swoosh's build thread....the HIGH PROTEIN DIET !!! (Updated Pics-Page 74-7/12/15)
#321
Safety Car
This is a topic that I plan to be addressing soon in my diet thread.
The diet has it's greatest advantage at take-off speed. From take-off, the weight advantages slowly diminish as you reach 100 mph. This is because the diet is all about reducing inertia. But as you gain speed (toward 100+ mph), the biggest obstacle to acceleration is wind resistance and not so much inertia.
From a dead stop, I *feel* (an emotional statement, not factual) that nothing but a Z06 can touch me from 0-60 mph. But doing a 100-140 mph run is not spectacular. Still quicker than a 6MT oem TL, but nothing reflective of my dominating presence from 0-60 mph.
Other than high speeds will kill, I also avoid high speed runs because it is not my forte (strong point).

^^^ hahah aaah.....
i love 50-110 mph runs....@ 50 you are at the top of 2nd and its fun from there....but good to know about the weight disadvantage at high speeds....
the only point i wanna make is (even at 2600-3000 lbs) we still weight a lot lot more as compared some other cars out there....then why do we get hit by the disadvantage and not the other cars....

Before my new exhaust and headers, 294/275 at the wheels on a Land & Sea dyno (similar to a DyonJet from what Ive read).
Hopefully by the time the Nat'l Meet roles around, Ill be tuned and pushing ~325/300 at the wheels
But, take dyno numbers with a grain of salt. Each dyno reads differently. They are only a tool in measuring what you've gained from mods, not bench racing with people online. The first time I strapped the car to the dyno with the stroker was before the intake and exhaust mods, I put down 281/257.

S/c'er? If so, NOOOOOOOOO! That adds a good amount of weight right at the front end of the car.

Always try to get a deal. Just being nice to people will get you a hook up, its worked for me on multiple occasions.

Which brings me to the next point. I think we all need to harass Inaccurate about a small boost in power like maybe a "little" turbo for a moderate 100hp boost. Aluminum intercooler piping, small intercooler (or no intercooler with meth injection) since it will only run low boost. Internal wastegate which adds only 1lb or so. No BOV since it's not needed especially on an auto. If you were really careful, the entire kit could come in at under 50lbs. That would boost the top end performance. Or maybe just a small "fogger" shot.
Just to clarify the weight savings helps at all speeds but will have less and less of an effect the higher you go. I guess I could have just said the one sentence lol.

not really working the system....you are basically trying....
i remember when i was flying from Philippines to Dallas....i asked the lady if she had any 1st or business class seats....and flirted with her a little bit....and bam, flew 1st class from Tokyo Narita to Dallas....for the first time i wished the 13 hour flight was a little longer
There are few if any legal production cars in the 2,600lb range. The light weight is still going to help a lot in the upper speeds, just not as much as down low. When I put my car on a diet and went from a little over 3,400lbs stock to barely over 3,000lbs, it improved at every speed, very noticeable. I'm not sure where the biggest difference was because it's never been to the track since the weight loss. I think if traction wasn't an issue up to 120mph, the 0-60 or even 0-100mph would be the largest change which is perfect for the street. At part throttle, the <100mph was greatly improved, more than the higher speeds. If I ever take it to the track again where I can put the power down, it will be obvious. Everything Inaccurate says makes sense though.

I do want to get to around 2900-3000 lbs....and then add some weight depending on what route i take
recently while driving my car (went on a joy ride....dont tell FCVADI )....the car was absolutely insane....it felt like there was a beast trying to break loose....the throttle response was crazy....for the first time i thought the Redline fluid was gonna fail me and i wish i had a dual clutch tranny....it was shifting awesome and i could feel the jerks....and i started lifting while shifting....totally awesome.....
started the car after 2 weeks today expecting the same to happen....no bueno....the car was not as aggressive....and that made me sad .....
on the bright side....insurance on my car is back ON (from tomorrow) and will be driving my car regularly.....it will be mostly city driving but hey thats where the fun is when you on a diet

There is a cure for that......
TAKE OFF MORE WEIGHT
Now you're talking. This is tied to you not being happy with your "test drive". I hate test drives because they are not truly indicative of the real performance. During a test drive, a person is looking to hard and expecting too much.
To me, I just wait for my next normal daily commute. This is the acid test. When your mind is off of it, that is when you can truly evaluate things. "Damn, I never hit this speed before thru this section".

Damn Anil, I missed this thread completely, just a month or so old and already 10 pages . Cool to see you venturing out into no mans land lol, I'm surprised you sold all your PnP and Maxbore TB stuff...
Just reading this last page and am now thinking to start the diet. I've been driving all this time locally with the spare tire, both sets of floor mats and other extra weight in my car while getting a PnP

highway's i used to get 32-33 mpg which dropped to 28 after all the mods....and now its back in the 30's....so there are many other advantages of losing the wanted weight.....
Something funny happened at work today....
as I entered the parking garage....the exhaust sounds very very intimidating....i was actually use it like a horn LOL....
there were cars parked on both sides as i was driving up the ramp....i threw her in neutral and revved it past 4500 rpm couple times (quickly).....one of the car's alarm went off....I was like
next time am gonna record that haha.....
