Can someone explain WHY this ATLP sounds like a RV6?

It's music to my ears... Jizz.

exactly what I was saying the 3.2 Tl base compared to the 3.5 Type S when paired with an exhaust setup such as the atlp its sounds different and has like a deeper tone due to the .3 more liters lol. That is exactly what im trying compare in my exhaust combination thread.

SWEET SOUND

I would love to buy the RV6 true duals, but it seems very difficult to get it due to the very small production levels.

I would like to know the real HP difference between a Type-S with the long RV6 J-pipe and RV6 TD, and a Type-S with the RV6 long J-pipe and this ATLP catback.

I think I understand that the long RV6 J-pipe deletes the 3rd cat.

Is the Type-S in this video running STOCK OEM cats by the engine?

Thanks.

Merry Christmas.

Here's another video of the same car. If you look at the comments, a lot of them agree that it sounds like an M5/M6, awesome sauce.

By the way, what the hell are test pipes? Where do they go in the exhaust system and what do they do?

Also, do cold air intakes affect the sound at all? The guy in the video above had the Fujita CAIs.

Let me get this right ?

Precat deletes means the 2 cats by the engine are gone? and test pipes put in place of them ?

Pre means before. Precat= before cats ?

These terms are strange to me ?

I am thinking on a 2008 Type-S with RV6 Long j-pipe to delete the third cat, and ATLP quad tip single exhaust with an AEM V2 intake. How will this set-up be ? I want to pass emissions.

Also are the 2 cats (precats?) by the engine in the 08 Type-S better then the 900 count cats on a base TL ?

Just trying to figure out WHAT I WANT and CAN AFFORD.

Thanks for any answers.

I am rusty with this forum.

Merry Christmas

the hp difference will not be significant between the two.
the control being the same car. tl-s auto vs tl-s auto.

we have two primary cats.
pre-cat = the two before the 3rd.

and yes, the type-s primary cats has i think a 600 cell count.

and yes, the scenario you typed out above will pass emissions. as you are not messing with the primary cats.

.....

Yeah, the "pre-cat" term is odd. But that's what is used; it is now the common vernacular. "Pri-cat deletes" for Primary Cat Deletes would've been more "accurate", but guys like you and I will just have to live with the disappointment.

Emissions is a whole other kettle of fish. The summary answer is: any of these solutions, properly installed and properly operating, will not throw a CEL code.

No way you'd pass a sniff test with pre-cat deletes and a long tube J-pipe (or test pipe); you'll be cat-less.

Justin (as usual) is right on the Primary Cat cell counts. Here's the press release with the info: http://www.hondanews.com/channels/ac...-tl-powertrain

Awesome Thanks

I will probably get the ATLP catback with the long tube RV6 J-pipe. Which will delete the 3rd cat and leave the 2-600 count cats alone. Then probably the AEM V2 Intake. That should make my 08 Type-S sound plenty good and add a few HP

Along with either Tein SS or HT spec 2 coilovers, tint, cleared headlights with swithbacks, better 5 channel amp to maintain the ELS surround, and 2-12" subs. Wheels will be later on. I actually like the Type-S wheels when the car is lowered WDP baby

Probably some LEDs inside, backup LEDs. DVD player in glovebox, auto remote to close all windows from switchblade key. A-Spec body kit with a modified front to allow the base front A-Spec lip to fit the Type-S ( I dont like the Type-S A-Spec lip).

I think I got most of the mods.

Volk GT-S in silver would be AWSOME, but they are TOO $$$$

I wish AXIS didnt stop making the HIRO in hyper silver

Merry Christmas, and THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS

Thanks I did the same thing to a 2006 WDP TL Manual back in the spring of 2009, but I was a fool and tradded it in. This time I plan on keeping it, and paying cash.

Just planning and doing research now. I am not buying one until summer unless some kind of miracle happens

Merry Christmas

I will put up a progress threat

Yes I will. Somebody on here had either a 07 or 08 Type-S and had a body shop install the base 07-08 TL A-Spec lip to his Type-S.

Sorry for going off subject.

I read another way is to put a base 07-08 TL Bumper onto the 07-08 Type-S so the base A-Spec lip will bolt right up. I am not sure if this is a fact, I only read it somewhere awhile back. All I know is I use to have both, an 07 Type-S with A-Spec body kit (didnt like the front) and an 06 With the A-Spec body kit that I LOVED !!!! Maybe somebody can add to what I have posted here??

JD bro....imagine this (this diagram helped me a lot)........

ignore the intake part for now....

you have a front catalytic converter (TL has 2, bank1 and bank2)....these are also referred to as Precats....when you replace these with Straight pipes (also known as test pipes) they are called as Precat Deletes, since your deleting the Precats....

Then you have the Jpipe (not in the diagram)....they merge the 2 banks into 1 pipe....

Then you have the rear cat also called the 3rd cat....most new version Jpipes (XLR8 V2 and RV6 V3) delete this as well....olders jpipe version's you needed a test pipe/race pipe (resonated test pipe) to delete this....this cat does not have any 02 sensors plugging into it....the precats have 2 O2 sensors each....

Then you have a catback exhaust....read catalytic converter back....beyond the catalytic converter....which basically means, the exhaust connects AFTER your 3rd cat

The catback (stock) has a resonator then a mid muffler and a Y-split (splits 1 pipe into 2) and then each has a muffler and a tip

hope thats helps....

its always a good idea to know what you want to do before you "buy" a mod....and before you can know what you want, you ought to know what you have

Thankyou

I tried to change my Avatar but I dont know how. All my pictures are too big and I don't know how to change that. You should be happy. When I joined AZ years ago I got teased because I would put up a picture with every post. I don't know if Kennedy is still on here, but I use to argue alot also. Not much anymore, doesn't help others.

Peace
Merry Christmas

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend, Thy Will be Done. I hope your ok today

I don't want to spend a fortune on HFC or all the other stuff like I did on my 2006 WDP TL. Just a nice sound and a few more HP is fine with me. I drove a 2010 loaded 2/SS/RS LS3 Camaro around for 26 months, so I got the POWER bug out of me. 0-50mph in 3.4 seconds WAS FUN !!! But I prefer the 08 Type-S .

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS ALL
Hey thanks for the concern. Ya, I don't want to rant about my relationship issue. But.. I am on the prowl again, looking for that girl.

I know what you mean about unable to see modded TL in the area... I get extremely excited to see a modded TL especially one with ATLP that I would cut through traffic to drive next to the guy.

This happened once... KBP Type-S, lowered, flush, ATLP V2 quads, ATLP roof spoiler.. sick as FOOBAR. I drove up next to the guy and... well.. you can read the rest of the story in the Spotted Norcal thread. To say the least, I was on a emotional rollercoaster after what had happened next.

I also saw Hi Speed's turbo'ed TL at a restaurant parking lot. I was trying to stalk him but I couldn't find him
