True dual custom exhaust
I been looking around for the right exhaust for the right price, I just can't bring myself to pay 1k+ for exhaust. In a week or two I'm going to make a set up of my own. I was going to get 2.25" or 2.5" from my pcd's to some 40 series flowmaster mufflers. Anyone got any inputs?
|
i have seen a couple of magnaflow customized exhausts for our cars on yoututbe. some sound good some sound like crap. research my friend. dont think any of these were true duals though. good luck keep us posted.
|
I been researching havnt can't across a true dual for our cars, I know richy has this true dual but I was leaning toward a customization stand point. If anyone has seen or
Heard of one Please let me know thanks! |

Richies exhaust is not a real true dual. it goes into one and then back to two. No point in doing a true dual for our cars. Just go to a single 2.5" pipe and save the money. Your other option for 500.00 would be a Tsudo bolt on exhaust. Sounds great and you will spend that or close to have an exhaust made. You gotta pay to play.
|
I've heard a lot of bad things about Tsudo, something about welds braking.

well let me know how the exhaust system works for you, i heard a couple youtube videos but the exhaust sounds a little quite for my taste. Let me know what you think of the system when you get it.

Where it goes from 2-1-2 is nothing like an X-pipe or H-pipe. Its the closest dual exhaust made for our cars but it is not a true dual.

Are you kidding me? Riches exhaust is in fact a true dual. Every performance dual exhaust has an x-pipe or an h-pipe that merges both banks to equalize pressure.

He's right its not a true "dual" exhaust. But what you could do is buy his v3 j pipe and the dual exhaust and just cut that flange out and weld in two pipes to reconnect the j pipe with the two exhaust pipes and that would make it a true dual exhaust.
|
i was about to say that also :tomato:
|
it would be a lot cheaper to make a custom dual exhaust, under half the price of riches'.
|
But what if any are the benifits of a true dual other then just being able to tell everyone you have it?
|
im all about single 4" exhaust :). Richies new j-pipe is sexy as F**k!!! there is really not reason to go true dual exhaust unless you are putting massive power down with F/I (turbo). Richies setup will be adequate for bolt-on mods. :)

i had started a thread but didnt get around building the exhaust....i think all your questions will be answered in this thread

thanks for your guys help

I have the Tsudo exhaust it sounded good for the first 1000 miles now it sounds like garbage, sounds ok at lower RPM's but when you hit high RPM's sounds slow and it holds the car down, i think im gonna go back to stock exhaust because the stock exhaust makes my car move faster, i dunno what the deal is, maybe someone can help me find out whats the issue here? I wont recommend the exhaust to anyone as of right now.

^^^ just an exhaust or do you have precat deletes/jpipe/3rd cat delete ?

Do you think thats the reason why the cars is runnig like i have 1 ton of metal in the trunk? Car drives fast with the stock exhaust, almost no hesitaiton at all, installed the exhaust out about 1,000 miles on it and now it doesnt sound god at all plus the car feels like of there is something holding it back, im not sure what it is quite yet. PS. Car moves fast at lower RPM's but slow at higher RPM's |
by adding a free flowing you added some low end power and hence you feel faster at lower rpm....the power curve is not really smooth in ur case....
when you add precats and jpipe and 3rd cat delete...you add power across the power band and hence you feel faster through out....i can almost bet you love gears 1 and 2...but hate 3rd onwards....you feel that "pull" is missing.... add the remaining parts n ur golden.... |

go ahead and finish the exhaust setup....add the jpipe and precats at the same time....run a 3rd cat delete....once your done with that...add a CAI/mod the stock intake like other members have....
the mods list dont really end....you have the UR pulley....ported and polished runners/manifold/etc etc etc |

your welcome....thats what everyone on this forum is doing...helping each other...
OP sorry for :hijack: and hope some information was useful... |
ar1b3nz: Instead of bashing an exhuast all over the forum, do the research that swoosh helped you out with and then go from there.

I have apologized in your thread and explained what i was doing. So next time maybe send me a pm before getting all pretty with me on here, I have already thank him for the help |
Based upon what i have done different times with my exhaust....and i have changed it a few times....lol. Your on the right track with your setup, i would recommend magnaflow over the flowmasters. I have had both and stuck with the magnaflows cause there is little to no drone in the cab. I dont have a true duel like your talking about.
Mine is a custom J/y pipe from the cats all the way back. 3in all the way , glass pack in the middle for drone kill and the into a 10 series flowmaster where the old resonator muff was. then split out to two magnaflows. It has a nice deep sound and screams when you get on it, but no overkill. Good Luck on your choice, Get what makes you happy. |

I ended up finding a used richies "true cat back" exhaust for sale from a member on here. It only couple hundred more than i was planing on spending, but this is a better system and it will save me some headaches lol. Might be doing. Custom exhaust on the wifes car will probably be using some of your guys ideas. Thanks for everyones input.

I could care less about the whole freedom of speech crap. My point was before you start bashing on an exhaust do research and educate yourself on what could be causing the issue you are having. One bad thing said about something on this forum and everyone thinks its right. People seem to think this site is the end all and be all to moding a TL.
now no homo when i say this :gheyhug: |
I am N/A. I really didnt lose a whole lot of low end, i havent done any dynos either though. With the glass pack in the middle and then running into the 10 series flowmaster it gives it just the right tone with the magnaflows at the end.. I guess the way my muffler guy explained it to me it like a musical instrument. You can go like the trumpet or the tuba .....lol. I will say this on the freeway it really helps in the higher rpms.
I should also add that i have the mdx intake spacer also which brought some of my low end back to normal. |
yes the MDX spacer will add to your low end...but the minute you go to ported and polished runner and intake manifold you will have to loose the mdx spacer....
your exhaust might sounds nice but look into the power gains....but in the end its your car...its what you like  |
I guess i have just the lesser of two evils....lol. There will always be a trade off unless i go F/I. It sounds great and still gets good mileage so im good with it. Lets face it without F/I these engines will never have much more power than stock. The few bolt ons you can do is about it.
|
actually if you port n polish couple parts and get a nice exhaust and do some more engine mods....you could well make ~300whp...which is like 70-80 more than stock....staying NA....

^^^ yes that is true....but for FI i think you need to be a lot more mechanically inclined...if this is your daily driver, i would rather go the route of pnp....with SC or turbo, if 1 thing fails and you dont really know what it is, the car will be sitting in the shop....
|
FI is a 8k dollar commitment
