I'm thinking comparatively that the MPG that the 2013 shelby is supposed to get is really quite amazing considering the amount of power it puts out when compared to 300 crank HP sedan such as our TLs.

LOL
Post the vids you used

MPG is more a function of weight than anything else. To accelerate a car from a red light normally might require 100hp. To maintain 70mph on the freeway might require 40hp.

Weight will affect the city mpg and aerodynamics will affect the freeway mpg.

If both cars drove around at full throttle all the time, the TL would have double or more mpg than the Mustang.

If during the test, neither car produces more than 100hp, weight and aerodynamics become the most important factors.

I'll agree with you that it's amazing overall how much power modern cars can make while retaining excellent mpg but rest assured, to make a certain hp you have to use a certain amount of fuel. BSFC remains pretty close with all NA or FI cars so you can look at a basic power vs fuel consumption chart and figure out pretty closely how much fuel each car will consume over time at full throttle. The Mustang will consume close to double the fuel of the TL at full throttle.

You have efficiency whether it's engine efficiency or friction, drag, etc, but weight and aero plays the largest role.

Thanks. I did make the "custom" CAI lol. Just a tube and elbow cut to fit, with an AEM 9" Dryflow. It made the SC a little louder. Hopefully in the next week or two the car will be tuned and dyno'd.
