had random misfires on my 2g TLS when I put in the blower but I also had a wideband AFR gauge that let me know there was not enough fuel sometimes and too much fuel other times. I had to adjust my FPR and it was fixed. definitely not the coilpacks. Also did you change the plugs to the colder ones that CT recommends?

Raced my wife last night in her GLI 2.0T and I barely got in front of her. When I shifted she saw whiteish smoke (just once). I HOPE that the smoke was from being too lean as it did detonate a lil bit. The next and last step is to install the RDX 410cc's and FIC then tune. If that doesn't help, REBUILD TIME!

I have never heard of a lean condition causing any smoke. Rich is black. White is oil or water.

a friend of him was shooting white smoke.....

it came from an oil leak....the oil leak dripped on the header causing serious white smoke and it looked like its shooting out of the exhaust whereas it was just an oil leak !!!

sorry i forgot this incident when you PM-ed me.....when Inaccurate said about oil/water i remembered this....

Well there goes my little glimmer of hope, thanks JK! Thank you for the insight Inacc. I feel somewhat honored to have you reply on my thread, seriously. I very much admire your research and accomplishments and the fact that you DRIVE that car, lol. I do realize that blue smoke = oil and white usually = water, but I was just hoping being that I don't have a propper tune or the right injectors that it was a too lean condition.

Hey guys, thanks for checking in. It's been slow progress but still plan on keeping the build going. Since I last posted a few things have been done; 410cc inj./FIC/Tune (several). The first time I went to get tuned was in the summer with intake temps of 200deg fahrenheit and the car made 286whp. The tuner was very conservative. Second time not much cooler but squeezed 292 out of it with a 12.5 A/F @ WOT. The last time the car was at the dyno a month ago much cooler and it made 298whp. Still low #'s but the good news is the motor is in good shape, no blow by or smoke.

The things that are in the trunk waiting to be installed are water/meth, PNP'd runners to match the PNP'd manifold, P2R intake spacer, and new idler pulley. Also found out that my bypass valve is not working properly causing boost to fluctuate<sp?. I'd like to do the 6spd swap but that won't be for a while. Hope to see 325whp when the parts I have now are installed. I'll post up when things progress.

bro am very naive about the S/C

I would assume a fully bolted on Base 6MT will be around 270-ish and with the FIC and a good tune around 280-ish.....298 seems very low for a s/c car....

is there any reason why you are around 298? is the boost low or are you playing it safe? (again you know more than me and am just a curious camper)

Op's car is AT, so 298 sounds about right. Stock 06 MT dynos about 220 ish, AT about 200 HP, add 100 HP for the SC. I ran on a 94 octane mix of 100 octane and 91 to make a little extra power.

Hi speed pretty much summed it up. I wanted to believe there would be more of a gain but in reality 60ish hp on the 5AT with no supporting mods. I thought with the few extras on my car would gain a li'l more. My tune is still somewhat conservative but with the water meth we can push it a little more. Hopefully PNP runners and Mani will help also If I wasn't so hasty, I would have done what you and alot of other people are doing and squeezed the most out of the motor NA, and then go FI. Oh well guess I'll work backwards then lol.

3.9 psi is the most I've seen, but even so 230-240? Not sure why you thought soo little of a gain.

yes i think the pnp SC components like Alex has and some manifold + runner mods will help you gain more....

i really hope you cross 325 without any headwork....

yeah, I've read up on it. I understand the risk but the car will be tuned as best as possible. If anything goes wrong there will just have to be a better rebuild

hope all is well man, its been quite a journey. change the bypass valve. you also should be up a psi or two at most.so just shy at 4 psi, you should def be into the 310+ WHP when hitting proper boost. the other mods should also help. NO HBP man, maybe you get more power, but if your motor doesn't go the SC will. message me where you got your tune.. GL

Did I ever ask how much boost you were producing?

Hope things are well for you and the family. Happy Holidays!
