Hey guys long time no updates, sorry work has been super busy, 3 kids, buying new house selling old one....you get the picture. I was bored yesterday and wanted to spice up life in the engine bay so I painted it copper orange. Used VHT high heat paint, I'm going to clear coat it this weekend. I also tried the duplicolor (I think) spray on tint for the headlights, F'ING HATE IT!! I'll be wet sanding that garbage off this weekend.
Damn...you just took me back about 5 years.
Once you wetsand the headlights, plan to get them professionally cleared as you'l have removed all the uv coating.
Hahaha no poser at all, I had the same color in my element SC and I just fell in love with it. The blacked out headlights look to kidish to me and I think it takes away from the overall sexiness of the 3G. I guess it gives me something to do. I've been scouring the junkyards for an extra set of headlights so I can send to Bruce but finding a pair here in Utah is proving hard.
Wow what a deal for that place. We're house/condo searching and the places in San Diego are about 500k for 1600 sq ft. So ridiculous. I have no desire to own because it's so ridiculous but gotta become an adult someday haha.
So I was up late scouring KSL (Utahs Craigslist) like I always do for parts, wheels, and tires. Well I found these for Niche Targa's for
200 and got the guy down to 175. The only downfalls are there is slight curb rash and one of the wheels is a 19X9.5 while the others are 19X8.5, he told me that up front. I said screw I can buy 1 wheel in a few months. I had settled on 18x9's w/ +38-35 offset. I just thought the deal was to good to pass up. I want to eventually get them powder coated bronze as I think that looks real nice on the CGP color, if not I'll go gloss black. With that being said anybody need one Niche Targa in 19X9.5?? haha
I took a few pics of the interior LED upgrade. This is always one of the best miss you can do to any car. I have 6K in rear and it really lights up the car. I've been stocking up on parts so I have projects once we mi e into the new house. SPC camber kit is next up, the whole camber kit thread wore me out but I finally decide to get the SPC or Truhart rear camber kit. That thread got ugly for a bit
Got rid of the black tint, looks so much better. The headlights really are a huge part of the sexiness of the front on the TL
haha - you copied me lol - i was a fan of that copper color from VHT alsoI left the side pieces black and just the radiator cover, engine cover and strut bar, however I am thinking to strip the paint and possibly hydro-dip the covers instead.
is hydro dipping stronger and more durable? I know I had to repaint my Element like once a year. AS you can see from my instagram pic I loved that color a lot!! Calipers, interior pieces, very rare Samco radiator hoses, headlight housings, and engine bay all done in the Burnt Copper/Orange. I'm a Bengals fan so naturally my favorite colors are orange & black
Oh how I miss this ride
Not entirely sure of the longevity/durability of the hydro-dip, but I know if they can handle the high heat of coating intake manifolds, valve covers etc. then they should handle the plastic covers well. i'll keep you posted when I close in on getting some pieces done.

my hydrodipped engine bay covers have been great for about 3 years!! just make sure you put high temp clear coat on top of them. some marines did this for me out of their garage so i got a great deal on it. let me know if you have any questions!

Sweet - I was looking to go with a CF look on the hydro - so appreciate the info brother!
Haha Lofu that's too funny. So that was originally a baby blue corvette but my son wanted an Audi like pops. So I debadged it and painted it green Becuz that's his fav color. Well he got bored one day and decided to try his painting skills out on it one day. He got ahold of some plasti dip and had at it. He lives that thing, beats to hell too. When I'm not trying to snap pics of the TL I snap them of other things....say like guns!!
So I decided to not mount the Niche's until the spring. Instead of plasti dipping them I'm going to send them out to get fixed and powder coated. I wanna do this build right and not rush anything. So now I'll have a winter set up and a spring/summer set up. Collecting little parts here and there. I picked up a set of TPMS sensors and some smoked Depo lights for the rears. I already have the tires, hub centric rings, and now the tpms for the Niche's. My question for all you old heads is what color really goes well with the CGP?? I wanted to originally powder coat them orange, but after having dipped them orange I'm not so sure. I've seen red on the CGP which I thought looked good but give me some of yer options so I can ponder over the next few months. Thanks guys
So quick question for the guys who know everything about the TL....TL-S fog light covers will not fit TL base fog covers correct??
are you referring to the black plastic covers - the sit in the bumper? I think they are different, the TL-S covers angle down in the corners, whereas on the base TL they angle up - so essentially the base is smiling, and the TL-S is angry lol...but i'm not sure if they are interchangeable or not.

My Apologies in advance for the load of pics...lol - sometimes just saying a color doesn't do it justice lol
as for wheels color on a CGP - here are a few - the first three are from @datderetl - he doesn't have the 3g anymore, sold it and has a 4g now

second photo - wheels powdercoated to hyper silver - close color match to the enkei type-s waffle color Tail Happy. by Andrew Thompson, on Flickr
Wow that silver looks really good!! Thanks and you are correct they don't fit. I bought a set for 20 bucks but they different in that corner. Oh well 20 wasted....to the black market
Wow that was easy, took me ten minutes of total work time. Which is good becuz it's literally 99 degrees outside!! To be honest I'm not 100% sold on these, I feel as if now I have to do something to the tails. The red side marker blended nicely with the red tails, I'll leave em on for a bit and see if they grow one a little. Here's a few pics i took in the drive way
This is a good angle to shoot the TL photogenically
Nice work man, I prefer the look of the clear/smoked sidemarkers all around, even with the red of the tails...you could take those red sidemarkers and fab em up to place in the rear bumper opening thingy lol...
I'm just going to let them resonate on me for a bit. I've been itching to pull the trigger on an Aspec badly!! We're making a nice chunk of change off the sell of our house and if I can convince the wife to let me buy one I'll be one extremely happy camper
I took off the window visors today, they just didn't sit well with me. They weren't the OEM ones and I never got attached to them, seems more sleek without them on.
Stocking up on parts!! Picked these goodies up within the last few weeks. My Niche Targa wheel should be here tomorrow, going to do a test fit to see how it looks and if I need to make any adjustments over the winter.
Yea I read the entire thread about SPC vs Ingalls and after I was mentally wore out haha, in the end the general consensus was SPC was the way to go. Mty tires are being destroyed so the camber kit is much needed. Will I need another set for the front is the big question? Got it, castle nut will not be handed over to my daughter when she's begging to help Daddy
why can't you use the castle nut that comes with the kit? now you got me scared
you won't be able to physically install it with a cotter pin (cotter pin is an anti-rotation device). the oem castle nut is much shorter which allows you use the cotter pin correctly. if you use the spc castle nut you won't be able to get the cotter pin back on which means that the nut could spin loose and fall off
jeez man I dont remember this during my suspension install as everything went very smooth except for my toe arms.... But I'm certain my guy got the cotter pin in, he wouldnt have even proceeded if that was the case.

i would just look under the car to check haha. that's why i always do my own work, no matter how good a shop is i'm always second guessing stuff (but i know not everyone can do their own work due to various reasons)
