Wondering about coolant temp
I got interested since I got the Garmin EcoRoute HD
bluetooth module that hooks upto OBDII port (comes with velcro too lol) and works with some garmins.
I found it while looking for a instant MPG monitor, then turns out it can erase codes, monitor gauges, etc PLUS mpg avg/inst. so anyway.
^ never mind that part. that was just blabbing.
my coolant stays 180F on 50-70 days then fluctuate between 180-187F on 70-90 days then 185-189 (never seen 190) going down insterstate.
(dash temp didn't even flinch from 170 till however hot i got)
i have also noticed, intake air temp is give-or-take 35F higher than outside temp going down the highway at 60-70mph
70-105
90-125
100-135
and ALSO noticed funny thing(or obvious thing). does everyone remember the coolant going through TB? now i'm gonna say it and make it BIG I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S THE COOLANT OR HOT AIR THROUGH HOT RADIATOR
because i think the air passes through TB super quick but if it's boiling temp maybe it CAN gain 5degrees
but. when coolant goes from 187 to 183, IAT goes from say, 110 to 115 (not exactly, but you get the idea)
the real question is, i was thinking 180 is hmmmm a bit low..
(thermostat isn't stuck open. just checked)
my previous car had coolant digital temp and it was always over 190, with oil temp 210-280(hey the pressure was okay-ish still lol)
i'm going to guess it's designed to run at 180-200 range... does anyone have info on the coolant??

coolant is routed through the TB so that those in frigid climates do not have frozen TB issues. Those of us without that consideration eliminate that and bypass the coolant to help keep intake temps down

Your coolant temps are just fine. You're putting WAY too much thought into this. Even my race car never tops 210 degrees even on the hottest of days with most of the front bumper blocked off for aero. The stock water temp gauge on the dash is absolutely worthless. It'll say the car is at near operating temp and it'll actually only be like 120 degrees so just don't even look at it.
btw - I really hope your last car wasn't seeing oil temps in the 280's.....
