Bat, is your application 1 piece or 2? If I'm local, how much would you put it on for? I believe I met you quite some time ago at a SD meet.

I believe bat's version is a two-piece vinyl, which is why I am still hesitating on purchasing that one, considering I will be installing myself

can you post a pic from back of car? i might have this painted at body shop. they quoted me $250. seems reasonable. anyone know if them taking roof off to paint it is any sort of compromise to the structure of car/roof? it just seems roofs should not be removed. but i want this look and not with an overlay. thanks

WHAT?! they said the roof has to come off...... LOL seriously... and your still going to take it to them....

$250 is low of a price IMO. You don't nickle and dime paint, look for a real shop and end up paying 400+ for a very good job.

Not trying to hijack thread, but...thanks I appreciate ur input. I know for sure he said remove the weatherstripping stuff on the sides and remove the sunroof. I'm not 100% sure he said remove the roof. We were standing outside without coats and it was 20 degrees. He said he would be able to do the job without messing with the interior at all. Said he is very familiar with TLs. They always have a lot of nice cars in their lot, and he rattled off the name of the paint they would use and said how its one of the best there is. And how the roof would be sanded down with 1500 grain paper or some crap first or whatever. I guess I trust him, glad u think 250 is a good price. I might do this in a month or so. Thanks

2 piece. I have installers here in San Diego and in the LA area I'm going to be offering carbon fiber versions as soon as we get one on a car

I and my cousin with an Accord would be down too. I've been searching for someone to do this in Brooklyn, but having a hard time - see my thread I just posted in NY/Nj Forum https://acurazine.com/forums/ny-nj-320/

OP - I love the way your car looks, on a scale from 1-10, how hard was the install?

I'm still skepticle about the black roof. It must be something you have to see in person to decide wether you like it or not.

I just got the vinyl black roof installed at my local shop, he told me I need to wax it once in a while to prevent it from getting messed up, does anyone know what kind of wax to use?

I soooo want to do this. I found a site with a product that supposedly lasts 10 years and has a high gloss making it look like paint called bmwshadowline. Has anyone ever heard of this? 3m is obviously well know though so that might be the way to go, great job man it looks great. good luck with the aging.

You can lightly wax and quick detail it to keep them fresh . We've had some on for cars for a good 3 years now, and they still look good as the day we installed them .

Exactly! As much as I like the look that has been shown in countless photos on here, I saw it in person recently... and I was disappointed. WTF... It was done in a high-gloss paint, too. It was perfect. Yet, I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling from it like I thought I would.

I don't discourage this mod at all... Just be sure you see it in person before you spend a cent. It made a difference to me, anyway...

Hence the reason one should try Vinyl first before making a final decision to do paint .

What thoughts do you guys have on the thickness of the material? Would it make a difference?

The other option i was thinking is this....
