Hello:

I too had my SuperCharger installed by an Acura dealer. I suggest contacting Comptech and see if they have an approved dealer in your area. I drove to San Diego from the SFO area to have a dealer, who had already installed several SS do my install. My local dealer said they would, but they had not done one before.

As for "worth it."

YES

Be truthful with the guy...are there issues? Yes. But the issues tend to be greatly revolved around just how much you modify the car beyond a supercharger. ie....toss a high boost pulley on it for example....it can cause some issues if your car isnt properly prepared for it. If you go with the supercharger setup, comptech exhaust and leave it alone...you will be just fine with no issues. Start deleting the cats, changing out the j-pipe, ect ect. expect to have to get it tuned to run in its optimal range.

As for as runability though....no....you wont have any real issues. Basically...the more you modify it...the more you are going to have to "tweak" it to get it to optimal running conditions.

Most of the ENGINE modifications (only talking engine here) that you see people doing on here are fairly safe...dont require massive or any tuning to make em mate properly and run right nor totally change the character of the vehicle as a whole...

CAI
Crank Pully
Thermoblok spacers (or similar product from P2R)
Most of the CatBack exhaust systems (excluding Greddy due to LOUDness)
Comptech Supercharger (with or without any other mods in this sect)
Third cat delete pipe or test pipe
Aluminum Racing Radiators
Grounding systems (unneeded IMO on this car...but nonetheless)
Any battery upgrade

Its when you start adding the items below that you really need to seek out a good tuning source in order to get the vehicle to run properly and in its optimal conditions...

Comptech Supercharger mated with Greddy system (freer flowing)
Richie/ATLP/ect J-Pipe
Precat delete pipes
NOS systems
Methanol systems

Now...the following items are items IMO that you should really do some considering prior to installation due to the nature of the modification as it WILL change the overall character of the vehicle. It wont be so "luxury" anymore and will be more "race" so to speak.

Innovative Motor Mounts (vibe transfers from motor to cabin)
Comptech Supercharger (you have entered another realm here)
Greddy EVO2 Catback System (Race type loud) - others can chime in about other brand systems I havent had experience with

Thats just a quick rundown I can think of off the top of my head. Possibly others can chime in and tell what they think rather than just toss the guy into the fire without any real advise or experiences by just saying...go for it! Well...like most...this guy is smart and asking some questions ahead of time. Lets see if we cant inform him rather than just chide him into the heavily/overly modified ring guys! (as I chuckle to myself thinking...how did I get here?)

Oh ya...I found this really cool website a long time ago called Acurazine. lololol

Dude.....as you start out your journey....I just want to give you this one peice of advise. ok? Seriously. Listen up....cause I will only say this fifteen thousand times...ok? DONT OVEREXTEND YOURSELF FINANCIALLY MODDING YOUR CAR! Its just a car...or in my case an addiction. So much so...I have considered getting rid of the car to save my self and getting an LS430 instead. Something I wont mod. lol But Mikey wouldnt be a happy boy then and would likely get something else and start all over....so I may as well stay put....right? Shit...I cant buy much more for this car....but somehow these guys keep finding ways for me to spend my money...lol. Thats the kind of shit you are about to face my friend!

You know of any "dealers" in the Bay Area that install it? Actually, I'm at 42000 miles, I probably won't need to worry about warranty in a few months anyways, but it's still good info.

Did you use Acura of Escondido to install your supercharger?

I am sure it must cost alot of money to have a dealer install your supercharger and most have not or will not do it. With all the tuner shops in the bay area that have done this install, I think you are better off finding a shop to do the install. Black trax racing in Fremont and Tech3performance in San Jose are good shops with experence in the install.

You are missing the PRO's of having Acura install it. When they install it, you are still under warranty. If someone else installed it, and you have a problem, acura will INSTANTLY say it was due to improper installation.

In the long run, its worth going to the dealer

Plus dealers charge ~$109 per hour, and most major performance shops charge pretty much the same. Only thing the performance shops will not charge you tax, acura will
