eh, blow 'em off . . . while I agree it doesn't make sense to go that far with a TL, I can understand . . . I come from a generation that would put the biggest engine on the smallest cars . . . . so it's cool with me.

That said, try sticking with a turbo like Allmotor did and you'll be fast enough in that car . . . if you want to go faster . . . I would suggest trading it in on something that is more mod friendly than a CL/TL .. . . I think that is where most people are coming from.

My only point was that the kid created the thread to brainstorm the idea and out of know where he gets flamed because he is young and has disposable money regardless of where he got it. This is supposed to be an automotive forum. I happen to have started two companies from the ground up on my own, without any help. I do well with them, but even I could not afford to do what this guy wants to do. If I could I still wouldn’t do it. He may have been arrogant with his words but either he is young or trying to get a rise out of you and it worked. While it would be incredibly illogical to do a twin turbo setup on a TL, I am curious to hear mechanical solutions to the problems posed by such an installation. This is why I subscribe to this forum. One arrogant kid should not be able to make you so heated.

I am reading this thread.

I'm not even going to comment on any of this, because for one, I don't want to get into an argument, and two, some of you are just not worth my time.

I'm stepping out for a smoke and laughing about this.

Some of you guys should check out the Forced Induction section of my board, and look at how much room twins and singles take. You really need to look at 'packaging' issues before you go buy some turbos. Some very general points to keep in mind:

-Where will the turbo(s) be positioned?
-How will you run the oil return line(s)? Used to lubricate the turbos.
-Front mount intercooler? How will you run the ducting?

I have a custom supercharger setup on my car and it took some time to figure out how everything would route.

If you have the money there is always a way... It would be very expensive to create your own system, even more to tune it to a stock block... But if you got the funds, what the hell, go for it....

For $15,000 you can get a custom turbo on just about anything.

Frankly a manifold mounted supercharger that is like an Eaton might work better since you would not have to relocate a million things like the power steering, alternator, and various lines.

2 tubos? no. maybe 1, but you'll need new pistons or head shims. turbo can be mounted down low where the exhaust downtubes meet.

yea honestly fuck all of you who bitch at him for having a nice car. His parents worked for it, let them/him reap the benefits and enjoy themselves. As for all of you with 3rd generations, I know you envy my 1998 2.5...

Oh, come on.

I don't give two shits if his parents bought him a Bentley. I was just laughing because I think it's hilarious. He probably heard about twin "turbos" on a Skyline and thought he should do it to his TL, without knowing anything about forced induction. Get real.

Geez...

Some of the dreamers in here need to pop the hood on their cars, and then do some research in to how this stuff is mounted.

I think twins might be hard to fit in there. A single is more likely. One of the reasons that folks do twins is because twins will spool up faster than a big single. But that being said, you are not going to put a big single on a stock 2005 TL.

If you can find pics of a CL, 2G TL, or something like that with a turbo or supercharger, you can decide what makes sense for you.

You end up having to upgrade some other stuff too, but with say a Comptech supercharger I'm sure the kit comes with fuel system upgrades and hopefully some way to dial back some of the timing advance.

Three words, ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

Any kind of FI on the 3G TL will require some kind of ems. Last I heard, Comptech is still trying to figure out this aspec of the SC for our 3G TL.

So really I've got one word, TUNE!

(Honestly, I find picturing a front mount on the 3G TL in my head very humourous.)

Another thing to consider about a turbo system is the fabrication work that would need to be done, even if two turbos would fit no problem. Since there is no manufactured turbo kit for the TL, everything would have to be modified to fit the engine bay and vice-versa. Even if it's possible, you're probably looking at a few thousand dollars worth of fab work and weeks without the car.

I couldn't agree more. My coworkers are trying to figure out how in the blue hell I'm able to afford a brand new TL and a mortgage payment on my salary. It's really simple. I had some money saved up from years back and finally decided to treat MYSELF to something that I've always wanted. As far as I'm concerned, you only live once!
