Turbo Manifold Question

Where the hell do I find one lol, or do you guys know a good fabricator, that wont charge me 4k for a custom manifold. I seen a video on youtube, halferland, he grabbed a 99 V6 accord turbo manifold and chop it down and reweld it... im practically might do the same if I dont find one...

Well seeing that the 3G doesn't have a manifold, good luck with that. Need to get something custom done and the "c" word doesn't come cheap for good quality!

I actually like my car so if you dont have anything positive to contribute, your response isn’t necessary. That been said, What J series head is interchangeable with the J32A3? Can i swap a J32A2 onto the J32A3 block with little or no work?

What are you trying to accomplish? I ask because Honda never made a J-Series turbo manifold, never did, and most likely never will. While I believe the heads from a J32A2 will physically bolt onto a J32A3 block, what would be the benefit of doing that?

🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️😂 This is the help I get, obviously Im trying to turbo my Acura TL. So in order for me to accomplish that, I need to piece together a turbo kit, right, because obviously there isn’t a kit. But what I need is a turbo manifold(is the piece of metal pipe that connects the front and back exhaust port together), So I was asking some of the members here, who are turbo, how did they accomplish in making a turbo manifold or a custom j pipe that connects to the cats.

Now ever since, Honda went cheap on us with the single exit exhaust port, Right, I was thinking maybe swapping in a type s 3.2l head, that has a more traditional exhaust port and easier to acquire a turbo manifold. Do you understand now?

It might help if you check your attitude; being a jerk isn't going to get you a lot of help, especially when you are your own worst enemy in that you didn't specifically state what you were trying to accomplish.

A few comments regarding the J32A3 heads and other turbo related things:
  • It had little to do with "cheaping out" (yes, the new design is probably less expensive to build but...) the new head design with the cast in EXHAUST manifold (remember, there are also things known as INTAKE manifolds) improved performance over the old style separate exhaust manifold.
  • As an engineer, to my way of thinking, the new cast in exhaust collector would be a HUGE advantage when trying to come up with a custom interface between a cylinder head and a turbocharger. Silly me for thinking of something so outrageous.
  • There really aren't very many turbo applications for these cars, if for no other reason than packaging, "V" style engines simply do not lend themselves to turbocharging compared to "I" style engines; simple fact of life.

If you get the J32A2 'head swap' question answered, I think Gerzy Bear performance was testing this idea on a 3G J engine, to your liking and want to be a guinea pig, you could perhaps use the turbo manifold MidoriTL was thinking about using, below, on his 2G TL; however, he never followed through.

That is exactly what I brought for my 04 accord hfp with a j32 swap. I also brought the cat delete manifolds and welded both to make it work actually I replaced front and rename subframes from a 04tl sport

Now if the OP will ever return to his thread, he can speak with someone who 'fabbed' his own turbo manifold using 3G heads.

Sorry to have sounded like a jerk, I didnt have my morning joe 🤦🏽‍♂️ Lol, & if you take a look at the video, you can see how he built his turbo manifold. You can see his more up to date videos and see that it worked & the only reason the engine blew up(after a year) was because he went over a bump and a oil line ripped(talk about bad luck).

Any guys here think they can replicate his work?

I used the same kit as that guy. Kit was for a 98-02 v6 accord. Then I brought the cat deletes and welded those puppies to make what was needed

Ooo ok, ima go that route then, 🤟🏾😎🤟🏾
Im just trying to push 8lbs of boost with a big turbo, start spooling after 4k because i do daily my baby lol running on a stock block, no need to put any more stress on her. I do have an extra engine im going to start building up, ima probably start w them forged rods from halferland performance, pretty cheap and he has some good dyno numbers. My goal is 500hp, on e85

My turbo spoils at 43-4400 rpm, I am running 6psi, on stock internals. I also have a spare engine that I want to rebuild. I am waiting on some stock j35z3 pistons that I ordered for the 08-012 accord 6speed. A very good source said it should drop my compression to about 9:8:1 soooooo more boost I say

Did you tune yet? I just ordered the hondata, im trying to tune right away after install lol & I got venturi throttle body, ported runners, & a couple more things from the halferland page. Im debating on the intake manifold which to get, I got my eyes on the holley efi intake mani tho, it looks small but tall so im going to have extra space in the hood but most likely need a hood spacer(I HATE THEM). Hopefully on e85 and all the bolt ons, i can break the 400 mark nd get close as i can to 500. Thanks for the help tho, I went for a custom mani, got slapped w 4k bill🥺 JESUS talk about raping my wallet. I couldn’t justify the price for it, so I never pulled the trigger but now that you showed me a easier way.... Weld them straight to the cats 🤟🏾😎🤟🏾🙏👍

I’ll probably cut a nice even square where it says acura on the front bumper for the intercooler.

I seen your build thread, man your TL is one of my goals🤤 that car is sexyyyyy afff, That was a nice touch there with the front bumper and the intercooler. I always beat myself up for not saving up a little more and buying a TL-S 6Speed.

Thank you!! I asked about the trans in your car because depending on year, there's a few more hoops to jump through in regards to tuning with Flashpro. I believe you will need some kind of adapter or harness as well as an '07-'08 ecu for your car. I'm sure someone can correct me but I believe it varies a little bit year to year for 04-06. If your car was auto, you would not be able to tune it without a full standalone ecu setup.

Yeah😒 I checked with heeltoe and they have instructions to have the hondata properly installed.... Another reason, I should of bought a TL-S lmao. It cost way less and its less of a hassle to install.

I went to the dyno and did 250 on my first pull, but the rain came down so we had to cAncel the tuning session. But since then I removed the engine and was about to install some j35 pistons from the manual 2012 accord that should drop my compression to about 9:8:1. Just waiting for my bearing so the I can reassemble the block. [

I got the Ecu harness connecters from a 07 Tl-S auto then I cut the harness of my accord then soldered the Tl harness to it. Saved myself $350 plus shipping and customs duty to the Bahamas. Auto parts are 65% the 7.5% vat😒

You can start with these--> https://www.powerrevracing.com/J-Ser...e-2-p/p391.htm

Gerzy did install A2 heads on a A3 but it does involve some welding and machining as the oil and/or water ports don't align out of the box.

Good Luck!

What type brand of connecting rod bearings do you recommend? I went with oem beacuse many say Honda bearings aren’t the way to go.

I used genuine Honda

The packaging from the factory was not good and had to order on different occasions to get pristine bearings and the mix/match to get the precise clearances.

But this was also +10 years ago
