ABP_UA6's Progress Thread

Hello, everyone! My name is Cordell, I live in Oklahoma City. I have been lurking around site doing a bit of research for awhile so finally decided to make an intro, haha. As the username implies, I own an Abyss Blue Pearl 2005 TL. I bought it back in November last year.

My future mods includes things like an air intake, exhaust, 19 or 20 inch wheels, Function & Form HT Spec coilovers, A-spec lip kit, 07-08 front bumper with fogs, and 07-08 tails. For the time being, I am focusing on maintenance other minor details.

I also own a Sage Green Metallic 1995 Accord LX. Had it since 2004. So I have been in the game for a while. I look forward to getting to know you guys, learning more about the TL, and helping out where ever possible.

Here are a couple pics of the TL:

A couple pics of the Accord:

that's a super clean accord! props to you for doing it clean. How come you didn't use a LED bulb for your front turn signals so the signal housing won't look orange

Thanks! That is how the JDM bumper signals come. There is an amber piece inside of the housing that is around the clear bulb. I like this look vs the all clear because the tail lights are made the same way.

Welcome and congrats Cordell! Super clean Accord you have!

Just a few pointers: I wouldn't get wheels any larger than 19s. 19s and dropped is perfect on the TL. Also, while some members haven't had any problems, many have had the shocks blow on their F&F coils. Look into TEIN, Megan, and ISC coilovers to compare their spring rates, lowering capabilities, dampening adjustability, and price. Vendors such as HeelToe or Excelerate Performance have many to choose from.

Ive been lurking around this site for a while too. i used to own a 5th gen accord too and a 6th gen civic. I picked up my TL last year in may when my civic got jacked. Your cd5 looks good, cant wait to see how your TL turns out.

Thanks for the pointers! I am still soaking up knowledge about this car and the options that are available. I have had F&F Type 2's on the Accord for about 2 years with no problems and love them. I figured they would probably be the same on the TL. What are good spring rates for the TL? And what brand coilover is the most popular among TL owners? I am all about comfort.

Welcome to the family lol! Lots of useful info here for sure. I agree regarding 19's being the biggest you should go as far as good balance of looks & still maintaining some comfort (18's are good too). Tein coilovers (and springs) are really popular amongst a lot of us here as well. Great quality product. Marcus at HeelToe can definitely help you out...he, RichieV6 and Josh at Excelerate are pretty much the authority in aftermarket TL mod support, all are great to deal with. Enjoy the progress and the journey! Oh, and if you can make it out to KC in June, it's definitely a good time!

Hey there, welcome! The TL is a phenomenal car. We have all the deets on all the parts available for this car. There are not a ton of choices but it can still be tough getting the straight talk on what will be best FOR YOU. Call to talk more about you car if you need to. Marcus - 949-295-1668

Hey guys! Its been awhile since I have posted on here. I really have not done a lot to her. Just been focusing on getting her paid off. Since the last pics I posted, I have gotten OEM window visors and 07-08 tails. After waxing the TL, I snapped a few pics and figured I would share them with you all.

Mod- Could you change the thread title to " ABP_UA6 Update/Build Thread". Thanks!

Just a little update. Got the a-spec lip kit on. Would install the sides, but I have to get them color matched first. Going to install the Tein SA coils and wheels next weekend.
Here are a couple pics. Excuse the quality.

Finally got the Tein SA coils on and also gave her a good detailing. I must say that the ride is very smooth! Loving it! Wheels and a-spec side skirts should be going on sometime next week!

Hey guys. I got the wheels on today! I know that the majority of people on here do not like 20's on a 3G TL. Just wanted to try something different. I think it came out pretty well. I might go a little lower in the future.

Here is a pic:

As I was reading thru your progress, I was going to comment that your car looked really clean..i.e. until I saw your wheels. But, it's your ride and if you like it, that's all that matters.

I knew that was not going get good feedback on the wheel selection lol. I wanted to try something different from the rest. I appreciate the comment though.

I don't mind it actually. The car should be LOW tho to pull it off better. What wheels are those?
