19's on a 6MT W/ big brakes

Pics of my AM with the A-Spec suspension sitting on 19" OZ Galileo III's wrapped in Fuzion ZRI 245/35/19's.

I just put my new shoes on today and the snow is melting so the rims and car is dirty, I'll have to take more pics and post when conditions are better.

Very nice, I'm glad you found a wheel big enough to clear the Brembos.

All you need is the A-spec body kit to finish off the look. Very nice.

Great. The good combination between color and rims.

Thanks for the comments, I actually ran into a problem with finding wheels that I liked and that fit over the Brembos. I found myself wondering if the Brembos even help in the braking of the 6MT vs the 5AT? The ride is great with absolutely no compromise of ride quality that I can tell. The tires are also great in the fact that there isn't any additional road noise and traction behavior is the same as stock from what I can tell so far (haven't pushed it yet). Also the multi-piece OZ wheels and tires don't feel any heavier than the stock wheels and tires so the cars performance wasn't lost. All in all, the 19's look great with no compromises from the drivers seat. With the wheels now on the car, I've finished modding the car since up to now, everything that I have done was planned for it from the get go. The only plan that has possibly changed from the beginning was to add the comptech blower when released, if it doesn't void warranty.

i agree with this too, it seems in magazines that the 60-0 stops in the AT re around 120 ish compared to 6MT, 143??? this must be a type but in all magazines, this must be true

did you get an alighnment after your suspension install. In a few of the pics the camber looks a little off, which is weird cause I don't think the a-spec suspension even causes that much camber difference without an alighnment

funny you say that, because I was noticing that on my pics too. I do have an appointment for an alignment on wed but funny thing is that I can't seem to notice the camber issue looking at the car, only from looking at the pics of my car; weird but the alignment will tell all this wed.

Yes of course, the brakes are stock on the 6mt

Also, I didn't know that the specs show that the Brembos stop slower than the 5AT, if that's the case what good are the Brembos? My sales guy used this as a selling point! So not only do they perform worse, it's harder to find rims that fit and look good?! No wonder it wasn't any price increase to get a 6mt with LSD, bigger sways, and bigger brakes (that don't help).
In the best intrest of all us 6MTers, I hope your sources are wrong about the Brembos (as I'm sure you do too).

ahh i think the camber problem in a few pics was that I hadn't unloaded all my stock wheels and tires out of the back of the car yet...lol

Brembo's help with the consistency of your braking. What is most important in braking distances is not really the rotor size or calipers (although they do help), it is your tires. The stickier the tire, the better the stopping distance. Bigger brakes help reduce fade.

p.s. wheels look great.

You know, one thing about the Brembos is that there is a lot of brake dust! The front wheels are the first things to get dirty after a carwash!

I hear you on that one. This problem was actually one of the deciding factors in the rims I looked at. Were they easy to clean?! I feel my OZ's aren't going to be too hard to clean and being 19's the inside of the wheel will be easier to get to than the factory 17's.

Very nice choice in wheels. Please educate some of these younger guys putting gunmetal and 20" "dubs" on this car.

They are 19x8 et 40, however I recommend 1mm more in the offset. Mine just barely cleared the Brembos, in fact I thinned the powdercoat on my brakes in one spot to get more clearance then repainted that one spot back black (you'd never know even if you had an oem in a side by side comparison)

I just didn't want to wait 3 more months since I had already waited since before Thanksgiving for these.

OZ had a tough time getting the right offset for me, (maybe I'm the first TL with them) they only had the application for the 5AT and didn't know it, so I had to send the first set of wheels back since they didn't fit. It was worth the wait, I love these wheels. It is a great multi piece wheel and almost all of them balanced out perfectly with little to no weights.

I also have the Fuzion ZRI tires, 245/35/19, and I love them so far, great wet and dry traction, no additional or maybe less road noise then my stock HPT, and the ride comfort level is identical to the stock tires. Any one ever hear of these tires? I wonder how they are rated? Anyways one nice thing is that they also have a raised lip on the sidewall that helps to protected the rim from curb rashes.

6MT on 19's

Hey,
Just curious is the pics you have are at stock height. You mentioned you have A-Spec suspension, but other then that that's it right? Just wanted to get an idea of how high my car would be with my 19's before I put the suspension in.

Thanks
Proto

Not my favorite, Why big breaks before a kit? Wheels don't match car, to each his own.

...break? Do you mean brakes as in the Brembo brakes that come factory on the 6MT?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with gunmetal/anthracite wheels, but to each his own.

This car looks flat out amazing!

I do not agree with putting 20's on though, as this will deter performance!!
