XLR8 J-Pipe is Here!!!

We should have the XLR8 J-pipes in hand in about 2 weeks. We have 20 come in on this first batch. We have test fitted these both on a base TL and a TL-S. The XLR8 J-pipe is 100% stainless steel, utilizing T304 stainless steel. The primaries are equal length 2.25" piping which transition into a 2.5" collector with stainless steel flanges and hangers. Our test fitments have shown that the hanger is located in different locations so we have come with a bolt on style hanger to support the weight of the j-pipe. Here are the pics:

Here are the dyno #'s:

This is dyno graph a few months before showing the difference on the vehicle with the XLR8 catback exhaust for the TL-S:

This is the dyno graph showing the gains of the j-pipe. Dyno conditions were similar; in fact there was more humidity and a higher temp on this day so it might even make more power:

Peak gains were 7 whp and 16 ft lbs of tq to the wheels but this car was making tons of torque down low.

For the initial batch we are going to offer $399 shipped to the cont US. Thereafter it will be $425 shipped. We also have a 2.5" IN/OUT Random Tech High flow with metallic 300 cell substrate converter that normally sells for $300 shipped but we will do for $260 if bought with the j-pipe.

It makes more hp and tq by allowing the engine to breath alil better for the exhaust aspect of the engine. Just like an exhaust adds hp but you figure the engine makes all the power. Not necessarily, they work together. The better your engine can breath, the easier it has to work and the more productive it is.

Looks good Josh. Any issues with the rear part that attached to the third cat the flexible part look alil small?

Cool Paid!

Josh, I found it on your site. But your site charged me $400.00
And it made me pay for shipping also!

I'm sure it's just an over site. I reread your OP "For the initial batch we are going to offer $399 shipped" very clear. So I know I am in good hands. Thanks Josh!!!!

Was this the 1st order?

looks good josh.. glad everything working out

Also, when looking at the gains.. check out the dramatic increase in area temperature between run 1 and run 2.. if the conditions were the same, i would have expected over 10whp+

That increase in temp and humidity certainly had a negative effect on the numbers. I think it'd be safe to say the 7whp gain is a bit low balled, but thats a good thing. It looks like a great piece of work.

The flex section? No, no issues. This j-pipe is already on two different TL's: one base TL M/T and one TL-S. No noises, just great gains and fitment and tons of torque down low.

Yes that is the price on the site. I'll change it to accomodate the shipping costs. What I can do is either send you an XLR8 T-shirt or refund you the difference. Let me know via PM. Thanks.

^^ Hardly noticeable.

Josh (I've seen your name around the forum), this pipe looks great. Given the dyno, it seems at 3k there is an increase of 50wtq! From 175wtq to 225wtq..is that even possible? Lol.

Cool But????

Am I reading this graph right? It looks like great gains from XLR8 pipe @ low rpms. What happens at about 5k? It just stops climbing? The stock pipe still is climbing but not the XLR8 pipe? Am I reading this right?

^^ That's the torque curve you're referring to. It's peaking at around 5k with the Jpipe whereas a little higher without it. The HP curve is still climbing to almost 6500.

Are these dynos of 5AT or 6MT?

Josh,
Great looking product. Do you have a picture with the J pipe mounted on the vehicle, showing where the bolt on style hanger is to be mounted on the vehicle(base TL)?

Thanks.

Not at the moment. I didn't install either prototype j-pipe. Maybe one of the testers can give us a pic or two.

Were these graphs of 2 5AT TL-s or 6MT? The torque curve on the 2nd graph is much more meaty than the 1st.

I know the Jpipe dramatically increases low end torque, but seen as the 8th gen 6MT Accord dyno'd 239whp/224wtq stock, I'd figure the 6MT TL-s would be even a little higher stock, yet the 1st graph with an intake shows 233whp and 206ft-lbs. Just confused as to why the stock numbers look so low, if it was auto I could see why.

This dyno was a TL-S; I'm pretty certain it was Auto.

Huge improvements. I have always started with the exhaust system and intake system with all my Hondas I have even owned. Hondas have a tendency to always manfacture vehicles with severe restrictions on breathing, due to emissions, and fuel economy and sound.

With that being said my if the TL had removable headers I would have started with that. The j-pipe adds a significant amount of torque that is much needed (IMO) and level's out the powerband. I feel a noticeable difference in power and a more even power band at that. I feel pull all the way through 6th, which previously was rather dead, and built more for fuel economy as an overdrive gear. In fact i mostly drove around in 5th prior to the j-pipe since 6th was deat below 3800 RPM.

For the money and performance gain, the j-pipe for the TL is the best bang for the buck, since headers are out of the question, I would definatly recommend an intake to go along with it, because once again Honda's have breathing issues, and opening them up garnishes improved performance.

I have stock exhaust and no other mods at this time, due to the fact I want to test and break in all mods, I also want to add mods that add power not just add a buch of stuff just to say I hvae it and hope it adds power. I will post each dyno with each new mod i make to show the HP/TQ gain from each one.

Just a j-pipe with a stock exhaust gives noticable power that is felt immediately and gets better the more broken in the j-pipe gets and teh ecu adjusts.

The first few orders shipped yesterday. I will have about 15 more in hand in about 1.5 weeks. You can order this right on the webstore at the introductory price:

^^ That can be debatable. I've heard the J-pipe/UR pulley/Precat deletes/AEM V2 so far lol. That's quite the list of "best mod I've done." But everyone has a difference of opinion and their likes, etc so whatever works!

I think I may be switching to this Jpipe...tough choice between ATLP and XLR8. Almost the exact same design...both look great and should flow effortlessly.

I've heard so far that all 3 of the Jpipes (RV6, ATLP, XLR8) are equal length, but I don't think that is true. Is this one truly equal length?

RV6 is not equal length. ATLP and XLR8 are.
