Upcoming performance mods...doing everything right?

Sorry for the noob questions, my first time doing performance mods.

So after doing some extensive research this is my planned setup.

xlr8 j-pipe
xlr8 test pipe
comptech catback
weapon r SRI.

I'm trying to achieve a nice throaty exhaust note, but not too loud. Don't want it to sound too riced out and would like to be comfortable with noise inside the car. From what I've read this setup should achieve what I want correct? Am I missing any components as far as the exhaust system goes?

And the reason I'm going with SRI, I'm a little paranoid about hydrolocking my engine with a CAI, as rare as it may be.

Now on to the suspension...
progress RSB with ES greaseable bushings
a-spec suspension.

I read somewhere that the stock end links should be fine for my style of driving. Some light spirited driving but nothing too crazy.

Am I missing anything important? Does this setup look ok?

thanks in advance

I dunno about the SRI

are you going to be driving through puddles... I highly doubt it...

Looks ok to me... but I don't like XLR8 j-pipes becuz they hang incredibly low.

hmm.. that is an issue then. Especially if I get the a-spec suspension which will lower the car. Is there a j-pipe with better ground clearance that you recommend?

the RV6 V3 jpipe is the latest and greatest jpipe of them all.
it doesnt hang low, it retains stock clearance.

If I get the rv6 v3 jpipe, that means I won't be needing the test/race pipe correct? Which essentially means I won't be having a 3rd cat. I understand this is probably best for performance gains, but I'm just worried about having problems with smell and also not passing a visual inspection by not having a 3rd cat. I'd hate to spend the money then realize later I made a mistake.

So if I decide I DO want to keep the 3rd cat, which would be the best way to go for stock clearance. What about atlp jpipe/race pipe combo? And for atlp jpipe, which version is the latest?

The cat you are replacing is a third "extra" cat. It helps achieve the ULEV II rating.
the two main primaries cats takes care of emissions and smell.

I cant speak for the others, as I have Richies V3 Jpipe.

Removing the third cat would not mess with smell or inspection.

You'll lose HP with the SRI.

What everyone else said: don't buy an SRI since it's probably actually a negative for performance and don't worry about getting rid of the 3rd cat. Worst case scenario = you put your stock jpipe back on for the day for emissions testing. Although most places won't even notice it's missing since the precats do all of the actual filtering.

Except possibly a visual inspection (many places don't or won't notice, but it has happened before).

Forget the ES bushings. IMHO. I think they contribute (how much I don't know for sure) to reports of broken sub-frame welds where the RSB brackets attach. My personal opinion.

Also, when I had the ES bsuhings, I had a squeak. I took 'em off because of my concerns about the weld, and voila, no more squeak (yes, they were properly greased).

Oh, yeah .... and they don't make a greasable bushing that fits with a 24mm bar. You have to dick around making the brackets holes bigger because the spacing isn't wide enough for the TL.

Just use the urethane ones that come with the Progress RSB.

All good suggestions above. My personal setup (love it BTW):

AEM v2 CAI (don't worry about the hydro stuff, splash shields are really good and stay away from deeper water obviously), ATLP v2 jpipe (perfect ground clearance), stock 3rd cat, ATLP resonated catback exhaust, Tein H tech springs (just the right drop & ride stiffness IMO), Type S RSB (got a killer deal on it). I couldn't be happier with these mods, the tone of the engine setup is perfect, great increase in "butt dyno", and awesome handling improvements with the springs & RSB.

The fun part about this setup is that I did everything gradually, piece by piece. I did install the jpipe & exhaust at the same time, but everything else was pretty much one thing at a time.

Agreed on the XLR8 jpipe, it does hang low so that is a concern. You could also go with the ATLP high flow cat instead of the race pipe (I might do that down the road).

I think the bottom line is to do your research and if possible, find some Azine members in your area that have some or all of these parts installed so you can see/hear/feel how they are. Best of luck

A thought about the intake:

If you're so concerned about water that you just refuse to do a CAI, skip the Weapon R and instead remove the stock intake silencer. That way you get a little noise and keep the stock top end of the intake.

SRI is a waste; so says the conventional wisdom.

I agree with everyone else: the SRI isn't the best option. If a CAI scares you, do what Bearcat suggested and just remove the intake silencer and throw in a K&N filter.

That exhaust setup is a great setup.

It will be deep and throaty. If you are looking for a little more depth and throatiness consider our XLR8 exhaust.

The Progress Rear Sway Bar comes with new bushings; the stock end links will be fine if they are in good condition.

I would reconsider the SRI. However, you should consider the K&N Cold Air Intake since it can be converted to SRI if you like.

They are roughly 0.25" lower than the subframe. So if you scrape the subframe it will be a problem. Generally anyone lowered over 2" might have an issue with speed bumps.

Our j-pipe will work fine with the A-Spec suspension.

I'm thrilled with my RV6 V3 J-pipe. Same clearance as stock with noticeable gains, especially mid-range. No smell or rasp with stock Type-S exhaust. From what I've heard the SRI doesn't really produce any gains, at least once the engine is warmed up, so it's not worth the money unless you just like the sound. Perhaps consider the intake resonator removal instead?

Is the AEM V2 CAI is shorter in length than the V1 one?
