Hey so I finally decided to make a thread. I've been lurking around for a while probably even before I had this account. Quick story, ever since the TL came out I've always enjoyed the body style of the car. Dont know what it was but something was just pulling me to it. At the time I was still in High school and could not afford a TL let alone a Type S. So I figured it would be something I would get later on.
So fast-forward 8 years and I now have a KBP Type-S . I actually came close to not getting one since I couldn't find a decent Type S anywhere. Almost pulled the trigger on a G37 and a E46 sedan but I just couldn't give up yet. The TL currently is salvaged from hail damage and needs work done to it so I figured I would document it. Here are some pictures from the auction that shows the damage from the hail.
And from when I was able to finally get my hands on it to see the extent of the damage. Both windshields needed to be replaced along with the side mirrors. This on top of the other body work that it would need(replacing hood, fenders, paint most of the car over).
I was able to clear most of the glass on the interior but I still find some piece here and there. I also got the replacements for the windshield.
Right now its in the shop getting stuff done and I can't wait to get it back to start working on it.
Well its been a couple months since I've updated this thread. I actually finally started driving the TL after going back and forth between the body shop and being taken in for Inspections. Its been 2 weeks but I love the car. Its obviously a step up from what I had before but it just seems much more fun.
Here are some pictures of how the car is now after the fresh paint job:
Love fresh paint.
Here is probably the best picture featuring my Max in the background
I also took a trip to a local Acura dealership trying to get a price for the plastic trim thats right below the windshield. Safe to say I wont be getting it from them
I did see the NSX they had in the showroom which they say is #4 or #5....you would think they should know that information.
I'm trying to get most of the Maintenance done before I start spending on mods, which I admit is kind hard to do lol. Most of the fluids have been changed and I will probably do a 3x3 next time I change the oil. Aiming to get the 105k service done in the spring.
Why are you looking for a new plastic piece below the windshield? Cars look great after the repair!!!
That NSX looks amazing! Size of the rotors alone should stop on a dime...
Yeah they are an amazing piece of engineering. The plastic piece has a part missing, it's minor but I would want to replace it eventually. Apparently it comes in 2 pieces and it costs $346 for each side.

I have mine from my old car I parted out. Would you be interested in buying it? I can do better than $346 per side! Mine isn't cracked too. I can post some pics if you'd like.
I will look into seeing if the part number match.
Edit:
Just looked up the part #'s. To my findings they are identical part #'s between my 05 AT and the 07-08 5AT & 6MT. (Kinda figured they would be). Feel free to look them up to verify. Also, send me a PM if you want to pick the 2 pieces off of me. The dealer tried to screw you over... What's new? They can be had for roughly $481.98 + shipping for the pair via online sales. I can do better than that even!!!
Haha still 481 for a pair of what seems to be just plastic is crazy to me. I ws actually able to find the piece I need for pretty cheap but I will send you a PM about any other parts you might have.
It's called the cowl...
and bravo, great work thus far!
Lol I found that out a little bit later. Thanks!

I too used to own 5.5 gen Maxima. Great car, I miss it time to time.
It's come a long way but there's still a lot more in store for it. And the 5.5 Max's are great. Just wish they didnt burn oil soo much. Had to always carry a extra 3 quarts in the car after every oil change.
