'05 TL Base Changed to TL Type-S
So, I have been on this website for a few months and wanted to change my 2005 TL base to look like a Type-S as much as possible. So I finally did it and did all the work myself (Thanks to all the post and threads from all my fellow Acuraziners). I just had the front bumper painted at a local shop. Some would consider this work minor, but it was no walk in the park.
Changes were,
05' TL Base Front Bumber to Type-S Front Bumper
05' TL Base rims to 10 Spoke Type-S wheels
Changed floor mats to All weather mats.
Added aluminum foot pedals
Added Spoiler
Posted Pictures.

Dont see any pics.. but what about type-s rear bumper, type-s tailights, type-s headlights, type-s decklid spoiler, type-s side markers, type-s side mirrors. You're missing a lot.. lol
The money towards floormats and aluminum pedals could have went to one of the parts i mentioned above.^^

Here they are. My bad.
@ TWiSDiT, I only as much mods as I wanted to pay for at the time. To be honest, I liked the base rear end bumper. I will probably change the exhaust tips more than likely.
I forgot, I change my four side markers to the smoke lights, and changed my rear base tail lights for the Type-S tail lights.

^^^ Excellent comment!
Car still looks good though as it is, understandably, a work in progress. Just keep swimming... (sorry, with my wife 9 mos pregnant and my 4-yr old under the weather, Nemo was on the tv too much this past weekend)

Nice way to refresh the look of the car! Makes me want to get my Type-S rims onto mine now.
I can't really tell from the small picture, but is that an OEM TL-S decklid spoiler? How much did you get it for?

Nice work on the mods to your faux S-Type. Only those picky people will call you out on parts you don't actually change out. KEY! Do what you like and feels looks good!
OH yeah! Hopefully don't have a street race with someone that beats you and thinks they've beat an S Type. Depending on what they were driving you might give them some False Security! haha!

youre getting closer.....but not really a type s yet.....you need a lot. especially a few of the main things. type s rear sidemarkers, quad exhaust, and the headlights. without those it falls apart. and the fact they never made an anthracite type s.... but the car looks good. get an aspec kit on there and lower that bitch already

Pretty good work so far. The only thing that makes it weird for me to look at is that since that isnt a color that ever came on the Type S so I guess your gonna have the paint the car too lol j/k j/k.
I know there are threads all over this site about differences between the S and base model, and some people say its not much or the Type S isnt worth it, but in reality there is a LOT that makes a Type S differ from the base model, and even more so going from Type S to the earlier 04-06 cars. I mean just think about the exterior. Literally the only parts that arent different is the actual sheet metal. And that doesnt even include the different interior. I will admit its not like the Type S is a completely different beast as far as performance goes, so that would have been kind of cool if Acura made the Type S significantly faster than the base model. Either way they are all cool cars I love all TL's.

The A-Spec suspension does not offer height or stiffness adjustability. You'll need a set of coilovers if you want that option.

He's saying you should install the A-Spec lip kit, not the suspension. The front and rear lip mount to your existing bumper and the side skirts replace your stock ones.

Vendors such as HeelToe and Excelerate have many options for coilovers that provide height and dampening adjustment. Go to their websites and check them out!

EBChosen, why didnt you just buy the type S?
or the $$$ spend on bumpers/etc, you could have gotten Type S/Aftermarket Headlights/Tail lights/drop/rims/etc
I hope you are not trying to sell it as a Type S....
other than that, the car looks very CLEAN !!!....well done

I know this thread was resurrected but I just want to say first of all he is not the only one who want to make his car "Type S-ish" around here because not everyone can find a Type S locally so go easy on him. Plus, if the Type S is easy to find then the Type S wouldnt be "special". Second of all there is a lot of work, time and money to put in to make the conversion happens so give him sometime.
To the OP: good job on the conversion especially coming from an 04-06 TL.just take your time and do it right. I started out with an 07 which is very close to an Type S "appearance-wise" and it still take me a while to have it reSemble an Type S. So.. Kudos!

very nice car man! Ill be looking into the type-s bumpers w/aspec eventually. I love the Type-s but i cant justify still spending 20k+ for an auto when from reading on here that a base 6mt is quite capable against an auto type-s. The base 6mt are rare, the type-s 6mt im sure even more. But other than red-stitched black interior and red interior lighting, and the obvious engine and exterior differences, its practically the same car, respectively. But maaaan i would love me some type-s headlights!

Following the footsteps of chosen...though i opted to keep the base head lights...had them done by JNC...i'm quite satisfied.

If you can be patient...keep an eye out for parts...you can keep costs down. Mine was through insurance...labor plus OEM parts came out to 2K including headlights....which i got from JNC.
