Breezy's TL-S Progress Thread

We will see how that goes but ass of now, it is on hold. The girlfriend and I got engaged over the 4th of July vacation and have a wedding next year to pay for. Fun money is all tied up in a venue and catering at the moment. I am starting up my second job here in a few weeks so that will be some added income I have been missing out on for the last 5-6 months.

Well after about a month and a half of not driving the car due to being on vacation, weather or out right hated driving it with such shitting throttle control I have it fixed and running well again. Last Friday I took it to my golf league since the weather was great. On my way home, after shooting the shittiest round of my life, I was stranded on the side of the road in some vacant building parking lot. Car went into limp mode and lit up like a Christmas tree with the VSA, CEL and one other dash light that I can't remember. Nav screen read P2138, APP sensor failure or something in that nature. I rolled into the parking lot thinking of who can I call for a tow. Turned the car off, let it sit for a minute, and then thought I'd start it back up and try to move. Thankfully the VSA and traction control light were off and I had full power. I noticed the symptoms at light to medium pedal so I figured if I could get up to traffic speeds and set the cruise control I would be fine. Over the years of reading people having issues with the APP sensor, I had read that the Cruise Control buttons override the APP sensor. With that knowledge I floored it to get up to speed everywhere, people probably thought I was trying to race everyone, but it worked! I was able to make it down the road to the freeway and make it up to 70 and set cruise. I was able to use the Cruise Control the whole way home, it sucked but it saved me a tow expense. I knew the sensor was going but didn't think it was a going to go that night. Thankfully the week before I came across a posting in the Marketplace here for a new APP sensor and was able to get that for a great price. @77donovan77 was the seller and really appreciate the communication I received from him. If you ever have to deal with him, do not hesitate to send this guy money. So with the sensor in route I had parked the car, yet again, and waited for it to show up. Once received I was able to install it and take it for a test drive. Instantly I noticed the difference and the car is enjoyable to drive again. Hopefully soon I can get out and snap some new pictures of it. Don't have anything new as of late.

Started back up at the Alley part time again, 2 nights a week. Started working on my caliper project. I had removed this new caliper due to surface rust and it not looking good. I am going to go with Burnt Copper and will let the pictures do the talking. I have to pull the other side and get it cleaned up and sprayed. This one was a spare and a test to see what works best as far as prep and the # of coats. It is about 2 coats of high temp primer, 3-4 coats of Copper and 4 coats of high temp clear. Used VHT products and am pleased with how this turned out. Can't wait to do the Brembos! I will be replacing all the bleeders once done.
A co-workers father has a sand blast cabinet and blasted this Brembo for me. I am not sure if I will have him do both of mine on the car. We will see how this one turns out. This will be a going on the shelf once completed since it is a spare, or I may sell it off. Either way once I pull the calipers to paint them I will drill out the threads and put in time-serts to prevent corrosion from happening.
As you can see I installed Time-Serts in this one. Very easy to do!
Need to pick up more VHT Burnt Copper to get this sprayed. I have about 1/3 of a can left but don't want to have to stop half way thru.

Bro...
since you got your hands dirty with restoring the bike etc...
do you find yourself watching youtubes on restoration of shit? Like tools and whatnot?
I'm doing the oil pan gasket and rear main seal on the Jeep and instead of buying new
hardware I spent an hour with a glove and a wire wheel cleaning up the bolts to reuse them
you'll almost never see them but I LOVE restoring shit lately.

I try to clean up everything and reuse if it is not beat up. This bleeder is beat up and has marks on it otherwise I would wire wheel it and call it good. I just picked up a home use 6" pedestal wire wheel/grinder to clean up bolts or what ever that needs it.

Burning Brakes
I'll be doing my Brembos in that color when the car is in storage. If they strip out do you want to repair them for me? haha But that color looks great I cant wait to do mine

Thanks man I appreciate it. Hopefully I still have a couple of months of driving left. Got a few winter projects I’m excited about. That’s kinda sad to say

Got a little more progress done on the Caliper Project. Fronts are still on the car and will have be done next week. Rears will be done this week and will be able to get them buttoned up hopefully. Here is the other side in primer, getting color/clear tonight.
Here is a my high tech paint booth!!!
Scuffed them up before adding color.
So wet!
Drying and will get clear tonight. Ordered stickers that will go over the clear coat and then get another coat of clear once applied.
I am going to try and fab up a bracket to attach these to the caliper. I do want them to come off at pad changes but don't want to RTV them on. Any suggestions welcome!

I thought about it since I plan on getting them sand blasted then paint over the top of that. Replace seals/boots after everything is cured. They are $20/side on RockAuto if I remember correctly. Use an air compressor and shoot into the bleeders to pop out the cylinders.

Well the rear covers are done. But I either didn't wait long enough between coats or applied too much and it started to run so it isn't as smooth as I'd like it. can't really tell though. Also, one of them fell off the cups I used to prop it up. I tried to save it and got finger prints on it, so I tried smoothing it out but didn't go so well. Oh well it will have to stay as is. I think it looks good considering what happened. I was so pissed when it fell off. Only thing now that they are done, I am not sure I will use them. Can't come up with a good way to attach them other than RTV. We will see what they look like when I get the calipers back on the car.

Was able to finish the rear calipers and going to install them tonight. I am not sure if I want to respray the first one I did because it is more of an orange than the second burnt copper look. I know you won't really be able to tell, especially if I use the covers, but it bugs me they are different side by side. The first can I used must not have had that same amount of metallic flake and a lighter tint. What would you guys do? Respray the first one or just leave it since they are on opposite sides of the car?

Was able to swap the calipers this weekend. I have another driver side rear that I am going to paint to try and match the second one I did. It is bugging me but for the time being I can still drive it for a little bit longer before it goes to storage. I did pull up another project in the works to see what they look like, and this winter they will get powdercoated. Looking into going slotted rotors as well. Will probably wait til spring to put them on. Front calipers are going to have to wait as well. I just don't have time before Nov. 1 to get them done the way I want to get them done.
Seeing the car with the light on the paint makes me want a full paint correction and ceramic coating...
Don't worry those white marks aren't rock chips!
18x8.5 aspecs in primer. I may try to rattle can one and clear it to see how it would turn out but will most likely get them powdercoated if it turns out shitty. I want to go with Kingsport Grey from Prismatic Powders.
20mm spacer on the rear should give me a flush set up with these!
She was dirty so I used the rain as my spot free rinse!!!
Squeeky clean!
27 days until storage....
