Anil, did you ever find some crush washers? I may have a couple lying around to donate. I went into Honda up here by me and he gave me a handfull. Also this past weekend I went to buy some Shin-etsu grease for my doors, he gave me a brand new tube of it for free. I love that Honda dealership.
Thanks Matt
Well its a build thread about asparagus
first few pages are so that i can learn about as many things as i can....in the later pages i might have something to teach
Phatrick, yeah try deleting the parking brake....i might be doing it here in the next few weeks....its been raining her since the past 3 days
Hmmm...Did kingkongdave just make a new username!?!
Tiptronic makes auto drivers feel more in control...not the same as manual, but it's all they've got!
If the person is as committed to removing seats and spare tires and carpet to lighten the load, I don't see why they wouldn't consider removing the ebrake. Especially after reading what Inaccurate wrote about it being extraneous.

My comments about the parking brake was based entirely on this thread linked below. As I read thru that thread again, it appears that the parking brake holds good provided that you keep the brake adjusted properly. So, I would advocate the removal of the parking brake just for the 5AT people.

AGENDA FOR TOMORROW !!!
1> Call "the old guy" and find out how much and how much time...do i ship the engine or drive the car and leave it with him for couple days
2> Call the local guy and get a quote for exactly the same kind of work....I have seen this guy work and he is amazing !!!.....he worked on my intake manifold and runners....
3> Call KMS and get a final pricing for couple people
EVERYONE WHO PM-ED ME....KMS IS WILLING TO WORK A DEAL OUT FOR US....AGAIN THIS IS NOT A GROUP BUY AND KMS HAS NO INTENTION OF PAYING AND BECOMING A VENDER HERE.....
SINCE I SPOKE TO THEM I ASKED HIM IF HE CAN HOOK US UP IF WE GOT 3-4 ORDERS....ALL THE WORK WILL BE CUSTOM AND TO YOUR NEEDS.....WHETHER FI OR NA OR SUPERNATURAL (gotcha).....BUT YEAH THE HEADS/CAMS/VALVES/COMPRESSION RATIO WILL BE DONE BASED ON WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.....
HE TOLD ME IF ITS ONLY ME, IT WILL COST ME ~3200 FOR EVERYTHING.....IF I CAN GET HIM 3-4 PEOPLE IT WILL BE ~2600 (~20% OFF) AND IF WE HAVE 5+ PEOPLE IT WILL FURTHER REDUCE....SO IF YOU WANT TO GET IN, PM ME.....

the parts for this cost only ~1000 bucks and the labor was ~2200 and they are cutting a deal on the labor....so now the labor is ~1600
Extreme Port Job - 5 angle intake 3 angle exhaust
Glass Bead
Fly Cut Head
Valve Job
Gasket Matched
Valves Lightened
New Radius on Valves
Extreme Reshaping of Valves
Dual Titanium Race Springs
Titanium retainers
Black Nitride Valves
Custom Cam setup so it wont be as lopey
Decked head by flycutting it, you can get increased compression if you will
if you see, they are doing valves + springs + retainers + cams.....just getting generic items from Bisi cost ~1500-1600 for all of this....
since the cams will not be generic, they will be custom, so you can say, hey i dont want lopey idle or slightly lopey idle is fine....or go all out on it, is your call.....
since they are gonna flycut the head you can increase CR at this point....if i remember correctly, Andy was telling me you can increase 1-2 points of CR without changing pistons/rods/etc and the increase CR....
am I enticing you towards performance mods J ??? your car looks good, if it starts driving like ours then everywhere we will only see your car pix dude !!! dont do it LOL.....
am just trying to help myself and the community bro....if this works out, all of us (3 or 4 or 5 or 10 people can save some cash) and get fast.....i would love to be the only one with this and act all exclusive but whats the fun in that
i was telling KMS the same thing....people will not put down 3 grand without solid numbers....but all they have a manufacturing facility with a lot of machines and no dyno (kinda shocked me).....
thats why i thought i will call ENDLYN and this local guy today.....if they do it for cheaper, i would get that done, get some dyno's and hook you guys up with that person....
i know KMS and ENDLYN are renowned in what they do....i think a member here (teninzsherpa something) had a custom built for his twin turbo accord from KMS....and they did a damn good job....

If I'm not mistaken, this could not only be used for an awesome naturally aspirated application but this is also a pretty beefy internal upgrade for a higher stage turbo application too, no?!!? Meaning the motor would hold a lot more power without failing?

^^^ Yes....you can use this for a Turbo/SC application as well....but you will not go crazy over the CR and cams as you want (i think) the CR to be lower in Turbo app.....so in a turbo app you will be prolly just getting a head porting job, valves, springs, retainers etc.....

