Merry Christmas to me! Hehe. More car parts! Did the PS O-rings and brake, PS fluid flush yesterday. Will try to do the TB/WP service next week and she should be good for another 100K, I think...

New Shoes

Picked up a set of shoes for a good deal. They aren't in the best shape but should be good till the Spring. I like the fitment a lot. +25 is the way to go for my current ride height. A couple of crappy snaps.

Looking sick!!!!

I have to ask, what condition was the car in when you got it and how much did you pay for it? First pic looks like a, soon to be, ghetto beater!

Thanks for preserving another example of a nice 3G! Really made tgis car a diamond from the rough! LOL!!!

Yea! It was in a rough shape. The clear was peeling beyond repair. Needed to respray the whole car. The original owner never seemed to took care of the paint. I paid $2450 for the car.

The car is already tinted 35% in the back windows. I live in NYC and window tints are Cop Magnets! There's even a law that recently passed that you can't pass state inspection if your windows are tinted and you don't have a doctor's note for tinted windows.

More Maintenance

Did the TB/WP today. Don't think it's ever been done since the car was new. Im glad I got it done. For nothing else, just for my peace of mind.

OEM Waterpump. Doesnt look like it's ever been changed.

Work in progress

Ended up having to do the Serpentine belt tensioner as well since it was on its way out .

More parts!

Yay! More parts! Doing an oil change and gonna try to figure out this oil leak. I thought it was from the Crank seal but it was good. Next step is to change out all the gaskets on the oil filter neck/Vtec solenoid. Hopefully it will solve the issue.

More parts.

I hope this was the culprit of the oil leak...

Oil filter housing gasket.

I'd check it out and get them replaced. Its relatively an easy task. Here's the video on Youtube with all the parts numbers necessary to do the job.

Yessir. I did. Crankshaft and cam shaft seals. Surprisingly, there were no leaks. They were all bone dry. I was actually hoping it was the cause of the leak so I could get it taken cared of.

90% of the time the leak come from oil pump assembly which locate behind the WP housing, its take additional 4-6 hours to remove and reseal it. Every J series has this issue trust me we have a good amount of members here that has it leak around 80k-90k miles.

Ahh...you mean to tell me its something other than the Crankshaft seal?? I had no idea! Oh great! Now, I will have to redo the whole thing?

Is it part #22?

Exactly which part is it required to replaced when you say "Oil pump assembly"? Because I replaced #22 in the diagram, along with #11, #13, and #26.

No, its the part #2 need to come off involve removing the oil pan. I would replace all the o-rings along with new Honda bonds, the 1st leak occur at the bolt locate across from part #27. Now you know why it cost extra 4-6 hours lol.

Ohhh...OK. Now, I finally understand after watching a Youtube Video. So the whole oil pump assembly needs to be taken off and resealed. I was looking for gaskets to replace. Its being sealed off by silicon rather than gasket? Thanks for the info.

Yes the whole assembly seal to engine block by Honda bond rather than a gasket, but once you have the oil pump assembly remove make sure you replace every single o-ring before put them back on.

Yea. That's next up on the list. Gotta do the power steering pump first. And have to see if the oil leak is coming from the oil pump assembly or just the leaky gasket from oil filter housing.

Here's the DIY Video somebody did so you get the rough idea. You just got to eye-ball it and make it as clean as you have the patience for. Goodluck!

Switch back Fogs

Put in the LED 9006 Switch-backs for DRL/FOGS. I had them wired to the independent fog light switch. So I can have them run at the same time with my fogs. I like the way they look.

Foglights with 6000K as DRL.

Foglights with 3000K as secondary fogs.

Wet

Gave the TL a bath and a quick spray on wax. Don't think I can complain the results for a $1100 paint job.

Yea. I am well aware of the Orange Peel. It really doesn't bother me as much, considering how the car looked before. I will look into getting it wetsanded and buffed once the weather is nice out. To be honest, being that I live in the city and the car will be parked on the streets on a daily basis, it will get dinged and scratched up (Can't avoid it. That's the cost for not having a garage). There really isn't any point to making the paint immaculate because I won't be able to keep it that way as it will be exposed to the elements. Not sure if most of you guys will understand since majority of the members on here have garages and driveways to keep your TLs

I get it. The best thing I had to park in was a barn last year, but those days are long gone now.

I'm not parked against a curb downtown, but both of my babies roast in the sun, what can I do.

Trust me I used to live in CT for 13 years. I been buying 3-4 cars in NYC area aka Queen, Bronx, Ozone Park, Staten Island. Area such as Mets stadium, I-678 white stone bridge, GW bridge JFK parkway used to be my back alley.

Having a car in NYC actually can be costly IF you decide to park it under ground parking garage (lol your shit still isn't safe) which cost like $700/ month. most people complaint about traffic jams just wait until you get stuck in Lincoln or Holland tunnel lmao.

The only reason my Type S was low mileage back then because the owner living in Greenwich and take the Metro into NYC.

I see. So then you should understand why its kind of pointless for me to make the TL's paint showroom finish. I regularly have to park my car curb side in Brooklyn streets every single day where people literally park an inch away from your car and give you a couple of "love taps" before going in and out of a parking spot.

I can totally understand about not making the paint flawless, Since it is a daily driver and is outside every day, there will definitely be scratches, possibly dents, and so on...After I painted my Mustang I drove myself crazy trying to keep it perfect. Best bet is to just keep up on washes n waxes like youre doing and call it a day. Wetsanding and buffing can be expensive unless you do it yourself, plus you never know how many coats of clear it really has. Looks great to me man, keep up the good work

Still waiting for the PSP to come in to change it out and do the valve cover gaskets once the weather gets a bit warmer. Did a little video shoot with a friend of mine who's a videographer. Will post up the video once he's done with the edit. Just a few cellphone pics from the spot we did the shoot...
