i recently purchased a 2007 acura tl-s....love the car but would like to start modding it slightly. i found the weapon r black dragon intake and its like 100 dollars. was wondering it it was a decent intake or garbage?

Its considered a short ram intake.
Colder or denser air has more mass, which when fed to your engine will produce more power.
a short ram intake will provide your engine with cooler air WHILE MOVING, at idle the short air intake will suck upp all the heat from the engine.
the two things that kill the TL's performance is weight and heat soak.

 

Intakes are intakes pretty much, biggest difference you'll see between the cheapest and most expensive would be 1-3 hp. But comparing a full size to a short ram well that's whole lot of change.

short ram = hotter air, louder engine noise. make your engine heat up hence slow performance

full intake = colder air, semi loud engine noise better performance + mpg