I wouldn't waste money on cams and such for the turbo TL. The turbo is already capable of making way more power than the stock bottom end can hold. Why spend over $2k on cams and such when you can turn the boost up a lb or 2 for the same gain?
The cams can slightly lower octane requirements though.
There's nothing wrong with doing the heads/cams on a turbo engine but I don't think it's worth the cost unless you've upgraded the bottom end.
FI cams can be beneficial and not hurt spool too much or at all. Throwing a big NA cam in there can hurt things.
Once someone takes the TL into the high boost arena, 20lbs or more, upgraded intake valve springs could be needed but no one will know until someone bends valves without overrevving. The valves are pretty small so it might not be an issue.
Keep in mind, if it has a lope, the catalytic converters will have a short life...for the NA guys.
Of course this might have made more sense if I was in the turbo tl thread like I thought I was lol.

i would think most people who will venture into this will be fully bolted on and have PCD's and 3rd cat delete....i also read a discussion somewhere that Flex Fuel (E85) compresses better and hence burns more efficiently in the cylinder....so it can be one of the alternatives to people running bigger cam profiles....
please correct me if am wrong

I would curious to know how much the "smog" will affect the bosch sensors and if you would have to replace them often.. even when they down below after the jpipe.. then how often you would have to go through tunes... just thinking out loud... prob not smart thinking but I havent been accused of being smart

here is an UPDATE !!!
From ENDYN:
They havent called me back but I spoke to a guy who said "Soba Blasting is better than Sand Blasting or Glass Beading" COACH ME ON THIS !!!
From KMS:
EMAIL 1
EMAIL 2
EMAIL 3
Now I met another guy at Four Rings Performance up in North KC.
He seemed like an extremely nice guy and he sure did seem very knowledgeable.....this is his car from 2009 and 2011....
and he is not charging me toooo much....
Port and Polish job that KMS is quoting for 1700, he will be doing it for 1200....plus i will save on shipping back and forth....plus he will help me disassemble and re-assemble the heads back.....cams will be done by another shop after he puts my heads on the flow bench.....and again it will be custom (to suit my needs).....
I think i have made my decision.....but wanted to ask you guys for advice !!!

Hi Anil,
As I mentioned in our conversation, the port and polish is $1000 per head, but I'll do $1700 for both heads so there is already a discount involved with the head job pricing below.
Full RACE head job which includes: $1700/set of heads
Extreme Port Job - 5 angle intake 3 angle exhaust
Glass Bead
Fly Cut Head
Valve Job
Gasket Matched
Valves Lightened
New Radius on Valves
Extreme Reshaping of Valves
Decked head by flycutting it, you can get increased compression if you will
Ultimate Valve Train Package: $799
Dual Titanium Race Springs
Titanium retainers
Black Nitride Valves
Valve Guide Seals
Blockguards (optional. deduct $75 if you don't want blockguards.)
Cam: $675 with core (core is needed)
Custom Cam setup so it wont be as lopey
So how much for less than 5 orders - $3174
5-10 orders - $3000
10+ orders - $2900
Any questions, just give me a call. Thanks.

The prices do not include shipping.
You should expect 10%-20% gain in HP depending on compression, camshaft height, and duration.
We use a nickel based hardening process that increases the resistance to thermal fatigue. It also assists in resistance to galling, which accounts for less cam lobe wear.

1> Is there a way we could get Soda Blasting instead of Sand Blasting or Glass Beading ???
Yes, we have a soda blast machine. That can be done.
2> And if you could give me a total cost which would include: Return Shipping + Paypal Fees + everything everything out the door. This way we can give a clearer picture than hidden cost....
We do not charge Paypal fees. It's hard to quote shipping, since it depends on exact weight and location of the recipient. A single head is roughly 45lbs packaged and that ranges from $60-$80 via FedEx. This is one thing that is hard to quote, since FedEx shipping varies per week based on fuel surcharges as well.
3> What will decide the cam lobe profile ? I know you will be doing some analysis but will it be "what I want" as compared to "what is better for me" Will there be any options ? you will provide ?
We can build the cams any way you want them.
4> Since this is custom we can have 2 customers with different needs and hence different cam profiles right ?
Yes, they can be different.
Thanks,

See, on this thread, I don't say a dang thing cause I have nothing of value to add. You all are WAY out of my league in reference to seeing how much these things can squeeze out. And I'm ALL for seeing what you guys can do.
Cheers for being pioneers, man!

^^^ I will pass the thanks to Andy hahaha.....he was the real pioneer man....
but yeah these can squeeze out ~15-20%.....if you get the compression up and a good pnp job, ~40+whp should be attainable
and also, i started this thread with an empty cup and i keep learning
