Bimmitup's '08 CBP Thread

After being here for a few months, I figured I'd post some pictures of my car.

I don't know if I'd call this much of a build, but I'm adding my personal touches here and there. Just slowly, as I'm pretty broke right now.

Future plans

TL Type S Bumper /w quads (sometime this week)
Yellow fogs (this week)
Lowering springs (in a month or so)
Black roof vinyl (in a month or so)
Fix the two large f**cking dents that people decided to leave
Front & Rear sways (end of the year)
A-Spec front lip (probably early next year)
XXR 530 wheels (it's gonna be a bit)
AWD Conversion (when I hit the powerball)
S85 swap (also when I hit the powerball)

Current Mods

Basic Maintenance (Fluids, 105k service, brakes)
35% tint all around (excluding windshield)
K&N Drop in
Burnt Copper Calipers
Stage 3 exhaust

First photoshoot. I probably picked the wrong lens for the day but I still got some decent shots.

The TL with a Miata.

Alley shot. She's pretty dirty as it's rained the past four nights in a row.

Random Pic

Burnt Copper caliper covers. Got the suggestion from a few AZ members. Courtesy to BreezyTL & beastino for selling them.

So after nearly two months of waiting, I got the Type-S bumper on with the quad tips. I originally ordered polished tips from eBay, but they decided that they'd take it upon themselves to send me burnt tips. They'll probably have to stay on (already paid the $53 to weld them on).

With the help of some buddies, I cut out the center piece of the bumper (where the garnish should be) and plan to get some black painted chicken mesh / wire to put in there. I'll also come up with my own exhaust garnish (unless I get them for a steal)

Decided to take a picture while the bumper was off.

With bumper on.

I've been thinking about doing tire lettering on the car. I've yet to see another TL with them on so I'm a little hesitate at the moment. Thoughts?

Wow exhaust looks good! One thing I will suggest though is you should get the smoked depo side markers. It will look much better than black plasti dipped base side markers. I know this because I used to have my side markers dipped too before I realized the depos can be had for like $50. Nice progress so far!

I'll eventually get them. I think I'm going to remove the dip for now, it just looks tacky.

Before the wash. Trying to get some better shots with the 50mm. This photo could use less editing.

Posted up with the v6 stang after a wash. Raced that mustang a while back (on a private road), and it did have some power, more than I expected at least. It took me from a launch by a car length or two and eventually I flew past it.

Trying a different style of editing. I really need to finish making that mesh piece for the bumper. Just. So. Lazy.... Exhaust trim may eventually come. Probably not unless someone wants to donate them

Thanks. Sometimes I would rather the type-s spoiler but it's good enough.

So the mustang above is now out of commission. For how long? Who knows. Guess the stereotype is real.

Sadly not.

So I guess this is more of a photo thread at this point.

My boy Christopher Sullivan has influenced me on this.

WEIGHT SAVED
ENGINE PLASTICS - 3lbs
INTAKE RESONATOR DELETE - 1lb
DRIVER WEIGHT LOSS - 4lbs
AIR TREE FRESHENER DELETE - 1lbs
RANDOM SHIT IN MY TRUNK - 5lbs

TOTAL WEIGHT = A SHIT TON

I got window visors. They look like shit compared to OEM but they're a good addition. I hate this picture because it makes the monster truck height look even worst. But it's being fixed soon! Oh and the headlights are gonna be cleaned.

SOME OLD NIGHT SHOTS. Now that I'm looking at this picture, I again want to say fuck you to the guy/gal who hit me and ran.

The front looks very boring so I got a custom splitter in the works.

Another crowd killer in the back.

Was very tempted to sell the TL for this but just couldn't do it. I drove this 328i with xDrive for a month. With only 50k miles, it's a lovely vehicle but it's totally different from the TL. I find myself enjoying the Acura much more.

Just an old pic.

Dropping in another old picture from some late night meet in Michigan. Shoutout to the guy in the blue TL who gave me some pointers on taking pictures. There were two more 2nd gen TLs. I want to say it was UA5 don and some other guy.

I will hopefully have some new wheels in the next month or two.

I'm looking at Avid AV-20s and some XXR 530s. Hopefully I can snag the avids for cheap, otherwise it's going to be the XXRs. I'll either keep the type-s wheels as a winter set or sell them off for a mere $250.

Nah I'm not really about that weight reduction life. I rather enjoy my car. I honestly feel that the day I take it out is the day I get a flat.

And do you guys think that dent could be pulled? Or do I really need to spend that grand to get it fixed. It's bothering me more and more now.

Shitty iPhone pictures below. Too cold to bust out the DSLR.

So I have a new job to support me a bit. Was hard doing anything to the car because I was on a tight budget. Since the last post, I've done nothing to the car (had an issue with the starter but resolved it).

But maintenance is coming up.

Another 1x3
Mobile 1 Synthetic Oil change w/ Mobile 1 Filter
Spark Plugs

Mods coming up.

The wheels pictured below
Some sort of coilovers. I don't know what I want to go with yet.
Figured I'd snap a pic before going to work.

She was sitting for a few days. Shit tires + snow = BAD TIME

Cleaned off.

My buddy's 9th gen honda accord. Reference for next pic.

New wheels! These are from that accord pictured above.

18x9.5 +38 - 245/45/18

BF Goodrich g-Force COMP 2 A/S

New shirts yo.

New wheels put on. They look good but will look ten times better when dropped. I'll try to get my camera out for some pictures tomorrow.

The grip these tires have are SO much better than my old ones. However, I do rub with the back wheels on big bumps or heavy turns and that bothers me a lot. May put on my other set until I roll the fenders and/or get a stiffer suspension.

I'm sure the wheels look good, but this picture is symbolic of why I'm not a fan of black wheels. You can't see anything-no contrast. All I see is black where the wheels are.

i'm on 18x10 +25 - and lowered and don't hit/rub on the rears - so if anything your tire size may be to blame - next set i would run a 40 or 35 series the smaller sidewall will help eliminate the rubbing.

Yeah that's a good point. I did put a filter over it since I shot it with my iPhone so that could be to blame too.

I know for sure it's the tire size. I'm going to get some coilovers soon and lower it an inch. If it still rubs after that + with the fenders rolled, I'll just get a smaller series tire.

Yeah some kid on campus hit me while I was in class. Came out and there was no note. I had planned to get it fixed but slowly got used to it and said fuck it. I may look into getting it pulled (if possible), if not, I'll get it fixed over summer.
