a hit can be. Beyond a sore neck for four days, I was fine. 'Family was not in the car with me at the time. I'm grateful for USAA insurance. The tow was fully covered, my rental is fully covered, no deductible, and all parts are covered. While it's an '05, I went ahead and purchased an 07 Type-S bumper, Type-S rear underspoiler, and 07 Type-S Tails. Insurance is covering all costs, including aftermarket exhaust parts. I guess I can't complain too much. A few parts arrived today:

In the process of the hit, two of my new tires went flat (guessing the hit broke the beads). Additionally, my strut is shot. They said everything else, including camber kit, is fine, but will let me know if they find more damage.

Hopefully I'll have the car back soon. Looking forward to installing the spacers, painting the calipers G2 yellow, and giving the rims a shot of gunmetal gray plasti dip.

Bottom line, it's just a car.

Cd

for keeping a good attitude. And you're replacing with newer parts, so it's not really that bad. And insurance seems to be taking care of you 100%.

Thanks, Steven. USAA takes care of its people. I just got a call about 40 minutes ago that the quote is now $7,036.93. Insurance already approved the increase.

Totaled

Well, I found out yesterday that the car has been declared a total loss. The most recent repair quote hit $8,000, which doesn't include any potential underbody/suspension damage (beyond the obvious strut damage where I was hit). Thanks to the adjuster, who stated in the report that my car was pristine, USAA's Actual Cash Value (ACV) offer was very nice. We were replacing my wife's van in the spring. Looks like we are shopping for two vehicles now. As we are building out in the country on 10 acres, we are going a different route.

It was real...and it was just a car.

WHAT?!? Holy moly. Chris, I'm so sorry man.

I'm glad you're being positive about this whole experience though. Are there any cars you've started to consider?

That's crazy it's being declared totaled! It doesn't "look" like much damage. Good luck on the new car search.

I actually just bought my wife a new car Saturday. We almost got an Acura MDX, but she thought it was too bulky. I got her a Toyota Highlander Limited. Given the fact that we are building in the country, it will work well.

Appreciate it. Acura has redesigned the quarter panels (they are no longer once solid piece). The multiple pieces is what brought the total over the limit. When I went to clean the car out last Thursday, the entire back end was taken apart. The damage was extensive, it just wasn't visible. It goes to show that a relatively minor accident can be extensive.

She absolutely loves it. I asked her again last night if she is enjoying it and she just gave me a big smile. After 17 years of marriage, that said it all.
