Type-S exhaust Mods

I've got a 07 Type-S with precat deletes, j-pipe, test pipe, mid muffler delete, resonator a aftermarket mid muffler and stock piping and mufflers from there. I added the aftermarket mid muffler after the pcd install because it was way too loud Now I want to change it up. If I delete the mid muffler what should I put in it's place to keep the noise down but performance up? I am also considering going with larger piping up to the stock mufflers.

nothing. you need to complete the cat back.
buy one, or have a shop custom build you one.

changing out resonators doesnt add or subtract performance.
just noise.

you will not be getting any performance from changing the mid muffler....

what I understand is that you have PCD/Jpipe/Test Pipe and Stock exhaust with some muffler mods....

I would take it to a shop and replace the piping with 2.5" add a resonator (18"-22" long) have it split to two 2.25" (so that you can reuse the mufflers you got) and call it a day....

if money is no issues, I would just sell the current catback setup + test pipe and buy the richie's exhaust OR keep the test pipe and get the ATLP/XLR8 exhaust....

Damn thats gotta be one loud TL-S with all that exhaust work lol...or should I say lack of exhaust :-) High flow cats would probably significantly reduce the noise/rasp and still give you a good amount of extra power. For me personally I think stock TL-S exhaust with high flow cats and jpipe would be all you need and keep the car quiet with great power gains. No cats, no resonators, and muffler mods are just going to create a awful sounding TL.

^right on.

After I put on a resonator, I believe it would be the perfect sleeper!!!

this is what my setup looks like:

PCD's-->v3 jpipe-->stock exhaust.

no one's dyno'd before and afters.
you simply cant add up the estimated gains from each piece to get your estimated total.

i suspect i'm at 250-255 whp with just PCD's and jpipe.

honestly the number varies from person to person from dyno to dyno....

you being 6MT your numbers will be slightly higher (1-2) than what 5AT guys would get....also the weather matters....you dont want to dyno at 100F day...you are better off at 60-70F days....I personally am waiting for Fall....

The numbers gained come best from the manufacturer....like Richie's PCD, he said they will gain around 20-25hp/tq (people correct me if am wrong)....

dyno comes in very handy to see what your car is making at the end of it all....if you have 15 bolt ons, you cant just add what power your making from each and call it a day....so doing a dyno in the end after you have all your bolt ons, makes more sense so you can say hey am sitting at 300whp and 280wtq (just an example)....

Yes I have pcd's, j-pipe, test pipe and stage 3 1/2 exhaust. I would like to switch out the piping but and aftermarket mid muffler but am worried about noise. I need to go check out some exhaust shops.

I would love to have richies exhaust but can't see spending that much. Money is always an issue.

since you have PCD's, jpipe and test pipe...you just need a catback....

this is what i would do, go 3" all the way back and split them to 2x2.5"....

you would need a 3" in-out 22" resonator (will be quite) or 18" (will be kinda loud) and
2x2.5" in-out 4x9x14 mufflers....this will cost you like 225-250 shipped from summitracing....i would go for magnaflow mufflers/resonators...

once you have that in, take it into any exhaust shop and get the piping/welding done...this should not be more than $300...so you have a custom catback for $550-600
