I think he was (no offense intended here whatsoever) the most recent "Johnny-Come-Lately" on this project. Still no more than 2 posts and not been back.

Ok guys...interesting read over on NICOCLUB...

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/236967

(in somebodys in box)
Ray, I was informed that you are building a remote mount turbo system for your vehicle and wanted to contact you. FYI - STS owns the patent on building and installing remote mounted turbo systems. We do offer individual and bulk licensing agreements so that people can legally fabricate remote mount turbos so please contact us. Operating under our license is the best way to ensure that you are not infringing on our patents and also ensures that you will get the proper parts and engineering/technical support to do the job properly and end up with a system that works well.

Could this fellow be our answer to a turbo kit?

^^ Dunno... Do you think he took our advice literally and stopped posting after his second until he actually finished his idea? That'd be awesome if it's him

Yes...I sure did. I talked to the man himself at great length today and the process it would take to accomplish the task. Interesting talk.

I think our Mikey has better chances coming out with a Turbo than any "pro" I've seen on here. Hack even I have better chances producing a Turbo in my garage, haha.

C'mon set us up with a nice Turbo already! So far there's been a lot of talk and no actions, talk is cheap.

Got all excited thinking k24em2 might've chimed in. I suppose it would be very amusing to go on someones board and post that I've got whatever it is they need, for cheap, and then regularly lie some progress posts. Then dissapear. Hah! Might try it just to see what its like

Basically...he said it could be accomplished a number of ways. Either way...engine management is your own problem to a great degree still as they are not a software company and dont tune....tuning would still be your own problem...so its still a far shot off at best.

Basically...if there is someone from where STS is from...they are willing to work with you to set up a remote mount system. They have the technology and R&D to more or less eliminate the lag issues that used to exist in these kinds of systems. What he said was he could send you a universal kit and work with you setting it up....OR...one could drop their car off there so they could use it for the R&D and get some parts in exchange for letting them develop it on your car for mass market.

damn yo... sucks that they're so far away... if anyone needed a 2G for R&D on a Turbo and they were only a couple hours away, I'd be haulin ass to sign up... I'm assuming a turbo kit for a 2G would be similar to a 3G, especially if it was a remote/rear turbo, with the only major difference being engine management. If that's the case, having a bolt-on developed for a 2G would be a considerable stride in developing one for 3Gs... I could be wrong, tho, but I'd still give up my car for R&D if there's a place not too far away attempting to develop a kit

Still here, we are working on a new shop right now. Groundbreaking is on April 15th, and we hope to be moved in by July. The time line is still the same, early 2008 on kit availability.

Are there any 6spd TL's around the midwest? The TL we have available is an auto, and we would like to check fitment on a manual transmission before we ship the kits.

Yeah, it will be FUN at first and UNIQUE with BRAGGING RIGHTS.
Traction will be your enemy though as expected but with the right MONEY and parts it can be corrected, so add serious suspension to the list + DR + possible new/or custom front axles.

HOWEVER, one is clear that your RELIABILITY will go down to toilet along with ½ (if best) INVESTMENT return when TL parted out later or traded in. And that is assuming the engine (tuning) and car lived through the final point of sale down the road.

Again, it’s my opinion, but considering the above investment/time condition it makes sense to get 335i bimmer with FULL WARRANTY and FACTORY FORCED INDUCTION (twin-turbo) for the money spent on TL + turbo kit + suspension and the rest mentioned above. It dyno 280whp/280wtq right from the factory, then if still not enough then just add two mods - PROcede/Exhaust and get 355whp/405wtq and be done with it. The PROcede (computer) takes 10min to remove so warranty won’t be and issue when there is a need to show up for service at BMW. Yet, it will blow any turbo TL in both performance and handling while the rest is an optional taste.
Nicely stated... agreed.

Nice! Good luck finishing this project! I think you've made more progress than everyone else combined at this point

Just out of curiosity, do you think that can the turbo design you're developing could eventually be further engineered to fit 2nd gens, as well? Based on the fact that the 3rd gen models were derived from 2Gs, I would think that the less complex ecu with similar technology that is simply a little older should make the cars a little easier to work with once you've already done it on a more advanced model, wouldn't it? I'm just curious about whether or not the final design can be fine-tuned a little more for the development of a bolt-on for other models... My assumptions could be totally wrong, but at least thinking this way makes me happy for now, because I really want to go f/i later on down the road

I haven't looked under the hood of a 2g for a looong time, but I'm sure we could work something out.

They're pretty similar, I'd say the biggest difference is all that extra plastic covering , but otherwise they're very similar... the headers are different, too, but in reality, I think that they're similar enough that the most work in coverting the kit for a 2gen would come from fine-tuning engine management

Im glad that your posts indicate some sort of progress. So what kind of engine management are you gonna use? Do you already have something put together as far as the hardware(manifold)? Also what size turbo, please be a big-ass gt35r!

Regardless of the 2g or 3g, most of the plastic panels will need to be removed in order to fit everything under the hood.

Basic specs at this point are twin turbo, size is not yet determined. Engine management is also yet to be determined, and there will most likely be an air to water intercooler.

This will be the first time in automotive history a twin turbo kit is released before a single turbo setup on a production vehicle.

Some of you guys never cease to amaze me.

Borat [high five]!

Yes, DEFINITE high five! Glad to hear that someone taking initiative has finally gone past simply thinking about it...

PS- you can remove all the plastic covering in my car for all I care if that's what it takes to get a TT 2gen (most of it isn't on right now, anyway... lol)... just let me know
