Another newb

Yeah, I know...another damn newb.

Bought my new TL-S last week of April, 07. Got an OK deal, but knew I'd get screwed because I traded in an '06 Pontiac with under 12K miles. I realized after purchasing 4 GM cars (trying desparately to keep the US Auto workers employed) that I was never going to find an American car that could hold it's resale value and provide continued, non-problematic operation for more than the first year of ownership.

I have always loved the TL, and when the Type S hit the streets, I knew I HAD to own one. If not for the Fugly wheels, I think it's one of the prettiest vehicles on the road. And the technology is unparalled in vehicles of this price range. All in all, the ONLY car worth it's price! (Also looked at the new G35, and while it's an awesome car as well, I think the TL edged it out by a nose.)

With the exception of getting tints, I plan to keep the car stock for about a year unless I can come accross an incredible deal on some wheels and tires.

Congrats on the new Type-S and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find a lot of helpful information here...and it may cause you to re-think your "no changes for a year" policy.

If the only problem is the wheels, then you're fine as that's an easy fix. Welcome.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! Much appreciated.

"...and it may cause you to re-think your "no changes for a year" policy."

It already has! My wife is very afraid.

"all n00bs are welcome if they are 52 years old and have the word "fugly" in their vocabulary."

LOL...Guess I ain't your "normal' 52 year old...

"If the only problem is the wheels, then you're fine as that's an easy fix."

Yeah and the only problem with the fix is there are so many cool options available. And once I do the wheels, then there's the suspension drop, alignment kit, BBK's, etc. Once I start, I get addicted. And the wife is looking at me like...

"Same interior I have. I love it but its a pain to keep clean at times."

Not too bad if you keep after it. I've had light colored leather in my last 4 cars, and find if you don't let it get out of control, you can keep it looking showroom for years.

"another Chicago TL, alright......Looks very nice, love the color..."

Hey there Chicago!!! I love the color too. Was planning on buying the WDP, but saw this on the lot and realized how few MRP TL's I have seen on the road (and every time I did see one it caught my eye). MRP is not a RARE color, but far less common, and I kinda like that.

Thanks again for the comments!

Welcome CB. Nice ride and good luck on the "no changes for a year". My wife has threatened to leave if I don't stop on the car.
Gee, I'm gonna miss her...

And if you would like to sell those wheels, I would be most interested in buying them at a reasonable price I am 100% serious as well.

Aside from that, beautiful car, and no worries, the TL puts american auto workers in a good position as well. My Dodge Ram and Ford F250 both had so many mexican/other non-us parts it wasnt even funny. I have got to keep buying "imports". The innovation, and technology is excellent in comparison!

You will love the car im sure!

good luck
take care
