Smile Back in another TL!

Hello guys,

A little over a month ago, I posted a thread on here about my TL Type S that got totaled during a road trip to Tampa, FL. I also posted the thread asking for experiences from people who've upgraded from a Type S to a Lexus IS 350 F-Sport. Well I decided against the IS after quite a few TLs showed up locally for me to consider.

I spent the entire month of December checking out any new TLs that went up for sale. Some of them I passed on, some of them fell through at the bank, and finally I found one at CarMax - I had it transferred down here to Miami from the very city that took my car away from me.

The one I found sits at 100,700 miles at the time of sale, with no accidents, and only one owner before me, who took the time to fill in that maintenance journal that comes with the car when it's new. It sold for $16,998. My payments are $120 less than before, due to a much lower interest rate and more time to pay it off, so I'm definitely happy about that. I never thought I'd like the ASM color, but seeing it in person definitely changed my mind.

Also, some of you might remember me asking how to remove the rubber moulding - it was because I was considering this car. But I think I might leave it...it doesn't look that bad to me.

The paint of the front bumber is almost too perfect!

Congrats on the purchase! Not a fan of the moulding either, to be honest.

ASM is the easiest color to maintain, scuffs and marks don't show as much as the other colors.

6-speed? Either way, glad you found a TL!

Hope Tampa drivers didn't deter you from future visits!

Your review was definitely helpful, thanks. I was very close to getting the IS though, but I decided to hold out longer to see if a TL would show up. I kept an eye on CarMax listings all over the US and this one came up.

This is the 5AT. No cold air intake this time, which my last one had from the previous owner, so I never realized how much louder it made the engine sound. I miss it and don't miss it at the same time.

Gross! ASM Type S!

Haha, congrats man, you'll love it. ASM is a great long-term color since it does maintain so well. That bumper does seem too perfect though, at 59K mine isn't near that perfect. Although I do a lot of crappy highway driving now.

I say at that mileage do a nice wash/clay/polish/wax and you'll be amazed at how ASM looks in the sun. Blindingly bright when it catches a good angle of the sun.

That why I hate cai, it give you sound but you lose Lowe end torque.

Nice pickup. I think the molding adds something to the car's looks.

I did notice that I have a bit more low-end torque...didn't know that was because of the CAI.

NBP is the easiest color to do conversion if you some can't see under the hood or interior.

My interior is fully converted except for the color. But i dont like the dark colors. I like my tan. Its nicer imo. And i have no desire to change it. As for the engine.. I think the engine cover will fit. And horsepower? Some people say they cant hardly tell a difference. Haha i'd like to see both on a track. Real time. Same crank same gears .. TypeS has just a little more on top.. Which i can bolt on stuff to equal that. Maybe. Haha
