Tanabe Exhaust System

Just wanted to add another manufacturer that is possible going to make us an exhaust. They have two new exhaust systems: 1) The Medallion Touring (under 93db + power) 2) The Medallion Concept G. I spoke to a guy named Reggie and told him about the forum and guys looking for a manufacturer to make an exhaust for us TL'ers. Please bombard them with emails like we have to Greddy and Apexi. These new systems are really nice. Check them out at www.tanabe-usa.com and email them at info@tanabe-usa.com Thanks guys!!!

Well alot of people have viewed this thread but have not responded to it. The Greddy thread got a lot of responses and this is just the same with a great manufacturer that is willing to help us out if people show interest. Has anyone emailed them or contacted them????

I sent an email, I have a custom magnaflow exhaust but I would consider switching. Plus it helps the cause.

Sent them an email. What about the SM Hyper exhaust? That looks pretty good too.

This is the reply back I got from them

Thank you for your email.

I hope we do get more response for the 3G TL. There is still no
development for this vehicle at this time.

Please check back with us from time to time.

I'm in... I dont understand why they are not jumping on it... They are going to let Greddy get to the market first? I think that our crowd would be more willing to dump 900 bux on an exhaust than a Scion.

I can't believe it is this hard for someone to develop an exhaust for our cars. They keep putting out exhausts for pus bucket Scions, Sunbirds, Vibes, etc. And they are all over the G35's, why can't someone grow some hair on their feet and make one for us, instead of everyone going custom. I'll talk to a shop that does custome work around me and see if they will put something together.

custom exhaust work is much better and easier to have done. i would rather have more control over what was being put into my car than having a system that is like everyone elses. r&d into an exhaust system isnt cheap, and with the scion being marketed as a car which is easy to modify, i can totally understand their willingness to pursue work in that direction.

My only problem with a custom exhaust is that anybody good is going to be overpriced. If I can get this for 750-1000 bux. I would know what I paid for, know that it was installed correctly (cause I would do it), and not get pissed at some shop when something went wrong, or I wasnt happy with their service...

Thats why Im here. I get to hear how great the stuff is... If Im about to dump a grand on it I dont want to be the first one to note that it rattles at 3k rpm.

Worked out good for me...I love my exhaust...cost around 500.00 installed the way I wanted it. But I did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions...drove an hour away to have it built.

What set-up did you get (which mufflers, resonators, etc)? Is there any drone inside the cabin-the wife doesn't like the ricer sound a lot of cars around here have.

Check out his link of pictures, and his tag... SS Magnaflow exhaust. Pictures show no resonators...

The question is... Is it worth 500 to get a cat back system like yours... Or dump a grand on a mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust.

Perhaps Im getting too crazy. Im not going to SC my car, nor am I going to put headers on it. (at least until its out of warrantee).

I will put 2 grand for tires and wheels first.

My wife hates the civic sound.....Like I said I did A LOT of research...I even walked up to a guy in a 350z and told him what I was doing with my exhaust and he let me sit in his car to see what the drone would be like.
1) I have found that the cannons (round) mufflers create a lot more of that "ricer" or as my wife calls in flea sound.
2) Yes it does have a drone, I have the 5AT and I can't control it as much as someone with a 6M/T...but its really isn't that bad, and my wife LOVES it...as she is prissy as it comes.
3) Magnaflow everything...from cat to Y 2.5 pipe...Y to mufflers 2.25 pipe...the third muffler was removed. I but and 14' SS magnaflow resonator in right after the cat....I keep the stock tips...check out the pics
Part Numbers....by the way I am going to link you to the site I bought the stuff from
Magnaflow SS Resonator 14416

2 Magnaflow Mufflers 14362

Do your research and have fun.

I did a quick search on ebay and found them for around $10.00 less..

Thank you for your request! Every request we receive gets put into serious consideration, and the more we receive, there will be a higher probability for such a system to be created.

While we would love to create a system for every car available, since we are a business, there are many factors such as demand which will make or break a decision on whether to go ahead and begin R&D or not.

We definitely appreciate your input, and please feel free to keep in touch with us on updates or recommendations on parts for your vehicle!

Best Regards,

Tanabe Racing Development, USA

Subject: 3G Acura TL Exhaust

I would be very interested in purchasing a Medallion Touring exhaust system for my car…

The market that this would sell to obviously has money to spare… They would sell… Especially to the Acurazine readers.

Back from the dead, emailed and waiting for a response. The Touring Medallion looks very classy and I would definitely jump on it if it were available soon.

Thumbs up

The wait is over!!!

Tanabe is now looking for a stock 3G TL in their area (Torrance, CA. of course) for an exhaust and suspension development! As far as I know their exhausts are one of the best and the coilovers, chassis bracing, too. I believe everything they make is made in Japan, very high quality and standards

Hit 'em if you want a freebie, you lucky Cali bastards ahaha! Hmm.. maybe I should move

Good find George. The Tanabe Super Hyper Medallion or Medallion Touring would be a nice option for the TL.

Smile

They already have parts developed for the TSX/Accord so w/some tweaking they can perfectly adopt those to the big brother TL Hell they might even come up w/something unique for the big dog.

Someone has to jump on this opportunity fast, this would benefit all of us

I say the more choice the better, especially if it's quality and fairly affordable stuff like Tanabe!

We'll see...

I have the Tanabe Medalion Touring Exhaust on the IS350. I absolutely love it! If Tanabe comes through and develops an exhaust line for the TL, I would be very inclined to buy it. I sent them a lengthy email. I'm also very near to Torrance, so I offered my car if they may need it. I'm not sure what modifications are acceptable - if any - my TL is lightly modified.
